lol
i played another honda right after recording with personal judas, his name is something like semitin or semtex or something, anyway he was blasting me with 24 hit ex 100 hands combos from jab and was like "wha…!!!"
i lost fewer games in that set, but it was a lot prettier than the set with personal judas.
in fact, the casual first to ten we did before the recorded set looked a lot better.
i think he was doing a lot of that aggressive meter burning because he knew i was not defending against it very well.
ah well.
your from houston? where are you at tournaments? MM?
I was bored to see how far i’d get in G1 with ONLY sumo splashes. Got to semi final then final in my first two championships…
Gimmicks work online. Sad but true.
Raunwynn, if your doing a “how to” vs honda, stress the importance of how to fight splash, its not hard if you know how.
As for judas’ play… yeah… kudos for SG.
i never go to tournaments.
i just sit on my couch and play xbox live!
my goal in sf4 was to be the best online gouken i could be.
im not really trying to do “how to” videos.
im not supergouken.
what i want is to get smoked so i can learn what i am doing wrong by watching the videos.
during the commentary i talk about what i know about how gouken plays the matchup to make the videos more entertaining.
i learn the most from the matches that i lose.
i feel like i have leveled up a lot since i started this project!
there are 5 good players on x box live… mike ross, mike ross, mike ross, mike ross, and mike rasss the bassss
im sure u played semitry. utah honda player. and i havent bothered to watch the video js read the comments and i guess thats enough. bt in all honesty fighting against gouken is kinda weird.i havent found any viable ones that i can actually say “shit, he was pretty good” .normally u can js play honda the w basics & i havent had any problems beating him.hit me up whenever if u wanna play me.im not talkin shit at all, i js wudnt mind more match up exp against him.
yeah, it was semitry!
he is on my friend’s list.
he was much more conservative than personal judas, until he lands a jab punch.
then its like slap fiesta.
im always open to match requests if im not in a game with someone else.
invite me anytime rotb!
thats what honda does the “slap fiesta” anyway if you really want to get good go to some of your local tournaments i drive 3 or 4 hours to get to houston and that scene needs more good players houston has a good sagat (imagine that) and a good gief so maybe show up to U of H next weekend or if you really wanna play top level wait for cali vs. texas 2 coming up in november, i had the chance to play marn last weekend at ufo and that was great experience wise
i am not really interested in doing that.
i love watching tournament players on streams or youtube, but i dont care for leaving the house or being around other people or having someone babysit my kid so i can go do something that i do not want to do.
i enjoy playing online and i am just trying to get as good at that as i can.
i just rewatched the set with personal judas and it looks like he is doing jab into hands all the time.
he doesnt seem to connect standing roundhouse after it or fadc it, but he is still using that technique.
is there something wrong with the way he is doing jab into hands?
also, i have noticed several people criticize him for doing full screen headbutts, but against gouken i think those are guesses against high fireball.
if honda shows me that he is going to headbutt me when i throw high fireball, i limit those and his jumps become a little safer.
i am not trying to argue that personal judas is the big bad honda on the block or that sg is the benchmark for solid play.
i am just curious about honda and his options against gouken.
there seems to be a lot of championship mode hate in here!
for online players it was one of the only competitive outlets we had in sf4.
Real talk: If you’re only playing online and refusing to go to tournaments, then you ain’t shit.
Not everyone can be Mike Ross in their free time.
Who said anything about Mike Ross? I’m saying if you are good, but won’t take it to where it counts, who the fuck cares?
lol brett he is probably feeling like he is at the point where casual play is all he needs…
what I do against gouken is get in and rape…its simple gouken loves to counter hit so jump in yada yada get counter hit…the next time empty jump in ochio stand over him neutral empty jump ochio again he gets up he wants to counter again ex buttslam you activate the counter but aren’t hit a few guess headbutts arent that bad but all you really have to watch for is being in the corner and getting back grabbed, goukens fireball game is a joke
He is an old man - you can get put away for that!
No offence Jewlman, but is there any match that is not SIMPLE in your eyes - every single match breakdown I read from you has the word SIMPLE in it alot. Not all Goukens go looking for counters everytime you go near them and if you guess wrong with your empty jump Oicho games, you are potentially eating 300-400 damage if the Gouken knows his stuff. As for his fireball game, personally it is not a joke if the Gouken knows how to zone, baits sometimes and mixes it up. He recovers faster than you think too. I see this match being even right now, but in the right hands at high level play in Super (talking 6-9 months time), I could easily see it become 6-4 Gouken when someone gets his demon flip mix ups down and knows his projectile game inside out.
its cool man.
i am comfortable with your opinion.
if i said something like that to another person though, i would be embarrassed.
