Ok my first match of the Tourney. ( I got a bye due to seeding)

And at this point I possessed by the Ghost of Akimo from across the world and used all of my energy and couldn’t play or think worth the shit after that. This 3rd place I took was an accomplishment. I sent the guy that always sends me to losers to the fucking losers bracket.
How ever I did something for every Honda player in the World.
Match 4

I completely forgot my fucking game plan. I started playing American and got my ass kicked really fucking bad. I got greedy and went for counter hits he caught on I fucked up a few Ultras and that’s that.
I don’t think the losers finals are up but long story short I got frustrated and broke down against Sagat. (Story of a E.Honda player)
Akimo vs Mago from Gods Garden 8/7/09 - Round 1 is awesome

Akimo v Mago from TRF in July. Sorry if this one was posted, I don’t remember seeing it here but I could be wrong. Round 3, Akimo does cr.lk xx cr.lk xx cr.lp xx HHS xx Super.
A lot of people always talk about how Blanka is an easy match-up without having ever played a decent blanka. Here’s a decent blanka and what it takes to beat him:
yes, blankas that have really good defense can be pretty tough.
also on that video were some dictator matches. dictator has become one of the toughest matches for me these days. anyone got any tips for this one? (and i’m not talking about basic stuff like how to beat head stomp, more like what’s your general game plan supposed to be. what spacing is good vs him, etc.)
the hhs, hhs, hhs super combo on gief was sick. extra sick if you consider the fact that he needed all 3 of those hhs to get the meter for super.
is there a timing trick to do hhs into hhs? it’s the only hhs combo (outside of the cr.jp xx ex hhs loop) that i can’t do consistently.
and finally on a more unrelated note…
did you guys watch all the akimo vids from gods garden?
was anyone else amazed at how good he was at teching throws?
in the momochi match, momochi tried to throw him like over 10 times or something and akimo teched all of them except 2. how the hell does he do that?
(i’m pretty sure he is doing option select crouch cancelling… but how is he that good at it?)
You know, I have a suspicion that when he does c.lk, c.lk, c.p xHHS, that those first 2 c.lk might be a result of the option select. If that’s true… that would be pretty awesome. j. HHS usually comes out after my option select, and I’ve been trying to time it so I hit fierce in time once I notice the c.lk but with no success.
yes that’s why i guessed he was option select crouch teching it because in a lot of vids you can see him do a cr.lk when the other person stops a block string and tries to walk in.
after the cr.lk hits you actually have plenty of time to confirm it and link cr.lp. going into hands just depends on how good your execution is.
I am looking forward to 2 months or so down the road when this forum agrees with me about Blanka being 7-3 (or very close to that), just like good ol HHS
As far as dictator goes, it’s a pretty tough match overall. For me this comes down to a lot of turtling and spacing. St hp and st rh aren’t particularly useful in this match, because he’s probably either scissor kicking, focusing, or st rh-ing. Jump strong can occasionally beat st rh clean for big damage. Nearly impossible to correctly ex hb crossups, but at least you get out of there. Just remember that as difficult it is for you to attack him, it’s just as bad for him.
I never loved the viper matchup honestly… I kinda feel that while it may be one of Viper’s worst matchups, it still isn’t one of Honda’s best, if that makes sense… she can do huge dmg and stun out of nowhere, and puts you in nonstop awkward situations like few other characters can. Honda is set up overall to beat her, but she is scary and still in it until dead. Nothing specific to rly say about that matchup, everyone pretty much knows what to do move-wise. Jab HB good, ex good, nj HP good, and you outpoke her pretty bad. That and low jab lasts a while and will often hit ex seismo after invincible frames are gone.
looking to improve my honda, any tips would be helpful, here is a video of me playing against a friend of mine yesterday. I will get some more vids soon with better quality, and sorry about no sound =/
yeah that’s pretty much how i feel about it as well.
i didn’t know about cr.jab being able to outlast the invincibility on ex seismo. i’ll have to play with that. some possible new oki setups with that.
hey you’re in san diego. you should have come out to box arena yesterday.
we play every wed and there’s a lot of people.
check the san diego when and where will you play 2 thread.
as for the video. i don’t know the elf match up that well so i can’t say much but…
i think you probably already realized this but you did too many FP headbutts when he had ultra. the ex headbutt to bait ultra was very nice though.
you did ex oicho once which was a waste of meter (probably just accident)
that elf was not really pressuring you much after knockdown so i don’t know if you know how to get out of elf oki or not.
probably work on hhs combos since you didn’t seem to know them.
Yeah, I wouldn’t necessarily count on it and I have no idea how much invincibility ex seismo has, but quite a few times I have beaten it with my low jab where I thought I was going to get hit for sure.
If you time the meaty jab right, you got 6 frame window to peg her out of the actual hitting part. If you were to do a mistimed meaty fierce, she would get slapped out of ex seismo clean, but if you timed it correctly, you’d get popped up and die.
