"Hey man, you're guessing wrong!" Makoto's Tips and Tricks Thread

Yes ok, so if they guard, EX hayate comes out, right?

v-ryu, I’d like to PM you about your stickied “Makoto Wake-up and Post-Hayate Mix-ups”/“Hey man, you’re guessing wrong! Makoto’s Tips and Tricks” threads but it says “Shoryuken - Error: This member limits who may view their full profile”.

Please PM me when you read this.

V-Ryu: Yep. I don’t know, getting a blocked EX Hayate is bad, but it’s not the most punishable attack in the game, plus it helps corner even on block. I landed this OS in a match today, so it at least has a little merit

^ that is brilliant. I have been pounding my head looking for a follow up to kara throw. My kara-back throw just isn’t there yet.

I did it today against a Guy. It’s so good if you think they’re going to jump, and it makes your reflexes look great. I really have to hit up training mode, see who it works on and who it whiffs on.

Note: I’m not sure if it works against Guy.

I think if you do perfect timing after a forward throw, f+MP will whiff. Otherwise you’ll hold forward for a frame or two and it hits. I did some testing and OS HP Fukiage works against everyone if they neutral jump. OS MP Fukiage works only if they attack on the way down and if some characters jump forward, like E. Honda and Fei Long.

Risky OS if they jump forward or backdash or jump back. Probably only really good in the corner. I think this and the c.LK xx EX Hayate OS LP Fukiage will be my good read OS, not my standard. I think I’ll just stick to f+MP or s.MP buffer, since I see Haitani do that successfully.

Well its weird… I played around with it and it seems that the timing is strange. The forward throw makes the sprite of the opponent bounce back, then forward. If you do a just frame f.:mp: afterwards, it will whiff. It has to be delayed until they bounce back. Dont’ know this is character specific though.

One question (with my girl so i can’t test)… how about doing :lp: fukiage after f.:mp: if they jump forward? Will this work? Damn i need to get back in the training room…

Yep, LP Fukiage at this distance wrecks every forward jump I’ve tried except for the weirdo ones like Chun-Li’s and Dhalsim’s.

Got it. So that’s one more option, and doesnt’ even require lightning fast reflexes. This is good stuff!

I havent’ played since saturday :(:(. I’ve been either away from my xbox or my wife is watching Netflix or i’ve playing around with Oni in training. But I will get in about 4-5 hours of matches in tonight (The wife’s got work!!! Hell yeah!!!), so I’m going to actively test how well this works and what kind of reflexes it will take to react to opponents random jumping. It’ll hurt my game (because i almost always go for a back throw for the UTK) but i’ll be alright.

could you frame trap an opponent while he/she is crouching to set up a u2 crossup? sorry for the dumb question.

NO question is dumb. Seriously. We figure some of the weirdest shit out by asking random questions and figuring it out what works.

But No I dont’ think so. I believe the hitbox of U2 must pass through them on wakeup to cross up. It would be nice if it did, though I feel like it would only work if the opponent had Makoto in the corner and thats a dangerous situation (blocked U2 in the corner… get thrown back into the corner, and now have no U2 to escape…). Besides that, if you’re talking about in a block string, they have plenty of time to block the U2… its not fast enough to frame trap them. You can’t combo it even on hit if they are on the ground.

Big hitbox characters (Gief for sure) can be hit by crossup U2 without a wakeup situation, might have to be crouching though and seemed very dependent on a particular corner spacing. I got hit by it last night playing Gief against a Makoto.

yes it’s possible. But there isn’t setup for them right now.
I’ll try to find some (hope other players too), but not right now (on holiday tomorrow for 2 weeks \o/)

NEED MOAR THIS^^^

Ahem… i mean great! i would like to see this. I really hope this is possible. That sounds really really awesome.

although i dont’ do block strings on gief lol.

Lol, while searching for meaty setuo after EX hayate -> LP fuki (no gauge for ex tsurugi) in corner, i notice that LP fuki -> empty jump -> jump HP hits in front, and jump mk crossup xDDD
Works on feilong and rufus. Seems working vs character on which tsurugi crossup works except sagat.

I discovered this a few days ago.

Last two posts I had it in there. I’m still trying to figure out the timing for j.HP and j.MK.

Omg good find then. I didnt see your post.
Great!

Tested the fake hp crossup on everyone and it only works on:

  • Fei
  • Guy
  • Seth
  • Gouken
  • Juri
  • Dictator
  • Cammy
  • Hakan
  • Guile
  • Adon
  • Rufus

Man who is not using fukiage. I use it… I mean i normally only use it on wakeup or after a carefully planned setup. But @ last night’s casuals, I decided to just throw it out anytime my opponent jumped. Seriously??? That thing is too damn good. I couldln’t believe it! it hit everything! not even Kara’d. there would be times where i was full screen against gief, he would do j.:hp: and I would just say fuck it. We were NOWHERE NEAR each other and he got smacked lol. To put this into perspective: He was so far away that I did j.:hp: afterwards and it whiffed. LMAO. I’m going to be doing this much more randomly. Less than half a screen away? mash Fuki. Watch opponent crumble. eat popcorn.

Oh yeah the reason i was posting: Does anyone know where to get actual photos of Makoto’s hitbox data? I know we have Super’s but does anyone know where I can find AE’s? If not, is there any way I can create it? It couldn’t take that long…

Will my opponent salt my popcorn? I like salty popcorn.

But srsly? It works that well? Shiiiiiiit. After I get my new stick for my 360 I’m gonna jump right on that.
