wo. how u do dat.
Guys chill.
He wasnt trying to be a jerk, trust me i know him IRL and he doesnt have the capacity to be a dick, honestly you just read that wrong. Now moving on to back up what john said in a less jerky way i guess lol.
We can go the routes you guys are suggesting (using different boards etc) but honestly we cant/wont do that. Trust me when I say that we searched and exhausted all possible options in regards to everything about the hit box. From the case to the insides, the ps 360 board at the end would have been the fastest and cheapest way possible to go about making the Hit boxâs with. The team of builders is 4 guys, with real jobs and real life priorities. The no soldering on the ps360 and its legit status among modders was just the premium choice. With that said we already made an initial investment in the ps360, However, we did not forsee the incident that happened in japan which is causing all these delays. Moving to another 3rd party would cause further financial delays.
We also do not want to sell premature hit boxâs with different components that we havent really fully tested yet and then later on start selling different hit boxâs with different components. To us that will not create a uniform product to our satisfaction. So we chose to be patient and wait on the ps360.
Theres alot i cannot say about this in public and I dont want to sound like a bank statement âwe appreciate your patience and we are sorry for any inconvenienceâ But we really DO! Simple interest is driving us to continue this project and trust me we are working ourselves to the bone to provide you guys with such a kick ass product. We just ask a little bit more patience .
thank you
Im glad you really like the Hit box ,as tekken player myself, i know movement is crucial. as far as the layout goes, give me some time to talk that one over with the huffer brothers (dustin and Shawn). to see how the feel about that. as soon as i get an answer, we can discuss that one over PMâs.
Pressing <+>=neutral on the newer hit boxes. Thats actually an issue with how the console games would respond to those movements not which pcbâs are being used.
thanks for trying to explain,
I still dont get it , so why wasnât it <+>=neutral on the older hit boxes what was different?
I am asking because I want to make a WASD controller and I want to make sure <+> is not neutral (on the pc)
I donât exactly remember what the first results with our boards were, but we got a firmware from Toodles that makes all SOCDâs result in neutral that we now use and will continue to use. If you buy a board chances are itâs not going to make SOCD inputs result in neutral, however Iâm sure the people you play might not enjoy that as much as you do.
My apologies, I wasnât trying to be a jerk, I was just explaining why we arenât using the Paewang. Itâs a great project board, but itâs not such a great idea for mass production. I really appreciate the feedback and trying to help us with our issues, and I really wish we could just make the boxes we want with the parts we want and have everyone be happy, but some things arenât that easy.
If all goes well we can start shipping out some boxes next week and make amends for the long wait. The last thing we wanted to do was make everyone who had already been waiting for months wait any longer, but when we got word from TL that they wanted us to run a booth we had to take it as a means to launch our product. In the future weâll try as much as possible to avoid a similar situation happening because it really did pain us to make you guys wait as long as we have.
Itâs completely understandable that the current situation is out of your hands so no one should hold that against you. At the very least if you could let us know as soon the ps360 hitboxes are available, I for one definitely want the option of playing on both systems. Iâd rather wait a little bit longer and get exactly what I want rather than to try and rush things.
thanks mate. I only play sf4 so i dont consider it a cheat, it does not block on both directions or anything.
We will absolutely be making an announcement in this thread and to everyone who sent an e-mail pre-order when we get our boards in. I the mean time we do have PS3 only boxes available to anyone who is fine with that, and with some padhack know how you can make it a dual mod in a hurry.
I Emailed you, but I donât think you guys saw it.
Iâll just post here.
I cannot seem to figure out how much they cost. There are a few pricings, and this is probably from differences in models, yes? Whatâs the price for the current model?
With the 360 dual mod being unavailable Iâm considering getting the PS3 version. I have a 360 SE stick that Iâm willing to gut, it wouldnât be too hard to rip the PCB out of there and do a dual mod myself would it?
And how about empty cases? Because as of right now I donât actually need any PS3 functionalityâŚ
Shoutouts the staff at Hit Box for completely ignoring my post. You guys seem like you are TRYING for a first business venture, so I will over look it. You guys really need to find a way to get good PR after this though.
So will you guys be doing anything to compensate those that have been waiting as an apology?
You could at least sell the dual modded boxes for those that have had them pre ordered from April back for the same price as the ps3 only hit boxes.
