Honest questions to those that complain about Chun-Li

Those were the good old days. When Watts would tell you to kill yourself after making a post.

I just dont get why people are making such a big deal about Chun Li being the best/2nd best 5 to 10 years after most of us have been playing competitively. It’s just that typical defeatist attitude that’s borderline asking for the game to be patched. You know the game’s the way it is you know Chun Li fucks shit up. What else is there to talk about? Most of the random Chun Lis online will get bodied and go to Ken just like on Xbox Live 5 years back. Good Chun Lis will fuck shit up but if you play a good game they’re beatable etc.

This whole thread is just a bunch of talk about shit that’s been discussed so many years back. It’s just funny that people keep needing history lessons about this game.

I don’t understand who’s being dismissive of anything. People are mistaking attitude with knowledge. Everyone knows chun-li is strong and difficult to play against no matter what character you’re using. The problem is in taking that knowledge and letting it warp peoples’ attitudes about the game. If Chun’s strength is too much and you find the game not very fun because of it, that’s fine. Don’t expect people who don’t share that attitude to agree with you though. It’s not that they deny her strength, they just don’t view it the same way. What do you gain from constantly mentioning that chun is top and soooo difficult? It’s incredibly old news. It would be a much better use of your time to work on your own character/s and perfect the things you can do with them.

what renic said about chun is basically that encapsulated.

Ryan Hart says some interesting things regarding third strike from the 43-46 minute mark . Nothing extreme but very relevant to this thread .

Yeah that totally makes sense. It’s basically the whole thing about you can pick a top tier in this game but you’ll be spending months or up to a year or more not getting your ass beat. You dont get safe DP’s that lead into ultras or any kind of comeback mechanism at all. In SFIV when you get hit you get a lot of super meter as well but getting hit in 3S builds you far less super meter when being hit and super meter is the only meter you have to allow you to make a serious offensive.

Yun is a character capable of crazy shit that makes Abel or Viper in SFIV seem like Remy or Twelve. Unfortunately the execution, system knowledge barrier required to make Yun that cheap is not something the average player can do. That’s why there were very few seriously good Yuns in the US back during the late 2000’s. Maybe the practice/training exercises they have in the game will get people up to speed a bit quicker but in general unless you’re genuinely good at the game you’re not going to see much just by running a high tier when the game comes out.

lol 3s forums have been ruined with the announcement of 3soe, place is no better than eventhubs or unity now. I’m out, see you guys on 3soe.

I don’t get why these guys have this goal of getting you to admit chun is too good or something

Hey, if Metric stops posting it was all worth it.

Just to spite you, I’m back. :>

Chun IS too good. And you know what, we’re fine with that.
