I’ve searched Google as well as here at Tech Talk but I can’t seem to find answers. I’m wondering if there’s a high quality PC/PS3 gamepad that has microswitched buttons as well as analog sticks? All of the gamepads I’ve found with microswitched buttons are “fightpads” that have a d-pad but no analog sticks. I have the Dualshock 2 and 3 as well as the Sixaxis and the Power A Elite Wireless.
On a side note: is it technically possible for controllers to use a higher DPI analog stick? Would console software have to support it for it to work? I recall reading that most gamepad analog sticks are only between 200 and 400 DPI, which when compared to a PC mouse is incredibly low resolution.
Here is what you described
No, that model has a digital thumbstick. I’m talking about a pad that has microswitched buttons and d-pad but the usual two analog thumbsticks.
Before I bought a TE stick I used to play SFIV with my old PS1 controllers (DS1) with a USB adapter on my PS3.
They have digital buttons (not analog buttons like DS2 and 3), including the shoulder buttons, and 2 analog sticks.
I guess original DS1 controllers should be real hard to find now, tough.
As far as I know, The ONLY pad still available at retail or online right now that has microswitched buttons is the PDP pad. You’ll be looking at rubber-dome-contact-buttons for any other controller out there.
That sucks. You’d think a manufacturer like Razer, Hori, or Madcatz would make a premium gamepad with those features. I’m avoiding the Razer Onza for PC use as I’ve read it has numerous issues.
