The Kenshiro Den Zero movie and Ten No Haoh, are very new content.
I bought one of the 2-disc sets on e-bay. Its probably a bootleg release made by some taiwan company though, as most official Japan-only releases do NOT have english subtitles.
It was worth it though, great quality and Excellent subtitles. Only the last episode is kinda iffy on the subs.
That Souther fight was too good :bgrin:
Since we’re on the movie tip, anyone know where I can find the second Raoh movie? Raoh Den Gekitou no Shou. Everywhere I look it’s either raw or hosted on some paysite.
And I’m waiting for the domestic release of Raoh Ten no Haoh. Gonna be sweet!
props
I don’t think we’re going to get anything new, until whenever Souten no Ken’s manga is over and done. For right now, that’s the only part of the “series” that’s still on-going, and shows no real signs of stopping just yet.
Personally, I don’t mind for right now, since I very much like Souten. I’ve even gotten to like Kasumi Kenshiro a bit more than his descendant.
Wouldn’t mind at all if Hara and Buronson found a means to give Souten more love (like getting ASW to make a FG based off of it. :wgrin:). I’m sure more people would get to like Souten, if it would get more exposure.
I just started watching this series via Funimation’s website and the 1986 movie. It’s fantastic.
Souten no ken was one of the few things HNK related that i didn’t like. The anime was kinda boring, nothing really happened, and it just sorta dragged on and then ended on a, “meh” note.
Definitely one of the lower points of the new stuff.
It also established the “DBZ syndrome” stuff in the HNK universe, which i thought was kinda sad.
I still struggle with the whole legacy that HnK2 added to the series. Mind you, doesn’t help that my boxset has the worst Engrish known to man either. There were some elements that were cool though like Hyo, Falco and attempting to give Hokuto more history and origin. The parallels with Hyo growing up with another family and becoming brothers through the style was interesting too, especially with Hyo being weaker the whole time.
When Jyuukei said to Kaioh that his duty was to guard/mentor the Hokuto family did he mean society in general or just his family?
just watched the last episode again
Damn, Kenshiro catches a rock covered in magma AND CRUSHES IT WITH HIS FIST!
Since Kaioh was a descendant of Hokuto does that mean he technically could have owned Hyo on the bridge, avoided Hokuto Ryuken and pretty much gone on to be the successor?
Been reading the original manga off and on, love this series. Up to the part where Ken destroyes God Land (sic) and is off to the oasis with the bearded dude right after him.
Wondering if anyone has some decent wallpapers of the series and I’ve got a semi-serious question to ask. Why does Japan love Raoh so much?
The anime was lackluster in a lot of ways, the least of them being that the televised version was censored. The fact that whole episodes were cut/re-arranged around didn’t help, either.
But I say, give the series a chance by reading the manga. SO much better for you. The anime, since it was killed off and handed so poorly, barely got enough time to really tell the early stories to some competent degree, and that was another thing I didn’t like.
Cuz he’s awesome! That should be enough, right?
But seriously, I think it has a lot to do with how iconic he is, which just goes along with the overall notion of how iconic the “Fist” series is. The Fist series laid the basic foundation that a lot of manga, anime and games would go on to follow to this very day. And just like Kenshiro left his mark, so did Raoh.
the snk manga is pretty fucking tight, imo.
check it out over at http://hokutoarmy.wordpress.com/ for those of you who don’t really like the snk anime but want to give it another shot of sorts.
Anybody collect figures/statues of Hokuto no ken? I want to start collecting the revoltech series but are bit too expensive. Its about $35 per figure, anybody know where you can get it cheaper? I know amazon japan is selling them for about $15-$25 but they wont mail it to the USA.
i was thinking of picking up Jagi’s Death Skull too…
So I’ve been watching the 80’s series for a while now and I’m up to the point where Ken fights Raoh for the first time. Here’s my question: Why is Jagi ignored? Shin is constantly brought up in flashbacks and Toki and Raoh are treated as very important. Jagi had enough buildup to be treated like a major villain plus he’s one of the Hokuto brothers, so why is he forgotten? Is it because he didn’t redeem himself in any way before he died?
^It’s because hes considered the black sheep of the hokuto lineage, as instead of getting stronger with his training, he just resorted to weapons and cheap tricks, and was evil just for the sake of being evil.(Though I think his gaiden manga retcons this somewhat)
It might be because I haven’t read a lot of the series, but I’m a Jagi fan myself. Certainly not the strongest character, but he gets respect for being one of the best thugs.
Probably because they made Jagi too well concerning his extreme behavior. Raoh is much stronger obviously but the falls short in being the polar opposite of Ken. Jagi is every bit of Ken’s opposite. The entire series revolves around one super villain at a time. I.E. the colonel, Amiba, etc. At one time it looked Rei would become a villain. It looked as though he was going to rape Mamiya then creating him as a nemesis of Ken. The most have second guessed that right away though making him Ken’s partner in justice. Raoh is an awesome character but not an awesome villain IMO. Gemna was an example of an awesome villain. Emotionless and powerful.
HNK 2 sucked, if only that part of the story could be eliminated. Turned into General Hospital type drama.
Has anybody played this game on PSX, the RPG version