Gives them at least a reason to keep on waiting without feeling too cheated.
Our PS3 only boxes run $160 at the moment and last time I checked dual mods ran $185. Things are subject to change as our process improves and our quality gets better, but for now thatâs what the prices are.
Iâm sure there are guides all over the internet on how to dual mod or you can ask any of the fine modders here on SRK for help. As for empty cases, we have no plans to sell such a product. If youâre willing to put everything else together you can put your own case together.
We never intended to ignore your post, we simply canât be on the internet at every second of the day. Honestly if your post did get ignored it probably had something to do with the mean spirited wording. As weâve announced several months ago, those who have been waiting will be getting a discount on whatever box they want.
Thanks for clearing that up.
Looks like Iâll be saving up for a while.
A few other questions:
[]If we padhack 360 support in, will that affect the l+r = neutral feature?
[]How long do we need to have been waiting for to get the discount?
[]I assume the âPS3 onlyâ boxes are standard USB and work on PC, correct?
[]If I switched to ordering a non-360 model right now how long do you think it would take to ship?
- Not to my knowledge, no.
- Last time I checked it was any pre-order before Revelations.
- Absolutely. No modding or 3rd party drivers required, our âPS3â boxes work on PC natively.
- Since we havenât started shipping out boxes yet (again, we apologize, weâre working as fast as we can) it would just be a simple matter of switching out your order, so youâd get it at the same time if not earlier what with PS360 boards not being available at the moment.
SOCD (Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Directions, just for reference, Iâll use it a lot) output in 360 depends on the PCB. The TE 360 PCB, for example, will still output SOCD, even when Dual Modded with Cthulhu. This is because of the two wires connected to each button. One is the signal, which is normally HIGH (5 volts), the other is ground (0V, or LOW). When the button is pushed, the signal wire is connected to the Ground wire, so then the signal wire becomes 0, or LOW. When a Cthulhu or other common ground PCB reads the signal as being LOW, it tells the system that the button/direction is being pushed down. Cthuhlu, however, is coded so that Left + Right = neutral, so even if it reads both signal wires as low, the coding prevents it from outputting both at the same time.
However, for 360 PCBs that are common ground and can output SOCD, such as the TE 360 PCB, when they read that Left and Right are LOW, they output both Left and Right. The Cthulhu would only be able to prevent this from happening IF it were able to pull a HIGH on both Left and Right. But it canât, because you are pushing Left and Right down, so, they are directly connected to a ground wire. If the Cthulhu tried to force the two to be HIGH, then youâd cause some real problems. Itâs safe to have a HIGH voltage touch a Ground when the IC (Integrated Circuit aka âmicrochipâ) is polling for Input, which it is, itâs scanning for you to Input the direction you want to move, thatâs because it uses a pullup resistor to keep it from drawing too much current. However, if it were to try to force both Left and Right to be HIGH (unpushed to the 360 PCB), that means the IC would have to switch those pins to Output, and when a pin is in Output mode, no pullup resistor, so you would be connecting the ground wire directly to a HIGH with no resistance, which means the PCB would have to be disconnected from the system, because it would be drawing too much current, and because Cthulhu and 360 PCB are sharing a power source, they both get disconnected.
Unless if Hit Box is using a logic gate to force Left to be HIGH when Left and Right are LOW, as well as Right to be HIGH when Left and Right are LOW, then should be fine.
Thanks for the quick reply! Iâm updating my order now.
Also thatâs interesting, I didnât realize there was actually a hardware limitation on it.
Edit: I just realized, l+r equals neutral means that half circles will be as easy as people were asking for now, so thatâs good. Does d+u still equal up though? I hope that is the case, for the sake of playing chargers and jump cancellers.
So if I use a pcb from a standard wireless 360 controller, would l+r= neutral?
It really depends if the controller PCB would make Left and Right pressed simultaneously output nothing or if it would output both directions. I personally donât know, since I use a joystick.
In short, the new Cthulhu PCB in Hit Boxes canât manipulate the way another PCB will act, even if theyâre dual modded. If it tried, it would cause a bad short circuit.
Thanks, I guess Iâll just have to make my box then see what happens :S. Has anybody made a hit box from a controller? I am kinda worried not many people have done it, and Iâm a total noob so I doubt I will be able to fix it if the inputs screw up.
