Hitbox not giving correct inputs

Hi folks! I’ve been having a persistent issue with my Hitbox that I’m hoping y’all can help me fix.

Back in June I bought a Madcatz TE (SFIV Ken edition, seen here: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CGb26sCWsAAyWVY.jpg ) that had been modded into a hitbox. The friend I bought it from says it’s just the original board with a harness from Jasen’s Customs that hooks into the original PCB.

However, I am having persistent issues where it just reads inputs…weird? Here’s an example of me trying to do Shaheen’s fb+2 (https://twitter.com/Scrnshts2/status/1177028329305772034). If I press those inputs though, the game picks up an extra back input on the same frame as the 2 input. I’m pressing the same three buttons every time in that clip, the only thing that changed was pressing 2 at the same time as forward or immediately after pressing forward.
(Edit: I should add that I’ve tried this on both PS4 and PC and it gives identical inputs, so it’s not a platform specific issue. I’ve also tried switching the input between LS and DP and the issue persists)

So, I’d like to figure out what the problem is here. Like, maybe the SOCD cleaner is busted, or maybe the original board? It’s hard to say. I’ve looked at the board and could see none of the usual issues people run into when their TEs start acting up.

So now I come to you all! Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated, and more pictures can be forthcoming if needed.

Thank you!

Quick pic I snapped of the TE board in case it helps anyone.

the way i sees it, it’s not picking up an additional input. the way that tekken’s input log works is that when a direction and a button are “stacked” on the screen, that means that they happened simultaneously. Essentially, you’re hitting f on frame 1, b on frame 2, and b+2 on frame 3. You’re buffering the b+2.

But Shaheen has a move on FB+2 that isn’t coming out is the problem. It’s clearly not just an issue with how Tekken displays the input when I can’t get the move itself to come out on multiple platforms. It’s effortless to do the move on pad or stick, but it doesn’t come out on my hitbox under any circumstances.

Thank you for posting pictures and footage. Unfortunately the input displays from most video games aren’t great for debugging because they don’t show continuous input or negative edges. So you really only see a fraction of what’s going on.

I will suggest checking to make sure that all the cables have good connections. One plausible explanation is that there’s a mechanical loose contact.

Have you tried doing the move without involving the SOCD cleaner?

Does the “extra back” show up if you just do B+2.

Does it show up if you hold B and just slap the stick with your other hand without hitting any of the buttons?
