Well now I feel completely silly. This entire time, I had no idea that RS+turbo+back would force the board I am using into “360 controller mode” on PC, instead of it simply being PC compatible. So it now functions exactly the same as it does on the 360 (which is what I wanted) on PC. Will still probably end up buying a PS4 hitbox though if they ever start producing them since I will more than likely own SF5 for PC and PS4 despite the intended “cross platform play”.
I don’t really understand the big deal with it, but apparently back plus forward being neutral is supposed to allow some kind of shoto tricks. Or at least that’s how it’s being advertised on the hitbox channel, although I have absolutely no idea what kind of advantage it’s supposed to give.
As far as the way a keyboard works (which is how my controller works), there’s no real “advantage” over a stick for directions aside from charge characters. You can hold back the entire time, and just hit forward plus a button (while still holding back) to get the move you want. All this does is makes it so that you would get a sonic boom/crusher/whatever as fast as humanly possible. It also makes doing supers and ultras with charge characters ridiculously easy. It doesn’t work though how the original Hitbox worked in that you could simultaneously block in both directions.
We go over a lot more things than that on the youtube channel. The big thing is that left+right being neutral makes your half circles cleaner and easier. Dashing/double forward/back inputs also get a benefit if you’re willing to do different motions, which leads into DP FADC Ultra in USF4 without ever letting go of the forward button.
Hello. I was wondering, with the new PCB coming for next gen consoles, will this also have an effect for PC as well? As in, a new PCB for PC or something along those lines? Thanks for the great work
I have another question. Some PC fighters require an Xbox type controller (BlazBlue on Steam for example). Does this have an effect on the new Hitboxes as well? For someone who only plays on PC would you recommend the Xbox1 version to deal with such compatibility issues or does it not matter at all with the new Hitboxes? Thanks in advance
Why would you recommend that one? Do you think the Xbox1 version will not be backwards compatible with older games on PC? To clarify, I would like one of these for playing Skullgirls and Melty Blood mostly on PC. Since it’s a new product I can’t find any reviews of it so I’m asking here naturally. Of course no controller is perfect, but the more research before purchase the better of course.
It’s not out yet and the ps360 has been proven to work fine both on PC and console. Some Xbox one controllers have had issues on pcs with the triggers, and since the new pcb for hitbox isn’t out yet, you can either wait and get one when it comes out or just get what’s proven. Which is why I asked if you had an xb1 or not, since that makes more sense than waiting.
Oh, I see now. No, I do not own any consoles. Just play on PC. I guess I’m just going to wait and see what the reviews will say about PC performance. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated
I’ll let you wait then. You’re obviously new to gaming and/or arcade sticks. What would one controller have over another controller when it’s boxed up and wired to a bunch of buttons? Same amount of buttons, I might add. There literally is no benefit other than it works with Xbox one as opposed to PS3/360. For your purposes, if you asked me to mod a hitbox to work on either console, I would only recommend the more expensive one simply to make more money.
Hehe, indeed, am new to arcade sticks Well, the thing is, I always wondered if there is some performance difference between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. I’m thinking if there is, one way or another, and the new PCB makes use of this it’s only a good thing to wait. Again, new the arcade sticks and may just be thinking rubbish. Perhaps you would be so kind as to inform me
I already did. The only reason you would want a xbox one hitbox is for xbox one games. If you want a PC/Windows controller, I would recommend the ps360+ version. When you press home on 360 mode, it works like it does on a 360 - brings up the guide menu if the game supports it. XB1 controllers on PC do not do this. in PC mode for ps360+, you can map the home button to whatever in MAME/whatever game you need.
Seriously, if it weren’t for BlazBlue or whatever else needs the guide button, any PC controller would be fine. Even if this PCB were USB 3.0, which it probably isn’t, it won’t do much for you since it’s not transferring data like a hard drive or whatever. The buttons are the same, the inputs are the same, the lag (if you buy into that thing) will be same as ps360+ or worse, and you have to wait until it’s released (assuming you didn’t preorder this first round).
tl;dr 360 mode acts as a 360 controller, xb1 does not. You lose one button. PC mode you can map guide/home to whatever you want. Available now.
