Hit Box - We so S Tier1!

I am awaiting Akishop to make the ps360+ open source and will be testing new input types that should hopefully address tiger knee and charge inputs. If all goes well I’ll be talking to the Hitbox Team on finding a way to incorporate these changes. The changes to be tested:
[]2 switches for L/R and U/D
[
]Each switch toggles SOCD neutral or Last Input
Currently it is:
[]L/R = SOCD neutral
[
]U/D = up priority
With this we can toggle 3 optimal settings:

Standard QCF/DP style inputs:
[]L/R = SOCD neutral
[
]U/D = Last Input
This will fix tiger knees as you can now input U,D,DF,F instead and be even faster since you’re leading with the jump

Charge Characters:
[]L/R = Last Input
[
]U/D = Last Input
This will help with many inputs such as Guile’s Ultra 1.

3D Fighters:
[]L/R = SOCD neutral
[
]U/D = SOCD neutral
Allows SOCD double/triple taps in all directions.

It’s a trip to see how everyone differs with the Hitbox. That’s the amazing human factor! I’m actually practicing a lot to make Hitbox my main. I don’t want to have to haul two sticks around. I agree with Will Gentry with tiger knee(cammy’s) are difficult to time actually when your jumping in air and executing.

First world problem I’m having currently is that I’m pressing the H too fast on the instant air down grapple with Spencer. I have to train myself to slow down the attack press because the input comes out so fast on the hitbox.

My problem with that is I do 239 instead of 2369. I press up too fast and don’t get the necessary 6. I’m not having this problem with lightning loops @_@. I feel like I’ll get it any minute now…

Edit: Got it… I have to tap down instead of holding it at all. Up would cancel down if I was holding down, so it’d skip the 6. Problem solved.

dammit, after attempting to install the ps360+, i managed to fuck up everything. there was a period where i had all the buttons working correctly, but then i could only get the start/select/home buttons working. now nothing. even if i did get it all working correctly, the mount for the old PCB doesn’t fit the new one at all, so the new one would just be flopping around my case.

i don’t know how to fix this. i was thinking about just putting the cthulu PCB back in, but it isn’t labeled like the ps360+ is. i’m not sure which wire goes where on it.

Saddens me to see so many days go by without people posting here. Anyways… I have a question for the players. What game did you play while adjusting to the hitbox? I hit the training room and missions in marvel. Even played some games I never played before like Melty Blood and SFxT just to keep things as random as possible. I’m about to get Persona 4 Arena and I’m actually gonna play the crap out of that. I’m also waiting for this Guilty Gear patch cus I don’t want to give Japan another 20 bucks to get their version.

SSF4 AE and Injustice. I don’t try to juggle multiple games. I have never liked marvel either it is fun to watch, but I hate playing it. I think AE teaches you how to get used to it pretty fast. Also if I get real bored I put in SFxTK, but then I quickly remember why I don’t play that game.

I have UMVC but I don’t play it too much. I got my Hitbox because of AE. On a stick I found even the simplest moves like Dragon Punches and Hadokens were not coming out as consistently as I wanted. The Hitbox cleaned that up and SFxT let me do more.

any tips for pressing multiple directions and buttons at the same time?

If you’re right handed I’d say for right hand it’s muscle memory, and for left hand it’s time and muscle memory. You might have to work on muscles in your weaker fingers that you haven’t really used much before. If it’s marvel and we’re talking about super jumping it’s significantly easier as you only have to do a tiger knee without pressing an action button.

I learned on UMVC3. I use it on any fighter though.

Thanks, I figured that, im learning guitar too so i bought a hand exerciser to help with finger strength

If you play guitar work on your endurance by playing longer with rests in between. It’s a different type of muscle building/training when your isolating it with a hand exerciser vs playing for longer(scales, accuracy/precision when going fast). I would focus on flexibilty. As my mentor tells me, " If you wanna get good at something, practice but not just normal practice it’s perfect practice that makes perfect" I’m a bassist and it helps that I have the dexterity/endurance to play on my Hitbox without feeling fatigued.

For me mainly it’s AE, I really want to try injustice. I do wish people posted more here but I can’t speak for myself. Been pretty busy lately with work and stuff.

So, anyone here have an LED modded Hitbox? Looking for 24mm button LEDs but not having much luck. Just preordered some Crystal HBSF30-G2 and HBSF24’s and I’m hoping someone has some experience LED modding a Hitbox. The only 24mm button LED’s I’ve found are the Pele LEDs from ParadiseArcade but I have my concerns as to whether they will actually fit in the tight constraints of the bottom of a Hitbox with how compact the 24mm buttons are packed together.

Is there currently a way to disable the SOCD cleaning feature that comes standard with the Hit Box? I’d prefer not to use it unless it was needed to prevent “broken” stuff (like blocking both ways in Vanilla MvC3).

I would ask Gummo (not sure if his name is spelled correctly). His a reputable modder that loves doing LED mods. His from the modding/sale forum.

I’m not sure if you can, is yours the Multi-Console version? To my best knowledge, it’s firmware updated. Not sure if that can be reversed. What I would recommend is you can build one using a xbox fightpad/non official controller PCB since you wouldn’t have to worry about SOCD cleaning. There’s people that made ones out of tupperwares to try it out.

I updated the firmware on mine recently. There’s a guide on how to do it if you google for ps360+ firmware update. I’d say it’s very easy to do after your first time. Also logically, downgrading the firmware should work and be fine, but I’d get a second opinion. I’d also ask the guys who make the thing for a version of the firmware where SOCD cleaning is disabled, or at least try to get directions on how to edit the firmware to do it yourself. Why would you want to disable it anyways? I understand that charge characters can be a little weird at first but can’t you adapt past that?
