what I noted during the tournament:
character specific j.hp crossup setup against BALROG (Boxer): ex ruffian cross under, s.mk, c.lk, fj.hp
-works everywhere on the screen
-avoids every headbutt version, any dash punsh and ultra
-backdash gets hit
-any jump gets hit
-c.jp whiffs and you land behind him
-can dash under
-can simply duck to avoid the hit and punish your whiff jump accordingly
for the sake of it I tested it against all characters where ex ruffian crosses under. in generall it can’t be backdashed out. most characters can dash under. small characters don’t get hit at all. some can crouch to avoid the hit.
sagat: avoid jump against all uppercuts, knees and u1. trades with u2 tho (which leads to some weird teleport hit and crazy sagat combos btw, full u2 => full super)
seth: avoid jump against mp, hp and ex srk but trades with lp (not in cody’s favor due to followup options). seth can’t dash under it. gets beaten by super, u1 and u2 clean
gouken: fake crossup. avoids u1, u2 and ex tatsu. gets beaten by kongo obviously. can’t dash under (results in j.hp hitting as a crossup)
gouki: doesn’t get hit at all.
gen: doesn’t get hit at all. avoids all gekiros, ultras and supers but lk crane one.
vega: doesn’t get hit at all.
abel: avoids ex sky, ex cod
hakan: avoids super. gets beaten by u2 obviously enough. can’t dash under (same as gouken)
zangief: trades with late lariat and gets catched with tiger u2
t.hawk: avoids all tomahawks and u2.
another one that catched my eye that was done against rufus: Ultra 1, forward dash, s.lp, fj.hp / hk. He merely landed behind him, but I’m sure it’ll lead to something if done correctly / against specific characters but I can’t test it on my own. since the utlra animation takes up like 9 seconds… so can’t say anything about it. Anyone willingly to test it with a 2nd player and report back?
I’ve found an unblockable setup on Seth, if he quick rises after an EX CU in the corner, if he doesn’t, you still get the possibility to perform a safe jump afterwards. He is never re
Mind the timing by which I whiff the jab, it has to do with Seth’s height in the air.

The there is this unblockable setup that works on (between parenthesis are what the characters can and can’t do to escape it ; whiffing a normal is not a good way to escape the setup since you can punish that whiff) :
Ryu (can’t dash forward), Ken (can dash fwd), Ibuki (can’t dash fwd), Makoto (can dash fwd, can lp dp), Dudley (can’t dash fwd, maybe command Duck : forgot to try that), Akuma (no demon, no dash fwd), Gen (can dash fwd), Oni (can dash fwd), Evil Ryu (can dash fwd), Guile (no super, no dash fwd), Claw (can’t dash fwd, Somersaults bring him back near you, can ultra 2 to escape, can duck)
No one can be air reset by backdashing or jumping and normal anti air don’t work.
nice. i just love those things. the ex cu one can be escaped when you simply delay the quick rise can’t it? also, does it work if you do c.lk xx lp cu, ex cu?
Right, so, if they delay their tech, it’ll still hit meaty.
I’ve just tried doing cr lp cr lp cr lk EX CU and instead of whiffing a jab you have to just walk one step forward to reach the right distance before jumping (I’ll upload the video later). However, in this case, if they delay the tech (but really delay it a lot), the jump in will whiff but where you land is quite ambiguous and you will have time to meaty jab if you want.
afair it works on nearly everybode but small size characters like sakura, ibuki etc. I tested this over a year+ ago and can’t remember exactly. btw, mp cu, u2 works on a few aswell.
i almost never use it but i will start fishing for it more. just wanted to know which characters it works on. and theres probably some characters that it works on but only in corner etc.
it works on every character on which lp cu, ex cu works. I think it was corner unspecific tho.
It’s situational, but I used it trice yesterday alone. it’s worth knowing.
Also vs Rufus, he comboed into EX ruffian midscreen, then did st.fierce, cr.jab, forward jump MK and landed on his head… it kinda looked like a crossup but RickyO didn’t block it so maybe it was unblockable/super fake crossup?
EDIT - And the same setup later, he tried doing j.HK (probably crosses up from the front like the other one?), so I bet j.MK looks like a crossup but isn’t, and j.HK looks like a regular jumpin but crosses up. Both seem to make EX messiah whiff, lol.
Hi, I am new to posting but have been lurking for many months. This Cody forum and the advice I read daily has helped me a lot so thankyou everybody.
I never posted before because I don’t think I have anything to offer but now maybe I have found something, OS vs Vega:

Probably been done before I don’t know (searched youtube for a while) but I think this beats all of his wakeup after EX-Ruffian KD (I tried to emulate all of Vega’s wakeup options vs this recording, I wasn’t able to get a down+back charge with all the crossing over Cody does it’s ridiculous
) Please tell me if it’s bad or wrong to whiff normals to set up this OS, or other setups/safejumps for that matter, I see it done in some videos so I tried some things out, but of course I think timing errors can still come into play…).
I think it’s rather semi functional tho. it needs one meter and all you get is a OS you could do manually after every kd. something to keep in mind, but not a reason to combo into ex ruffian imo. still, nice find.
timing does come into play. if you do the ultra too fast, you will hit the back dashing characters airborn, and you know how that ends up. this was just changed from super -> ae so that every characters backdash is now considered airborn. i just use it as a buffer now. i will do qcb lk. if they backdash, i just need to delay for a bit, then do qcb ppp to get ultra.
