Hey Honzo, with the changes to Chris in UMvC3 (based off of what you saw or theory fighter or whatever) do you think he’ll have a decent place? Or will he still be a really niche-y character without anything that covers the air.
Also, are you excited for Frank or Rocket?
well of course doom, but sent or task work well, each giving unique options.
Doom gives you a high priority beam that extends combos, helps you in zoning, and allows some safe pressure.
sent gives you a free pressure card, allows for long chip/pressure strings, allows for easy fuzzy guard setups (can do it with beams just easier with sent), it might be able to extend combos (in my head at least)
Task gives you a slow projectile that has a lot of priority, helps with chip game, can be used to mixup some of the smaller cast members (call assist dash over)
In general, if you’ve got a question about what assist to use in a team, the correct answer is always Doom, right?
no not necessarily, doom does a lot of the things that I like well, but you know he isn’t always the best option. I mean modok beam assist is better for some chars than doom, its just that you have to use modok eventually so it weakens its value.
theres a lack of a good amount of chris info right now tbh, but i still think he’ll be a gimmicky type of zoning character in ultimate, in that if you know how to deal with his shit you can get in pretty easily unless you play one of those couple of chars with a terrible match up without good assist
with HSD nerf in general, and meter nerf, a lot of his ToD combos with 1 meter starting are gone as well. zoning buff (mainly j.2h cancel) is a huge help against other zoners but against someone you need to actually zone, you probably shouldn’t be super jumping anyway unless you’re confident in pressuring them (eh…)
and he’ll still be ass against character based teleports and magneto type characters

Hey Honzo, I remember hearing that Task’s Hyper counter was going to reflect beams in UMVC3 and then I never heard anything else about it. Did they do this or did I just make up hearing about it?
I feel like his zoning and chip game will improve significantly. The fact you can pistol into guns is really big because it stops what they are doing, either on hit or block, and they have to accept the magnum or machine gun, instead of maneuvering away from it.
Chris still has his excellent grabs into hitconfirm combos for the most part, going to be altered and shortened due to assist change. He won’t have the same damage output, and will be reliant on trying to zone and using his grenades more effectively in order to do damage.
HAVING NEVER SEEN FRANK OR ROCKET IN MY LIFE, yeah they will be cool. If you really want to know how frank plays just think of it as TvC phoenix wright–>mvc3 wright and TvC Frank–>MvC3 frank will make sense.
