Hi, I have a Hori VX stick that i bought 30mm Sanwas for

So i bought these 30mm Sanwas without looking at the board (because I’m a noob) and the pins are flat, the board accepts needle points. Are there another type of Sanwas I can order? What can i do?

No.

You have to remember that the Hori VX / V3 are poorly designed ‘mod yourself’ sticks, a better example would be the MadCatz SE / Brawlstick. You can still do it but you will need to know some modding basics:

  1. Soldering & desoldering. You must first remove the old buttons by removing the pcb holding them in place

  2. Wiring and / or crimping. The new Sanwa buttons will need to be connected to the Hori motherboard in some way. I would recommend crimping quick disconnects to wire to form a daisy chain to Ground the buttons then terminate this to any of the pcb’s GND points. Then crimp a wire for each of the button signals and solder the ends to their respective points on the pcb.

Ok so I am gonna wire the button to the pcb, will that have a delay as compared to a direct connection? Also is crimping necessary?

  1. There will be no delay that isn’t already there.

  2. Crimping is not necessary but it is much cleaner and convenient. You could simply solder the wires to each metal prong on the button, but this will mean soldering is necessary if you ever want to replace a button.

Ok thank you very much for the advice! I appreciate it.
