You must have misread
what i meant was ex hayate -> lp hayate in corner
What do you mean? He told you EX Hayate -> LP Hayate works on everyone but Ryu, Ken, Ibuki, Akuma, Blanka, Rufus, and Fuerte in the corner.
Where has this chart been and why haven’t I seen it before? This is incredibly useful!
not really just wait till ae and we get that rape combo lol
Spirit here posts a great find on post #650. also seems to work on fukiage follow ups.
You’ve probably seen it but the duke posted some great meaty set ups, alot following the lp hayate juggle

That video above is awesome. I’m still fairly new to the character, so that’s pretty cool stuff.
Thank you. I always thought it was just a random problem I had when I had trouble with Balrog, Rose, Sakura, and other Makotos.
I just deflected Ibuki’s kunai with an LP Fukiage O_o is that normal? I’ve never seen it happen before till just this moment.
@ Guilty
Perfectly normal. You can take a Kunai out with any attack as far as I know.
Oh, sorry xD I’ve just always done a Hayate when I see kunais coming, so this was a new experience. In fact, I meant to Hayate that time as well, but I got a Fukiage instead(my execution is awful sometimes). And then came the vortex -_-
Don’t apologize, I’m in awe of your awesome Makoto. I remember seeing you use her on a stream last year sometime. I don’t know if it was Evo or Season’s Beatings. Whichever it was, you done great. If anything, I could do with some advice from you lol.
As for Ibuki’s vortex… Well, it goes without saying that it’s a terrible thing indeed, at least from my perspective.
I’m pretty sure you’re mistaking Guilty for gllty.
Agreed with Cheesus lol Revelations will be the first major I’ve gone to. I’ve never been to Evo or Season’s Beatings. I’m still barely getting my game up to par and I’ve got a long way to go. I’m sorry for the confusion xD Found a way to counter that vortex btw. Big thank you to v-ryu!
Ahh… sorry for mistaking you for someone else :). I thought I recognised the name, but I obviously put 2+2 together and came up with 5! o_O
Anyhow… what did you learn about the Ibuki vortex that counters it? I’ve tried using the Mp Fukiage to take the Kunai out.
Just block it , what’s so hard about blocking ? Geez … I’ve sit in the corner for 40 seconds blocking like crazy against a dudley just so that I could learn patience and concentration , to see where each attack comes from and what he does , you cant reversal your way out of everything , sometimes you have to deal with it… it’s easy to block ibuki’s vortex - first block the kunai then block the other shit , that’s it , and when she finishes her bnb on block you counter … nothing more to it , or when you see her jumping for a kunai - pick U2 !
At the bar fights I go to, I fight a pretty good ibuki, so I’ll have to agree with Zakbg about blocking. Since Makoto’s defensive techniques are kind of sub-par, it’s best to learn to block all sorts of mix ups from characters who have a wide array of mix ups.
On an unrelated note, I’ve been having some trouble with Abel players. Typically just the clk x 3 > step kick rinse and repeat kind of crap. Also, Abel seems to like to FA against me, often at random times when I’m within mid-screen range of a HK tsurugi. Until AE and EX hayate breaking FA, what would be some other advantageous methods of dealing with FA spammers? Particularly in the Makoto vs Abel match up, seeing as dashing and/or FAing is not a good choice for Makoto here.
GET OUT YOUR GRAINS OF SALT
This isn’t as tough a match up as many people think, really. Here’s a couple of things to try
-When Abel is close, and on the offensive, block low once, and then attempt to throw out an EX Karakusa. If their timing is off at all you’ll grab them as he’s dashing foward from the step kick. Make sure you are prepared to tech any tick throw attempts. Many times they will go for the stepkick>st.HP>whatever, and EX Kara will grab any attack they try. I have yet to see an Abel do step kick>wheel kick or step kick into super on block or whatever. Expect a normal attack first, because that’s whats first in the muscle memory. they want you to stay blocking so they can set up the grab.
-Second thing to try here. this is only if their timing is really good, and you expect a frame perfect block string. Once they are blocked, they will most defintely try to command grab. So… After the first tick, hold up forward. after the step kick, when they go for the grab, you will actually be jumping, so quickly do MK Tsurugi>full combo.
-Really try to stay on the offensive when he has no meter. Your number 1 priority should be to knock him down to set up meaty MP Chops. He has nothing that can beat it aside from U1. If he has meter, be a little more cautious when he has meter, because EX command grab will get you. He may also try rolling. but that only relieves the pressure for a little. If he does it too often, grab it on reaction.
-When he has ultra, and you get a knockdown, you should be neutral jumping a lot, and setting up Safe Jumps to keep the pressure on. If he’s back dashing every time he wakes up, instead of doing j.MK/HK to set up the safe jump, do HK Tsurugi instead, and you’ll get another knock down. Expect, and try to bait a few wake up command grabs. If you are expecting Ultra 2, there’s a good chance you can make it whiff or even beat it using a low NJ EX Tsurugi.
-Its been awhile, but I believe you can LP Fukiage or c.MK any wheel kick he does on reaction and beat it clean…
-Don’t do Tsurugi’s unless they are IA Tsurugis. Even then, don’t abuse them. You can get grabbed/focused. Instead use her long range normals from midscreen. A lot of c. MP, a lot of t.MP, a lot of st. HK, and a lot of c.HPs. Sprinkle in st. MP/MKs for good measure. Option select your c.MPs and your st. MP/MKs with LP/MP Hayate to break focus.
-if he focuses, and doesn’t have ultra, you should focus, too. If you’re close enough, and feeling ballsy, you can dash up and karakusa before they release the focus. Or you can bait the release, backdash and EX Hayate to punish.
I think your main objective against Abel is to knock him down and force him to make a bad decision on wakup. But again, I’m rusty so there may be new stuff i dont’ know lol.
In AE, Makoto’s IAT’s can come out much lower to the ground. I can do them at the same height as in Super but can’t get them lower in AE. Is there a special input I should be doing instead? I’m just doing 9214K as fast as I can.
More generally~ is there a way to save your replays in AE á la BlazBlue?
i do 9147, but i play on pad, so who the fuck knows what’s really goin on
