Hit Box - We so S Tier1!

I know it’s not hitbox’s fault. It’s akishop. But there’s no reason why hitbox can use a different PCB along with an xbox 360 PCB and use a 7400 switch to get it to work correctly. It would cost more money, but I think the people who have been on the waiting like for 9 months would rather pay more money than wait another 3-4 months.

So basically… hitbox COULD have been making 360 hitboxes this whole time, but choose not to. I don’t know. Maybe there’s some other reason they aren’t. I’m not a business person so I really can’t criticize, but I’m just sick of waiting and I’ve only been waiting a little over 2 months. I can’t imagine what these people who have been waiting since march and april are thinking.

<- Been waiting since February.

I’m right there with ya but I guess it’s not been as bad for me because I play on PC and just use my keyboard in a HitBox button layout. Still, I want to start playing my friends face to face and go to some events already.

I have been waiting for 4 months ^^ But I have patience hehe.
And I can’t even play fighting games atm, cause my arcade stick is broken. (lived for 2 years)
I do not see any point in trying to fix it now when I will get my Hitbox later xD

Just take your time Grim, don’t rush it and fix the problem =)
I would rather wait longer and get a PS360+ that works perfect ^^ cause I know it will be worth the wait
I still hope that I will have it before November 22 when King of Fighters XIII(13) comes out <3
But I wont be pissed if I don’t have it at that time, everything has a meaning in life :sunglasses:
Also can you say hi to Dustin for me? =)

This is what someone from GC wrote on facebook back to me. People still apparently believe blocking both ways is still possible.

Yeah but the old ones are still out there… so… there’s probably not really a way to tell.

None of our older boxes allowed SOCD on console either. The wood boxes did when you plugged them into a Supergun cabinet, but not on a PS3.

You can buy a ps3 one and dual mod. There are alot of people that are doing it. Also there’s a converter that works really well. Cant seem to remember that name but it’s there.

If you can remember the name of the converter that would be great. I tried the XCM CrossFire adapter and it was a no go. The only other converter that I heard/read worked is the “PS2/PS3 to Xbox360 Controller Converter Pro”. I looked into that one as well and it is basically impossible to find.

I’ve been looking into this one as well, but have not had any luck.

But double-blocking IS still possible.

Remember, just because HitBox PCB’s do SOCD cleaning doesn’t mean SOCD’s no longer exist.

I would, begrudgingly, approve this decision, since otherwise TO’s would have to police every single Stickless that was brought in, yes, including Hitboxes for SOCD’s, which I’ve always said would be completely unreasonable.

EVO ruled it as tournament legal, GC is the first tourney, even if it is a weekly, to enforce a ban on them. I thought it was standard practice for tourneys to use EVO’s rules.

it’s a simple matter to test for SOCD. If a match comes up with someone using a stickless arcade stick kindly ask them to hold left and right while you’re doing button checks. Verify that it doesn’t work. If it works notify a TO.

And if I’m not mistaken pads and custom sticks can do this anyway. So it is biased to Ban only the hit box when basically every peripheral out there could be capable of doing it. Even if someone brings in a an official TE they may have modded it.

The natural tendency is to give someone holding a TE the benefit of the doubt that they haven’t modded it to block both ways. So if someone with an official hit box is turned away because they might have modded their hit box that’s nothing but clear bias against the hit box.

“Standard Practice” still leaves room for individual choice. If they want to enforce a ban, they are free to.

Again, I would also discourage banning stickless at all for most of the reasons we’ve gone over a hundred times before, but if they cannot justify the risk of not dealing with the problems SOCD’s do produce, they are at least being smart about dealing with those problems.

At the end of the day, we would all like to not see these bans, but what would you rather see? Banning from Marvel only, or banning from EVERYTHING?

I would like fair and just bans. If Hit Boxes are banned because they can potentially perform SOCD’s, then ban pads as well at the very least since they can, without any modifications, perform SOCD’s as well. If SOCD is really an issue, remove everything that creates that issue. If they were serious about banning the SOCD then they would ban all home controllers and provide controllers for people to use. Just the fact that they claim SOCD is an issue but only puts a ban on the Hit Box shows pretty clear bias to me.

Another indication of bias, in my opinion, is that while all TO’s certainly do have the choice to place whatever bans they want, they banned something that EVO decided was perfectly fine and tournament legal, which is really unheard of for the most part in the fighting game community, at least in the US. Honestly, even with SOCD if your game can be completely shut down by someone blocking your cross ups in MvC3 of all games, your play style has some serious problems. The issue has been discussed to death and the only people I’ve seen to have a problem with it is Guard Crush, even though it ISN’T a problem. Not even because EVO says it isn’t, but because most people have been going out of their way to make sure their controller CAN’T do SOCD’s like Hit Box does. If anyone seriously wanted to abuse SOCD, they would. They would mod their stick and they would abuse it. Ever notice how no one does it?

The fact of the matter is no one WANTS to abuse SOCD, if they did they would have been doing it already and no one would buy a $160 controller to do it when they can do it on their own controller right now. I would be perfectly fine with the ban if it was an actual effective ban, but all I’m seeing is a pretty clear bias against the Hit Box for whatever reason. They’re not honestly going out of their way to ban SOCD’s, they’re just banning the Hit Box because they don’t like it. I’m not even trying to put Guard Crush on blast, I have a lot of respect for the guys involved, it’s nothing personal, but I personally feel that this ban is ridiculous.

i got a ps3 hitbox and use it on pc currently but im getting it modded tomorrow by a nice guy of the fourms so thats a bonus, i’m sure the double blocking thing will be removed in umvc and if not then im not gonna go about and do it anyway no fun in cheating/abusing stuff like that play for fun ^^

It is actually harder to block crossups with the HitBox. Such a harder thing than it looks to lift up one finger and press the other direction without having several frames where you have both pressed (left+right = neutral).

Oh, by the way for those that want to practice thier 360’s, go buy Virtua Fighter 5. The dojo, display settings, input display shows a joystick and buttons. So you can really have a strong visual cue to precisely work on your 360 motion. I am definitely getting faster and more consistent with it.

agreed. hurry up akishop. its just a pcb. grrrr

Off topic, but do you guys on the HitBox team play, or even have time to try to play competitively? Not just saying this randomly, but the marketing trend seems to be street cred for determining which fighting gear is “cool to have”. Case and point being MadCatz, Giantsword, etc. I know Upa’s trying to make his rounds already, so that could be it right there.

Just throwing it out there.

On topic: If anyone has ideas on converters for the HitBox, I’m all ears.

Upa and Dustin compete at just about every WNF, we all went to EVO, Upa played in ReveLAtions, and probably more that I can’t think of. So yes, we play competitively when we can.

I remember the first time I heard about or saw the hitbox was the old wooden cases when dustin made it pretty far at a WNF mvc3 tournament earlier in the year… He’s good. Hah.
