Some guy messaged me a comment like that but I thought it was a deja vu kinda thing going on since I applied for a job the other day. So I said “who dis?” and replied “fuck off”. Well, don’t know what was what but I was bummed out the next day that I didn’t get the job.
I seem to have the most trouble against the type of player that uses an offensive-turtle style gameplan that wont let you breath, using his moves as his primary defense.
i.e. a projectile spammer can at times make my life a living hell to get in close and the second I finally do try to jump in, I get uppercutted or poked away.
I guess what im trying to say is that sometimes a player with an amazing offense is basically their best defense, if that makes any sense at all.
I basically never win by timeout, so if that’s the standard we’re using then no.
But, from now on i’m mostly going to play extreme turtle against ryu players. The way i see it, seeing ryu on the screen so often when i don’t play him is so annoying that i might as well return the favour.
Against zangief i guess i wait alot, but just about everyone does from what i see, unless they lose.
Walk-up throw works on my friend all the time. Sometimes waiting players are just sitting hoping you will do that one thing they are thinking of, and they don’t expect you to do something totally random.
I’ve fought a few players like that…Like E. Hondas that back up and 360 all day. No strong opinion on them though. I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do to win right? It’s not my style so I always try my best to advance.
I lose because I refuse to stop coming foward. Normally I get on a mini win streak against someone (player matches) then they start to wait/turtle a little and realize I just became free. I even say in my head, “they went in turtle mode, chill out” but my hands never hear this or accept it.
One time I was fighting someone who was really hardcore about it. I was able to get up and go get something to drink and they still hadnt moved from cr.block when I got back.
So I would draw the distinction between waiters and turtlers. It is not as if a turtling style player will never attack you, that’s just taking it to some extreme and I don’t know anyone who plays that way, a turtle will however play very defensively.
Again character, matchup, etc makes everyone from time to time play “turtley” or “rush down” it all depends on the situation.
I know some people love them, but I really hate that Ultra’s exist. I use Sakura and I am maybe average so it takes a lot of work on my end to squeak out wins. So it sucks SO MUCH when I did so much and probaly took some damage along the way to lose simply because all my work gave them free spike damage.
Granted I should have expected that wake up ultra or stopped attacking when they had full meter for it, but I didnt buy the game to stare at my opponent waiting for them to do something. Sorry for ranting…
