Hey hey hey Gameworks

you pretty much hit the nail on the head with that last post. In order for us to get to that level that we see in SoCal/Texas, we have to push each other to play more, not just in our scene. Once the dust settles, and the old school players who are down for the scene and the new players who are serious about the game start to train effectively, im down for traveling to some SoCal tourneys for majors ( idk who plays in Nor Cal?) and Canada for the most exposure possible.

I talked to Rob at Preppys last week, and he was not sure about coming back for BR. He’s pretty busy now, and i think he has taken a liking to Sf4. If he dcoes come back, Born to Duck/ Zigmover23 will be waiting

And as far as that guy that i have NEVER beaten in any game in the last 10+ years ( known as Paris ) I think the ending quote of Third Strike sums it up nicely:

" We await your return, Warrior:china: "

I have faith in our scene, but we will have an uphill battle nonetheless . Not just because of our late arrival to the game, but some tekken players within the scene do not particularly care for one another ( if you’re a part/ were a part of the scene recently, im sure you know) I can only hope that we will be able to play as a whole scene, as much as possible, and those “dedicated to the cause” will continue to strive to make our scene better - the way Jason Cole strives to make our sf4 scene what it is today

P.S.

  • Does anybody know if Dennis in Portland is going to be playing BR?

That’s another big thing. Nate/XTG is gonna have similar problems if he can’t properly mentor/guide people when KOF XII comes out. That has been the common denominator for all games here in Seattle since the beginning of time essentially. There has to be that teacher like influence otherwise the scene won’t be nearly as strong/hype as it could be.

MvC2-Rattana
Tekken Tag/4/5-Ric
Soul Calibur 2-Ric
CvS2/3S-King
ST-Julien Beasley
SFIV-Cole (lol forgot about the game I’m currently playing haha)

It also helps when the game itself is good, but when you have someone that’s able to teach and explain, things are much better. Now I’m not trying to be the downer in this thread, just explaining the truth. Someone has to step up, or you can forget about it.

Well, once Evo is over and BR is out on consoles I plan on having a dedicated setup at my place for scrumbling. This could serve as a kind of base (albeit small) for the scene until we find somewhere else thats free and bigger. Until it comes out on console, there’s also gameworks, which is a fairly centralized location for most of us, and will hopefully have enough player traffic to support an environment of friendliness and mentoring that would be required to sustain it in the long run.

In terms of actual, specific, mentoring, I could at the very beast give some slightly better than layman’s insight into the systems that run the game. There’s also DR, which could serve as an excellent training platform for players interested in the scene, since it is readily available on console and reflects, at least to some degree, the type of playstyles that would work in BR. We would, of course, have to explain the numerous differences that will happen once they change over, like adapting to the bound system, or changing/altered movesets and effects.

There’s work to be done, that’s for sure.

I’ll be down to bussing it up north for some Tekken. I’ll also host a few as well…although parking can be an issue here downtown. But people seemed to be able to find some last Friday.

I think it’s tight that it’s coming out on PSP as well…gonna hit that practive mode up on my work breaks.

I figured I’d be doing some mentoring after console release. Like reviewing vids and helping people develop their anti-char stuff through online play, as well as by distributing info on the characters and matchups to the Seattle Tekken community to help them get a jump start. Unfortunately, being out of state and all, I won’t be able to give everyone a place to play (can still help them develop their game, though).

I am down to travel, when BR hits consoles. I live in Kent, and I wouldn’t mind heading to play @ tepids or anybody else willing to host. I don’t think that there will be space @ preppys, but who knows? Maybe one setup, down in the dungeon?

Murakumo : Maybe we can post up videos from our casuals/ tourneys on a youtube account, or something and get you r feed back as well as links to other vids you know of for clarity?

Also, will the Gameworks machine ( or any BR machine for that matter) have an outlet port for controllers, like DR machines?

And: I would really like it if we had Dr at this years NWM. If anyone else feels this way, could you please post in the NWM thread. There seems to be a rough draft on how the tourney is going to run, and Dr isn’t included yet. If I recall right, when we were voting for the games that will be at nwm, Dr had around 20+ votes right?

That is something I could and probably will do. It’ll help me reinforce what I know and learn new things, as well.

BR machines do not come with a controller port, but with a little technical know-how I think you can put one in yourself (I think they did this somewhere in NY?)

