you know when they first released pics of the game i thought it was pure ass, sans ryu’s face expression when ken tatsu’d him in the face. it was in the first screen shots released in the EGM.
although it’s hard to tell, they’ve gone back and fixed some things about the models like the retarded shoulder syndrome they all seemed to be suffering from. the shoulder/arm joints still seem weird to me but at least they look better now.
anybody else notice the copy/paste look of everybody’s model? they look exactly the same but as if they threw in one of those custom character options where you can make them bigger, smaller, fat, skinny… what have you (although they all have been hitting the gym way too hard).
but worst of all is we get all the sf2 characters AGAIN. they fill up almost 90% of the cast. it’s “been here, done that” all over again. and they look the same especially their moves.
would it kill the designers to alter their costumes a bit more? one of the most changed is Dhalsim since he’s wearing some kind of wrap instead of shorts. the worst in my opinion is dictator. he’s a carbon copy of his sf2 self to the last detail. fucking boring
i know this is a refresh of the series but it reminds me too much of capcom in the 90’s.
first sf2:ww. then sf2:ce. then sf2:hf. then sf2:turbo. then supersf2. then finally ssf2t.
anyone hoping for sf3 at the time gave up a long time ago. i stopped playing sf after Super Turbo. i liked it, but it got boring. why the fuck did they take so long to release sf3? by the time sf3 came out i had no idea it existed. mainly because i would have never expected sf3 to actually be created, to be honest. if there’s any reason sf3 did poorly upon release in the west was because all the rehashes threw people off of sf’s dick and onto tekken’s. seriously, look at how many games those sf2 characters have been in. don’t forget the alpha series either.
i don’t mind the throw back to old-school sf fighting style but putting in ALL the sf2 characters and only adding like 4 new characters sucks. it should have been the other way around. announce ken, ryu, chun. then introduce a lot of new characters or other sf characters that haven’t been in many games. then, if time and budget allows, have the rest of the sf2 characters as hidden or download content.
i don’t know why they added so much detail to the models only to have most of it disappear with the lighting and shaders. go look for old sf4 screen shots and compare them to the new ones and you’ll see what i mean.
and oh my GOD chun li’s crab hand!? how did this get by? and they flaunt it in our face like we wouldn’t notice it in those close ups.
and one word: DIMPS. need i say more?
after all this crying and moaning you wouldn’t think there’s light at the end of the tunnel, but there is. when stuff started to get fixed just prior to it’s release and especially after seeing gouken’s animations, i have to admit i’m a believer now. i really think that the next installment will be miles above this one, visually… but i can’t help but cringe every time i see chun’s throw and walking animations. they are down right terrible. if you stick around and see her win pose it’s like, “wtf? why does that look better than 60% of her moves”?
End of Rant
