I was just about to post this. So far ive been able to use MK and HK Tsurugi to cross up Balrog, Gief, Hawk, Cody, and Guile. I couldnt get it to work on Hakan for some reason. Ill test more of the cast later. I knew there had to be alot more to Makoto. I spent hours in training mode trying to find new shit so hopefully this isnt old news lol
It seems to work on the majority of the cast, I could not get it to work on Ibuki, though Im sure it might with some timing tweaks. So IA Tsurugi has the potential to cross up both standing and crouching opponents.
Would post in combo section but not really a combo and more of a “trick” than anything else.
As I’m sure most of you know EX Hayate in the corner you can do a f.lk reset OR you can do a f.FK (hold) and step through them before they get up (except some big characters as I haven’t tested on all of them yet, couldn’t get through Rufus consistently).
EX Karakusa > s.FP xx EX Hayate , f.FK (Hold) , Karakusa (I used lk version), s.FP xx EX Orochi = 880 Stun So 3 Stocks and can probably get around 900+ adding s.mp to the combo so in essence this is the lazy man combo. Requires opponent to actually tech the Hayate KD .
Same as above but you think they are going to neutral jump to punish your Karakusa,
After the f.FK (Hold) see jump , FP Fukiage, FP Fukiage, EX Tsurugi. . .that’s a bit over 900 Stun, same requirements as above
The f.lk reset in the corner is safer as you’re not putting yourself in the corner and have more mobility from reversals (SRK, Flashkick, SPD, etc)
However with the f.lk reset I have been able to IAT Tsurugi past their reversal (sometimes crossing up) making it whiff and I still get a punish and probably a stun.
I dont get how the Tsurugi became known as IA Tsurugi. Its 100% NOT instant.
I’ve been mucking around with S.MP as an anti-air then cancelling to hayate of different strengths. Anyone been messing around with similar options? I think it could be a semi weird or useful gimmick, or atleast get you free chip damage. HP and MP Hayate will cause you to switch sides cool for the fact that you build meter in the process and it’s like a mini focus since if you hold it down it’s free chip unless they reversal, i need to training room this more but seems cool i’ve been thinking about using HP Hayate in a Focus Attack Type Way, i’m unwilling to tank my ranked matches further though so has anybody else been trying this stuff?
because “soon as possible tsurugi” sounds absolutely retarded
nothing’s instant in this game, it’s just that TK doesn’t apply, so we don’t use that
what would YOU suggest we call it
Let’s make it more confusing by calling it kick SPD
Please, dont come at me w/ such a disparaging response as though I know nothing about the game.
Im pretty sure Cammy and Viper have instant air moves, bc the moment theyre airborne they can activate their air special. My response to your question…Tsurugi would be my suggestion, based on the fact that, thats what its ALREADY CALLED. Now if someone cant figure out that “as soon as possible” is really the only time they should be using it outside of Fukiage juggles or maybe gettin over fireballs, then idk what to tell you or them.
what does TK mean? Tiger knee? if so, then it’s retarded for anyone other than sagat. But still everybody knows what everybody’s talking about so why not?
Let’s just call it iTsurugi for instant Tsurugi. Topic closed.
Haha, that’s awesome! New phone wallpaper set
you my friend have a very good makoto!!!
I also learned that after a focus attack, when the character is falling you can go for a another FA (right before there knees touch the ground) and dash under them and go for a F+LK to continue mixup.
Anytime you’re close enough to get a s.mp on block, you can follow up with a kara EX Karakusa. This will beat any poke thrown out and you get a grab. The s.MP’s frame advantage allows you to do this. Note that you can get grabbed out of this, but no one is going to think about grabbing after a spaced s.mp. If anything, they will be cr.lk + lp throw OSing, which this set up beats.
In short, Kara EX Karakusa is gdlk.
Random tidbits you may or may not know regarding her f+FK feint ground crossup:
-
Ground crossup works on everyone after the following untechable knockdown moves: Back throw, FP/EX Oroshi.
-
Ground crossup also works on everyone after a corner EX Hayate even if they tech the knockdown.
-
However, you can ground crossup after a c.FP as well, but it only works on the following characters: Ryu, Ken, Dan, Sakura, and Chun-Li.
Just have a general question.
Do you guys find yourselves doing Karakusa -> s.HP -> Hayate Cancel -> s.MP -> MP Hayate or lp SCH?
lp SCH doesn’t leave you in a close enough distance for another karakusa.
Curious as to see what the general consensus on which is better.
Also, sorry if this was discussed earlier.
I am trying to find the post which has a list of character infos of rather the move HP->Hayate(hit)->Karakusa works on them or not.
Does anyone have it saved? Cant seems to find it anymore…
Doesn’t work on Seth, Abel, Sagat, Zangief, T hawk, Hakan, Makoto, Cody, Guy, Gouken, Juri, Chun, Dhalsim, Cammy, Blanka
karakusa -> s.hp -> hayate cancel -> s.lk -> hayate cancel -> karakusa = dope
