Hindsight bias: Capcom definitely SHOULD HAVE rebalanced 3rd Strike

Was playing 3rd Strike again, and it’s still has the most engaging, purest fighting gameplay out there. It’s such a shame that 3S:OE was completely stillborn at the tournament scene because of the balance. IMO, Capcom should have just included an arcade perfect port, however did some MINOR changes to the characters just to even the playing field and inject some new life blood into the game.

Oi vei.

OT:

your sig and this, coincidence?

it didn’t go anywhere in the tournament scene because most people aren’t playing 3s anymore and the ones who are only wanna play arcade perfect. Gootecks was talking about how his 3s revival didn’t go anywhere because people just did not want to play the game on console.

if there had been a rebalance maybe people would’ve played it a bit to see how it was but ultimately we would’ve ended up in the same place we’re at anyway. except then people would be bitching that a rebalance exists at all and that Capcom took a dump on a great game.

if it was rebalanced, I wouldnt play it, fuck rebalancing.

Guys, this is a FGD post that was moved here. What are you expecting?

People learned their lesson with ST/HDR. Making a rebalanced version does more harm than good. All it will do is split the playerbase.

MAN FUCK THAT 3S IS PERFECTLY BALANCED MAN ITS THE BEST GAME EVER MADE AND ANY RATIONAL PEOPLE WHO DONT HAVE BLINDERS ON THAT SAY DIFFERENT MAN THEY JUST HATE N

it wasn’t the balance that killed it. It was the fact that Derek Neal said “arcade perfect” and it wasn’t. Plus the online portion is lackluster at best. The balance is the furthest thing from peoples mind guy.

No.

did you get banned again?

This thread is gonna be great.

Probably wouldn’t have been done any better than the port itself.

The online is so bad that it actually made me stop playing 3S entirely. The whole hearing the sound effects for moves and it never coming out is what did it for me. I did a fierce Shoryuken with Ken, I heard the sound effect for it but it never came out.
