Yes I will be using task in ultimate (most likely).
Task/Hawk/Nova seems like a good team, but it has problems imo. Hawk’s poison fizz assist will be very good and you’ll be sacrificing that, since you’ll need a pressure assist because nova’s won’t fill that role. Hawks triple shot will be more beneficial in that team. Nova as an anchor is still untested (because we don’t have the game), BUT I think he’ll do fine. I would honestly suggest doom as an anchor since you gain a full screen pressure assist/space controlling assist. Plus it frees up hawks assist to be more utility.
I of course like strong zoning teams that do good in combos, BUT there are mental drawbacks to these teams. It’s really easy to autopilot while zoning, and you need to be ready to mix it up and be random. Sometimes random shit(as long as its semi safe) is a really good play. Your yomi game has to be on point while trying to zone, since your playing the game 5-10 seconds ahead of your opponent, while rushdown are just slamming their proverbial dick on the stick and getting free mixups.
Task as an anchor is indeed scary, but I feel on point he’s so much more.
After seeing the Assist Me with Nemesis, he’s looking pretty beastly, especially with the lockdown assists from Hawkeye/Taskmaster. He (or Ghost Rider) would be good with their jumping tentacle/whips accompanied by arrow assists, and his damage is pretty insane. His wallbounces/high stun moves seem like they would give a lot of opportunities for poison arrow assist to sneak in and tag the opponent. Task arrows to get in, Hawkeye mid-combo for extra damage (with Nemesis’ 700k combos alone, the extra poison scaling would kill most problem characters). Plus if the opponent is feeling the need to block (especially the vertical arrows since they take a bit longer and makes opponents get scared to do anything for a little bit) it might lend itself well for him to wavedash up and set up dirty grabs into full combos.
I know what you mean with going into autopilot mode. I feel like I get into patterns and let opponents get in a bit too easily, so a good get off me assist would be nice. I somehow know deep down in my little heart that Doom is probably one of the best routes to take, but he just feels so awkward to play for me. I think it’s the air dashing… something to work on.
If I did use Task as anchor, would you recommend switching to vertical assist? I’ve always used horizontal, so I’m not sure how effective his vertical ones would really be. I wish Nova had his air javelin as an assist… that would be mean.
only like 5 characters have health nerfs, the universal health nerf thing is a myth, until the game comes out.
chris/trish/task is the better zoning team, but chris/hawk/dorm is probably the better team. hawk/dorm offers much more mixups that go along with their zoning capabilities while trish/task focus mostly on zoning and lack the mixing up that is sometimes required.
Hawk has what it takes to survive the start of the match shenangians, but he def is not the best. I think he’s still a solid point character if your team is lacking one, and his zoning capabilities will shut down a lot of the other point chars.
Will you grace us with your glorious presence at Starbase tonight?
Are you going to final round next year? If so you down to mm for $100?
I second this, down for an $100 @Honzo?
no
not mm in a game that isnt out yet
Hey Honzo, what advice would you give a godlike player like myself who has no friends in the tournament scene and wants to travel but not be the only person there not knowing anyone?
He’s actually fairly good at the other side of the screen. The guy is more about versatility than rushdown.
I know this may be hard to understand, but most people start as unknowns. A shocker I know, but if you expect to waltz in the first time at a tourney and everyone treats you like Fonzie GET THAT SHIT OUT OF YOUR HEAD. You will be unfamiliar with people and you will probably feel awkward. The only way to get to know people in the tourney scene is go out as a random dude and become acquainted with people. Hang near the casual cabs and just talk to someone whose standing around BAM you know someone. If its a major ask around for where the casual after hour sessions will be at, and kick it with people BAM getting to know people. If you think your hot shit MM people and beat them BAM you now know them (and they prolly hate you now :)).
I mean you won’t be the only one not knowing anyone, and you are not the first to feel this way. So, stop thinking you’re in a special situation and get the fuck out to tournaments, real talk.
You think my first ventures into the fgc was all rainbows and blowjobs? The first time I went to starbase I had to weather a pleathora of insults hurled at me for my play style. I had a very well known person in the fgc call me a scrub for around 10 mins straight. Yet with all the shit I still went week after week and developed the relationships. I went to the wnf before revelations by myself, I knew two ppl there. I went and played and socialized, I got down, I let my soul lead the way.(whoever got that reference kudos). ANYWAYS you just gotta go.
justgojustgo go hey go why don’t you just go go gog oggogogofogdgfdogosdogosdogdoog
lol I remember being shit on for being the new guy. Old times.
So is it a bad idea to Noel Brown someone thats talking shit to you your first time at a tournament since your teens?
I’m trying to make friends, but I play a very lame Trish.
Who should I put between Deadpool and Sentinel on my team? MODOK is too execution heavy for me until I get my fightstick working. Right now i’m using Tron for her great assist, and using Deadpool for unblockables and Sentinel to help her get in.
Who else could I use? Maybe Haggar. Katanarama resets the ground bounce, letting me do long combos with him. Deadpool gets a lot off of a hard knockdown.
The thing about what makes Deadpool good, is that rather than being super great on his own, he has good synergy with lots of characters. He can start the DHC glitch, and has two great assists for different situations. He also builds meter very well.
This is the Honzo thread so clearly it should be Task or Doom!!
I don’t know what that means
hulk, doom, dante work to fill the role your trying to fill
dante would prolly be the best, since he is good on point and has good assists. Plus he can end/start dhc glitch, and dhc’s well from deadpool. He isn’t very technically, even some of his fancy combos, but if that is your worry then just go with hulk, since hulk has a gtfo me assist and dhc’s well from deadpool. You can use gamma wave to mask your overhead too, meaning you call gamma wave and it goes infront of the chars and you can overhead or go low. you shouldn’t dhc glitch into hulk for most occasions, since full cutting time into gamma crush usually does more damage.
Punch them in the face for being asshats.
OH…yeah don’t punch people :nono:
Got a few casuals between a few friends of mine im playing Dante/Thor/Dorm. I was really nervous lol so I was dropping stuff like stinger bc teleport. Any tips or whatever are appreciated
