First off, thanks for the fast shipping and service, I was on the waiting list for probably 2 weeks (maybe less) which is very reasonable. However, I am still confused on the dual-modding issue. I own a 360 but not a ps3, but I ordered the ps3 hitbox to use for now on GGPO/Supercade. My reasoning was that I could get a converter or a dual-mod to eventually play on my 360 once Skullgirls/SFxT come out (I’m bored of sf4 atm).
However, it seems that there are no good ps3/360 converters, and from what I’m reading in this thread dual-modding with current 360 PCB’s that are on the market does not work well (missed inputs, etc). What should I do? Is there a specific PCB already on the market that I could mod with that wouldn’t mess up the inputs, or should I wait for the PS360+ PCBs? Is there actually a decently lagless converter out there that will actually work for what I need? (I don’t need 0ms of lag but I’d prefer less).
Any and all help/advice is appreciated.
EDIT: Just to be clear I’m fine with not being able to play on 360 for a few months, but when you guys do get your custom dual-mod PCBs in is there any chance I could buy one from you? I know a couple people that could probably do the mod.
Sorry, can’t tell you how many people are on the waiting list for dual mods. Because of the way we have the waiting list set up we haven’t counted
Our first order probably won’t be big enough to take care of EVERYONE who is on the waiting list waiting for a dual mod, but it’ll take care of plenty of people.
Sorry, we don’t sell parts. And the issue with dual modding is that you don’t get our beneficial firmware when you switch over to 360 mode. It doesn’t ruin the inputs, it just makes them harder than our PCB. For example, because left and right cancel each other out on a Hit Box, left+down+right gets you just down. It doesn’t seem like a big thing, but this actually makes half circles a lot easier. You might be able to find someone who can dual mod and put in a similar firmware for the 360 PCB.
We use high priority shipping, so it should take 5-8 days at the longest.
So since people can’t find out about their position on the wait list, can they at least shoot a message to someone in the staff to see if their date is correct for date of inquiry? A lot of people are worried that since their date of inquiry is wrong on the website, they will lose their place in line if they pre ordered before then.
Simple, with our PCB it is impossible to send both left and right or up and down. This makes it impossible for things like double blocking in MvC3 or other shenanigans from being possible. No walking forward and doing a sonic boom, no blocking both directions, no standing up flash kicks.
Sound idea however when i tried to do that i failed most of the time, and landed 1-10 parries that way.
Went into training mode and found that since the game will register in order down, down-back, back, plinking wont one the directional button since your cant press down-back to parry.
You can make your own for personal use or non-profit, but if you start selling controllers with our layout we have the legal right to take action against you. Not saying that we would exactly, but if it comes to it we could.
Does “controllers” include something as simple as just a replacement cover plate? If so, that’s about as silly as Bethesda taking the Minecraft creator to court for using the word “Scrolls”.
I had already orded and received everything I needed to change my TE into a 360 stickless controller without the firmware (while waiting for my Hitbox queue to be up) except for the cover. I’m going to be mega salty if I am soon told that I’ll not be able to get it now due to something trivial, and then end up having to wait until January for the real deal (which is why I decided to mod my stick in the first place).
As far as I know, the replacement cover plates are fine. I think what he was saying is that you can’t make a controller/stick/what have you and then sell it to someone for profit.
I’m not really seeing the difference between ordering a cover (which means I bought it from someone else who is making a profit) or an entire stick already assembled for you vs you modding your own with the same parts purchased seperately. That’s why I brought it up. This of course happened before any mention of a patent…
Oh, well maybe I’m wrong. But I’m pretty sure I’ve seen replacement cover plates still being sold out there. I would think that if it were an issue it would have already been addressed.
They are technically selling our layout so I suppose we could, even if that sounds silly to you, but like I said even if we could it doesn’t necessarily mean we’re going to. We’re a growing company and things like that are kinda bad for our business, but at the same time we understand where the customers are coming from. The people who are buying the custom top plates either don’t want to wait a couple months to get an official Hit Box or don’t want to spend the money for one and neither of those things are something we can change to satisfy people.
Right now we care more about people trying it out and playing on it more than people buying from us, because the more people who try it out and like it the more people will want the official product. The more Hit Boxes that are out there the more interest grows and the more people we have coming to us either for our tutorial videos or for placing an order. Some people will of course go somewhere else and that’s not something we’re happy about, but if it gets another Hit Box in someone’s hands it’s worth it.