I wouldn’t mind a controller port just to be sure I’ll have a good working stick (and oh how I love using Korean sticks, now). Stateside I can never completely trust that the controls won’t be ass and go unfixed. =x

thatd be tight if it was a playstation controller port or a usb thing now cuz the 360 controller is atrocious.

i used to love tekken 5.0 cuz i hate being on a cabinet and the other niggaz bogarding 3/4’s of it all up in my space so i gotta stand on the side of the cabinet damn near and look at the game sideways. you guys are fuckin jerks, especially when niggaz is fat. be courteous come on. anyways i loved having a controller port so i could plug in and stand back at max range and not have to wallow in the stench of defeat. plus i used a ps1 controller so i didnt have that analog bullshit in the way.

cabinets with controller ports are genuis but i understand when its a multiple platform game

Well, @ $3.00 a play, i certainly hope that they will fix the buttons! The problem with Tekken is that is tends to draw the “masher” type of person who doesn’t know how to play the game at all. They pick Eddy or king, and the closer they get to the wall on a stage, the harder they try to rip the joystick off the machine, and pound the buttons into oblivion. Thats why its every SRK’ers and TZ’ers duty to stay on the machine and play, to keep the mashers away from the game. You will be doing us All a favor. Nobody wants to drive from up North/ down South to have to wait until someone can get to the machine and fix the buttons/stick …

 **America still needs your help!**

Hey fellas, we seriously need to build some hype!

PLEASE POST IN THE NWM THREAD SO WE CAN HAVE DR UP AND RUNNING FOR NWM!!

Otherwise we won’t be having a tournament this year.

And personally im not tryin to see smash or VF beat our spot out!
EBM is looking to play and retain his title this year.

Thanks

HypeMaster Flash?

I should just make a shirt that they can read while I’m on the machine…

“If you break the stick or buttons, I’ll break you like I just broke your character…
.
…now go break a $5 so I can break your heart in another match.”

.
.
Maybe it’s just that my Lee is broken. =/

lee vs law curtis, get ready for the ugliest matches ever

That T shirt would totally work if you have a large picture of Bolo Yeung’s face on the back.

Lee vs. Law it is… I hope to be using Moku by then, though =)

Wavedash and Backdash cancel is getting better… better movement is opening up a lot of new stuff and way more whiff punishing with everyone. Feel like I’m really moving forward with the game, now.

a couple of quick questions:

  • BDC in BR is the same as in Dr correct?

  • Do we have a specific date for when we get BR? I have most of the weekends in June off, and one friday. Im literaly trying to be there opening day, as it opens in the morning

  • why doesnt anybody do bound combos with Eddy from bound to sidestep 3+4. 3+4. 3+4 ? Has this changed to a new moveset/ is not max dmg/ doesn’t connect? What about bound to his semi-infinite high/low mix up? ( db 3, 4 , 3, 4 etc…) im not so much looking for max dmg with some setups as Im looking for controlling space, and wall carry instead

t6 on the main page now what have you niggaz started? i need to practice tekken on stick since i only used to play on pad…otherwise ill be stuck with feng or steve and no bryan

I’m still trying to figure out the juggles with Eddy. The thing is the few I’m using so far miss a lot on smalls.

The thing is this.
Finishing a juggle with [RLX]2,4~b, [Handstand] d+3_d+4 will have them right next to you for oki if they tried to move, or free grounded damage on the last hit if they moved. You can hit f in handstand to go forward sacrificing the last hit but guaranteeing oki… if they move at all you get something like [RLX]2, b+3,3, [RLX]2,4~b~F, B!, [RLX]2,4~b, [Handstand] d+3_d+4 back to the same stuff. Oki from his main combo enders is buff. For carry you can f+1,2 from handstand to roll out to jabs post bind.

Basically, everyone’s using Christie/Eddy’s BnB stuff because it is good damage and buff oki a lot of the time. I’ve just gotta figure out how to time it or what to replace moves with for consistency vs. smalls.

SO…

the word on the street ( Manny) is that our BR machine WILL have controller ports!?

He says there are only two types of machines: the large two screen back to back unit that costs $$$$, without the ports, and the smaller single screen unit that is cheaper, and has the ports. sounds good to me!

Murakumo: I have seen enough to spark the desire to play Julia in BR. For whatever reason people claimed that she was somehow nerfed because of new elbow properties, i saw more than enough to convince me otherwise. Seen any crazy Julias lately ? LOL

thats gross steve stick to capo’s

did manny say if the ports are gonna be usb? if i could use my old playstation 1 controller with no analog i would really enjoy this game…for like 2 weeks

lol, Julia is good, and so are like 30+ other characters in this game! I think that in order to play successfully in this game, if you use more characters for a smaller scene you can get a rough idea of certain character traits and set ups, for when you go to larger tourney outside of your own locale.

Im not sure what type of ports the machine will have, but hopefully not too much different than the one found on the old DR cabinets.

Jacob: so what do you make of this?:
