HNL 808 GGXX: Accent Core

Shin: I think I’ll have to search for some non-youtube videos to d/l and burn for you since you can’t watch videos.

Anyway, yeah he can dj. with other attacks aside from slash but they won’t combo (you know this now, right?). If they’re ducking, you’d be lucky if you can even double jump after the late jump in attack. If they’re jumping and you catch then with j.slash, then you can combo into a dj.slash, uppercut/whatever. You cannot combo into say j.slash into double jump punch (that just doesn’t work).

I’m not sure what you’re trying to do. If you’re trying to create mixup tactics I’ve no clue how you’d use these. Best mixups are the ones you whiff jumping hardslash after you’ve knocked down a character. E.g. Knockdown, jump straight up and immediately whiff jumping hardslash, as your hardslash recovers, air dash slash - hardslash (they’ll get hit if they were ducking). Mix it up with j. hardslash (whiff), land, sweep. (Send me a pm if you have problems.)

You being able to do the fast hands with fierce has nothing to do with lag. The lag is not the game but the display of the monitor. Signal outputted is the same. But it reaches our eyes slower. TV’s that need to convert the image will always have lag. Anything over a frame which is around 16ms will be noticeable to technical players.

Aizen: Thanks for the links.

AIzen: Thanks for helping me out. I’ll try to do my best to compensate, you or any player that can help me out with match vids.

You know me, I do random stuff, Here’s what I was thinking of doing.

  1. I was going to try and incorporate double jumping off certain attacks, as a means, to give leeway in reaction time (buy more time to confirm my intuitions if a player is going to do what I think they’re going to commit to doing.) IE, if I think the opponent is going to jump and attack quickly, I would jump to try and stop them, but if I see that they didn’t jump for whatever, I was going to use the second jump or the dash (if it’s possible to do so after an attack) to get better position.

2, I was not thinking about comboing the double jump off the slash with a punch, however I was thinking that it might be/have been possible to use the jab to lure an attack from the opponent and go into a special move afterwards. (if it is possible to do something after a double jump attack. There is a lot I need to learn about how this game runs. )
For me, cause it’s the way I play, I try to understand how the attack works, and where it’s placed on the target, and try to slip in a lot of random stuff based on guessing and hoping that people don’t expect what I’m doing. Also I work on understanding how the people think.

  1. I also was trying to be able to use defensive tactics to help my offense (which in most games I’m lacking, due to most of my wins coming from defending and counter attacking)

It’ll take some time. I’ll try to make it to Saturday’s GG AC night at Zones, but I’m not sure yet, work is a calling.

Any of you 808 Guilty Gear players, think I’m playing the wrong character? Or is there a character that would suit my style of play better than Sol?

it’s all good. try to come down and get some games in if you can, i want to play a good robo-ky

shin: this is how i play with potemkin. he is not at all difficult, maybe you should try him out. you said you were eventually going to have to pick him up since he’s a command throw character anyway, right? it’s all about anticipating your opponents’ jumps and dash ins and then hitting them with the appropriate PB. he’s like a beefed up zangief, but less difficult to play.

Shin: Should play some Zappa, probably the most random character, which suits you perfectly.

D-pad: lol my Robo-Ky isnt good, My Robo-Ky is like training mode cpu on easy mode, who can sometime block.

Pretzels: I’ll try that suggestion out, I mean any suggestion is better than no suggestion.

D-Pad: You’d be pretty surprised how easy CVS2 Zangief (R/C zangief, P or K Zangief, not too sure about S Zangief since I rarely play him in that groove.) is to learn and play. Surely it’s gonna be very hard to beat really good players with him if you’re facing players that can zone well, keep you from using his grabs and Ja-Ken-Po situational mixups.

I’m going to try him (Potemkin) out too, one day after I take care of some stuff.

I was also wondering, you know that move where Potemkin falls on the ground, and is unblockable? (at least to normal standing block), I remember getting knocked down whenever I tried to dash backwards, and tried to uppercut with Sol. Am I being knocked down because, I’m not considered to be in the air? Or do I have really bad timing, and actually did the backdash on to the move itself? LOL…free infinite on me that move.

IIDX: Thanks for clearing it up. LOL…up until you told me, I thought I was using the old XBox Live Lag tactics to win.

Also, why does 3S lag more on the big TVs (HD? plasma? LCD?) than CVS2, ST, GGXX etc.

EDIT: Sorry, to bring this up, but you could also add Beau into the roster of GG AC players, he plays Sol.
Ryu S. plays Sol as well from what she told me, not too sure about GoukiGirl.

If anyone sees Jeff, could you thank him for me, for saving me 20 bucks. I almost bought KOF 2006 thinking it was KOF XI. LOL…that would have been worse than Pirate’s treasure on a bad day.

yeah I noticed this a lot on the dustloop forums, there seems to be lists of combo’s and which characters to use them on. sounds pretty intense to me. Also I was watching some youtube vids and I’ll be damned her relaunch combos are still around. though they look pretty crazy. I need to practice.

pretzel: in that case, come down and play so you can get a good robo-ky

shin: pot’s slide head (236s) is unblockable on the ground, but you can block it if potemkin’s body hits you. usually people backdash to avoid it since it’s a faster solution than jumping, so maybe you got hit right as the backdash ended like you said.

on a side note: why is my bar red under my name when i post? it says i should go die in a fire…LOL. did someone rate me badly or something?

Hey there all u pro-tastic GGXXAC players! As far as TV’s go, D-Pad bringing one down and setting it up is fine. Thanks to all of the players who came down on last Friday to help support the new GG scene, especially to Wang, Kyle, Shin, etc for making the journey to come down. Any future sessions should be more fruitful as far as competition goes with the addition of a non-lag tv. Sorry again to all the players that you all had to pay to play, but in respect to arcade play it still comes out cheaper considering that playing non-stop for an hour would cost anyone more than $2. As I said last time, play will cost only $1 an hour the next session then $2 then $1 on a rotational basis, merely to support the cost of using the facilities, any extra here and there would be helpful in securing co-operation from management since there are a lot of people taking up space, i.e. shin making people fall down on the fan lol. Other than that D-Pad will post up future dates no this thread and we still play casually during weekdays if anyone can make it. Just give us a call or post up when ur free.

JD Scurb: I remember that guy too, he was holding the pizza, tried to avoid me, and bumped the fan which fell on me. That guy was cool though as we exchanged apologies.

D-pad: LOL…I got neg repped for in the post I edited (I edited asking why I got negged ) with a minus in the comment area.

I’d figure i’d get neg repped for something I say that was out of line. if you have the time, check it out. I don’t see any reason why I should be negged.

Edit: you can see exactly which posts were rated negatively or positively in the user cp section.

for the most part, the thing means nothing…but you can learn about people. As some of those that neg you , will spend the time to do so…and not spend the time to tell you why they did so in the small little comment section all the while, opting to remain anonymous .

It just doesn’t encourage communication when differences in opinions arise. As the person that was negged does not have any means of asking the person why they were negged (if there is a legitimate reason for being negged…being negged for any other reason than for the content of the post is an abuse of power…lol I just had to say that.) because the person doing the neggin has chosen to remain anonymous .

yeah someone neg repped me on a post that wasn’t apparently offensive in anyway. oh well. i just think that’s hilarious. when you highlight my red bar, it says something like “dpad needs to go die in a fire.”

anyway, my jam is in bad shape…i want her to be my main but i can’t play really well with her.

on another note, beau is getting better with sol

Shins Sol Sadguy and My Hobo-Ky vs anybody LOL.

Also how the fuck do those Jump installs work? Are they only used to jump again during a super jump

Shin-Hidoshi and D-Pad:

I did some investigating on your negative rep and double checked it with a srk admin to make sure everything checked out. It seems to be all coming from the same user/source. A user named R | C. I have sent him a pm inquiring if there is a reason for this.

Thanks,
PSX

hey thanks, i no longer need to die in a fire, haha

On Potemkin’s “unblockable” slidehead tactics: This shit is teh gay. If he 6 Hardslash (you block) and he cancels that into a slidehead, you’ll be knocked down. In which case he’ll dash break the hammerfall (26H) to get closer and combo you for homo damage while you’re helpless on the ground.

The only way I know to escape this is to instant block (aka JD) the 6H and jump out, and I think you can backdash out too if you time the dash right. I’ve found out that Faust can also either 5 dust out or pogo to counter hit as he’s going for the slidehead.

I’m sure most already know this, but I’m just putting it out there since more and more people are getting down with the Potemkin (all gay-like) and Testes too (thank god only one person plays that here). So yeah, it’d be a smart idea to tinker around and find out various ways your character can get out of these sort of tactics.

PSX: thanks bro, this place would be so much better if we could just communicate.

oh well.

No problem. To be honest rep won’t harm you good or bad that I am aware of.

I got a response and I think it was just a mistake from the user as he told me has no issues. Im guessing maybe he was planning to click the + rep and clicked the - rep. But o well just water under the bridge.

From R l C

"I actually don’t know who “D-Pad” is.
I have no issues with him/her.

It was most likely a rep given at random."

As for the GGXX thing you guys got going more power to you guys and good luck.

Pretzels: That is one way that Jump Installs can be used. Certain characters can take advantage of JIs by using certain special moves in combos. For example, Chipp can do a double, then triple jump air combo by Jump Installing his midair teleport. Sol can also double jump and continue an air combo by RCing the first hit of his Bandit Revolver, dust/slash + double jump (JI), continue combo and so forth. I am pretty sure there are tons of ways characters can take advantage of JIs whether by specials or super jumps, but those are the obvious uses. When you see Japanese Chipp matches, you will always see Chipp players JI his teleport. It’s a big part of his combo repetoire.

GGAC SESSION ANNOUNCEMENT!!

This coming Saturday (October 6th) there will be a GG:AC session at The Zone at 8:00pm!! Casual gameplay (GGAC practice, MVC2, ST, CVS2, etc) will be held on the two big screen TVs, while serious matches will be held on a smaller, lag-free TV!! Price to play will be 1$ per hour. You can give your total fee to me when you leave or are finished playing. If you have any sticks, please bring them down so we have enough to play on all TVs. Also, if you have a copy of GGAC (the US version), please bring that down as well, just in case people become zealous enough to play Guilty Gear on all three TVs

Also, I noticed last time that there were two main groups playing on each TV. I’d like to encourage everyone to mix up their opponents if possible. Don’t come to the session just to play the same people you play all the time! Take the opportunity to beat down some other people! Of course, this only applies if there is a big turnout like last time, which I hope becomes a standard practice

On another note, what are your guys’ opinions on tournaments for GGAC? I know the skill level in Hawaii is pretty low since we’re just starting to play the game, but I was hoping in maybe two or three weeks from now to hold a casual tournament to promote motivation to get better. By casual, I mean a “$1 entry fee, winner takes all” kind of tourney - I think this would encourage people to enter without fear of losing a lot of money.

Furthermore, times and dates for sessions are flexible, so if there is a more convenient time for you to play, please let me know. And if there are any other questions, please ask.

Please practice up, and I hope to see everyone Saturday!

LOL....damn.....damn. We suck. LOL.....we probably can't even beat Money Man and his kid.
