No selling of any sort outside of the Trading Outlet. No, not even to just mention something on eBay (unless it’s something you bought). This applies doubly so for new members.
Just signed up. I’m on the list, feels good. =D
I’m dying to ask what the wait time is, even though I know the Hitbox guys don’t know themselves.
That’s FANTASTIC. Thanks!
the wait all depends on their stock of parts. If I remember correctly, in October some people only waited 2-3 weeks. I waited about 2 months and some people waited longer than that. People waiting for a ps360 model are still waiting.
Any news on the ps360+ ? I had to pass an xbox tournament this week end
Not yet, no. I know the wait sucks, but you’ll have to believe me when I say when we have news we will tell you.
I’m not sure if I ever got an answer or not, but what brand of glue is it that was used to glue down the PCB in the older style hitboxes? It looks like Old Brown Glue, but it’s lighter in color.
I’m not exactly sure what the brand was, but it was a non-silicone base glue as silicone base glues would short out the PCB. It probably wasn’t Old Brown though, the stuff we used was a type of calking glue.
Thanks for the reply. That means it’s likely either tar-based or protein-based. I should be able to use rubbing alcohol or acetone to loosen it, if not flat-out dissolve it. I’ll try that out, but it may not be for a few days.
Apologies for the double-post, but BOOYAH! Rubbing alcohol totally worked alongside a spudger. Now to soak the bottom of the PCB off to get to those precious, precious solder points.
for your dual-modded hitbox’s… no need to wait on that ps360… mod it… put this with it…done…
Well, rubbing alcohol doesn’t do crap to actually get the glue off. Been soaking for four hours and it’s still on there. Hmm.
Okay, so, its finally come to this. For the greater part of the last year, you’ve had dedicated Hitbox enthusiasts and adopters alike come into this thread and others, and ask for an official Hit Box template. Every time the request is made, the subject is skirted and swept under the rug and lost amongst questions of PCB releast dates and waiting list inquiries.
I think enough is enough. If there is a reason why the Hit Box team has thus far avoided putting one out with official button placements down to the inch, I would very much like to hear it. We’ve asked nicely, we’ve made our own templates of questionable measurements and I want to know why it had to come to this.
Its finally come to a head for me personally because I started on artwork for somebody utilizing the new 16x7 size and realized after staring at the screen for a few seconds that I don’t know WHERE THE HELL the buttons really are. Any guess I take is a very uneducated one, and defeats the purpose of creating art that works around the Hit Box’s button placement. I literally CANNOT.
So at this point, I would like an official explanation for why we still do not have an official Hit Box template for stick art.
As I understand it, the layout itself is property of Hit Box LLC. It is a company secret much like KFC’s 11 herbs and spices. If it is released, then copy-cats will come out of the trash can to make their own button box and sell for profit off Hit Box LLC’s work.
Stop all that, although it would be nice to have an official layout, it is not required by the company to do so. No company has to put out an official layout for their product therefore they dont owe you an explanataion for anything. Maybe they simply dont want people tampering with their art, when you go to a tourney with their official art that is adveritisement for people that are too shy to ask where you got it. Also other people are creating their own hitbox templates so a big selling point for the hitbox is that it is not the “Official” layout like they sell. Although they cant sue for people using their own layout inspired by theirs they still dont want to release an actual template that has all of their positions pin pointed as that is bad for business and will probably stir up something nasty if too many people got the official layout on custom arcade sticks.
Bottomline they owe you nothing but to make you a hitbox arcade controller, dont get it twisted.
I heard from a friend that there is a problem with Microsoft with the new PS360+ card?
Is that the reason why it go so slow? I’m not sure where he got that from but I just want to know if its true.
I’m a grown ass man with a college education. Do you really think I dont know that a business needs to protects its interests and investments? Come on.
If somebody wants to make a stickless arcade stick and sell it, they will. They have to make custom boxes from scratch and do all their own wiring. It comes down to who is willing to take the time and effort to go through all that trouble. Having an official Hit Box button template does not make this any easier for them. People make custom arcade sticks every damn day. They’re not gonna start churning them out like a factory and put Hit Box out of business, especially since they have to drill their own holes among with a slew of other work they’ve got to put in.
Hit Box putting out an art template for their sticks changes, quite literally, nothing.
The difference then is that custom modders have their own mockup, for which they can make any artwork they want to, because they know exactly where the damn holes are, whereas somebody who just spent $160+ shipping and handling on an official Hit Box is pretty much shit out of luck.
Up until now, I’ve been more than happy to make Hit Box templates for people to use, and I got the button placement pretty damn near close to what the official one is, I’m guessing, since nobody’s voiced any complaints. Except now there’s this new 16x7 design and I dont know what goes where.
I guess if you want to argue that all I care about is the art, you’ve caught me. I like to personalize, and I have people who look to me to help them with art because its not their strong suite. I’m just asking for a hand from the Hit Box team to make sure the product I deliver to them with my name on it is really the best it can be. shrugs I’d just like the official word on it, that’s all.
i am not trying to put you down at all i am just trying to let you know the possible reasons. Thats cool you have a college education, then why cant you take a first grade hint. I have seen you post in here before about wanting an accurate template from hitbox, and it seems hitbox kindly ignored you on that. This usually means that they dont want to make a template to put out there just yet or they are just too busy, so messing with something as trivial as a template is low on their list right now. You providing people with art is very nice however that goes with what i was saying earleir, the more sticks out there with their actual hitbox logo on it drives more business and is pretty much the best type of advertisement.
When you were speaking in your post, you were making it sound like they owed you something with your fed up talk and your enough is enough. I was just telling you that they do not owe you anything except making a hitbox arcade controller. That is it, i dont know how long you have been around but no big company usually puts out a template for their own product, they are for the most part fan made. So you getting mad at hitbox for not putting out a template so you can sell art for it is just like getting mad at hori for not putting out a template for a stick they made or madcatz not putting out a stick that they made. It is irrelevent, and like you said you have made art for a previous version of theirs, if you want to make art for another version you are probably going to have to get it so you can do so.
Just saying
Yeah, I get it. I probably will have to make my own again. I guess it really comes down to just being “my problem” for wanting to make something nice. Oh well. And for the record, the art I make is totally free, I just do it for fun and practice. I was really annoyed before, but I guess I cant do shit about it.
ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS THE ART!!! Hah, just playing. But anywho, if someone really wanted to get an accurate template I bet they could make one correct with as little as 1/16th of an inch margin of error (just like people, who really want to, are making their own custom stickless sticks - as you pointed out). All you need is a hitbox, a ruler, and photoshop. It’s not too hard. Just find someone with a new hitbox case that’s willing to do some trial and error with you.