if gouken neutral jumps when you oicho you are going to eat 400 damage from one ex bar or up to 640 damage if he has 3 ex and ultra.
most of the time when i lose to honda it is because he is shooting me down when i am trying to neutral jump his oicho’s.
i dont understand how you can say his fireballs are a joke, especially as a honda player.
i thought most honda players hated fireballs.
if you were playing gouken, would you have a difficult time mixing up a honda player with fireballs that have unpredictable release times and trajectories?
also, gouken’s fireballs recover in 41 frames.
the only faster recovery than that is guile’s sonic boom (29-33 depending on punch) and sagat’s high tiger(39).
gouken’s fireballs recover faster than sagat’s low tiger (44).
i think the match is hard for honda right now.
i think it is harder for honda to get in than it is for gouken to get out.
@ Raunwynn - I think it is a hard match too - my 5-5 impression is becasue I have not gone against a Gouken I have not gone worse than even with, but in Europe there are only a few out here (saying that, the best one in Europe I have not played). In the UK Gouken is allowed at competitions. Across mainland Europe he is not, so nobody has really picked him up yet. Like I said in the right hands though, I dont see how this match is not advantage Gouken in Gouken.
no offense tamana but your from england…who is your best player there? mike hart? i dont hate fireballs playing some damn good sagats have gotten me ready for fireballs i didnt mean follow my “simple” instructions step by step, its all about who gets the momentum and i’m just saying i have not played a gouken better then ultimate faust and even then its fairly straight forward…how hard is it to walk forward at a projectile character like guile or gouken who cant do anything big about it? thanks to online i cant block every fireball i walk into but i will gladly walk into 2 or 3 fireballs because my opponent wont dare throw a fourth and demonflip mixups? please…o no gouken threw me and this time he crossed me up so block and mash OS…
on a lighter note i am learning cr mk into hands and wow the 400+ damage meterless combo is really making me smile
Hey Jewelman, lmao at your opening statement…but that is just typical of the “we are the number 2 SF4 nation on Earth” attitude that a small and unfortunate group of US players seem to have - England is shit, Europe are shit at SF4 - we are not better than the US, but surprise surprsie we are not worse either (Dieminion is over at the minute and actually thinks we have a better overall standard, but fewer top players. Daigo at Cannes felt Europe was on par with the US - both of their opinions carry a bit more weight). Funnily enough, Ryan Hart is not a measure of me or how I play this game so why you have to mention him is pretty funny to basically say that must make me lower level, therefore your opinion means more. As you bought him up, I dont see US Sagats beating Daigo though - so before you go mouthing off about Ryan Hart, he does, and I seem to remember he beat all the US Sagats at last EVO in money matches so you just indirectly disrespected some of your US players. Thanks for bringing him up, you just boosted my status by association!
I might be English, but I play people across Europe too not just the UK and the standard is very good. I don’t see any Sagats in the US on Aliounes Level either (Daigo said he was probably only behind Mago, Bonchan and RF in terms of global level…I’m sure Sanford Kelly might agree too!) and I play him regulary, so frankly if you want to talk about being prepared for fireball characters I think you might be surprised by what you have not experienced yet. I would say that UK and Europe are easily ahead in those terms…so I think I know what a good fireball game looks like thank you very much before you have a go at me and the standard over here! So throw Ryu, Guile, Akuma, Chun, Gouken, Seth into the mix and you have a group of characters who are best placed to hurt Honda and give him a hard time…and in the right hands they do and are not simple to beat.
Your post my friend is typical off the “this game is easy” attitide you seem to come with all the time. “What can Guile and Gouken do?” - plenty as a matter of fact, but its been discussed to death and not for this post. So you will happily eat 2-3 fireballs to get in…interesting tactics, but not something I would advocate, but simple nonetheless! You can’t block fireballs becasue of online - player blaming his tools methinks??? “o no gouken threw me and this time he crossed me up so block and mash OS” - says it all! As for mk hands and doing 400+ damage…you need to jump in to land that so you are taking risks and personally I think it is OVERRATED. It is not versatile outside of its one use and I think hitconfirms to link into hands off light punches/kicks are better strategically (links, more meter, frame traps). This gives you more simple tick setups too for Oicho when people think you are going to go for hands. The 400 damage is all very nice and not to be sniffed at, but its too situational to make a huge difference to his game imo and going looking for it too much could get you killed quickly.
Keep up the good work!
Tamana putting jewelman on blast.
Dramadramadramadramadramadramadrama
anyways, I’ll try to make a quick video of any changes I have found on Honda. Namely sumo smash into supe or ultra anywhere on screen and jab headbutt going through fireballs.
