Tried it and failed lol Hopefully this sparks ideas or something but most of the cred goes to Tomo though.

Reposting here, since I was dumb to post this into the combo thread:

Newbie question since Iā€™ve been victim of this so much:

When RR comes in via snapback or just because my character dies, most people rush him down hard, and when you can escape, they chill out and run the hell away. I find that when people are on the opposite side of the screen, itā€™s hard for me to do anything useful. Especially if they have a projectile I canā€™t crouch under. Since I have him anchor, itā€™s even more harder because time is running out. What do you guys suggest in this case? If I try laying down a trap, I get caught in a beam super, or in the case of dante / vergil, eat a stinger from 75% of the screen away.

Stop playing RR as an anchor is the only answer~. RR sucks without a life lead, when he has it heā€™s great at anchoring.

I recently picked up team Kusoru. Gonna see just how well anchor RR can keep up with people and try to come back on them.

Well, true. That can be said about anybody. When he gets snapped in I have some answers since I like to play him better with my other characters as assists. I just always eat shit because most people have some ambiguous incoming mixup Iā€™ve never seen before. Also, I feel like a single or double spit fire doesnā€™t last long enough for a burrow. The only thing I can think of doing is just put grenades on the screen until Iā€™m close.

it only works from absolute full screen and I believe it has to be a TK single shot. It really is not very good at all, but a once a match type deal it can be effective. Truth is RR is actually weak at the fullscreen game, you wanā€™t to get yourself in a little to his comfortable halfish screen zone.

EDIT: And grenades are a pretty great way of establishing that zone.

Or you could use assists and just circumvent that entirely

No, most powerful anchors are great anchors BECAUSE they work well on their own. Thatā€™s why theyā€™re great anchors. They can carry the entire team in case they get destroyed. (WESKERRRR, anyone in denial of this is in denial)

RR however canā€™t carry shit (unless he is against a single surviving enemy with less life than him at the current time) even though heā€™s got them broad shoulders, lovable face, rowdy attitudeā€¦a nice ass

You get the point

After Evo Iā€™ll have to experiment with Raccoon either 2nd or on point. I donā€™t have any place for him right now, and my Hawkeye / Arthur / Anyone that might be a better anchor is pretty ass right now. My Cap is mostly solid on anchor, but I like him on point better than anywhere else. RR + Shield Slash works, but not as well as say, Unibeam or Triple arrows.

Unless you guys can suggest a character, Iā€™m running a Cap / Thor / RR team right now, with a ā€œlosers teamā€ of Joe / RR / Cap. The ones I can use are :

Very Comfortable : Deadpool, Joe, Cap, Thor, RR
Sort of Comfortable but not really : Ironman, Arthur, Hawkeye, Jill
I know how to do combos, but not comfortable at all : Spencer, Task, Nova, Frank, PW, Chris, Spidey, Sent, Strider, Ironfist
(Yes, I know, no ā€œtop tiersā€. They donā€™t like me.)

With less than a week before Evo, Iā€™m going to have to run with what I got, since I donā€™t think I have much time to iron out these other characters. Maybe I should change my first team to Thor / RR / Cap, even though my Thor doesnā€™t really use assists. At least this gives RR some sort of decent projectile for getting in. People forget about the second hit of shield slash, usually. What do you guys think? Is this a good idea?

Thor + RR log assist is amazing. Really, really amazing. Abuse it.

.Guy., Im trying to learn Rocket Raccoon, but Im sucking so bad. I can move somewhat decent, but I canā€™t fight with him. Help

Assmaster/Captain Fraudmerica/RocketRaccoon is what Im trying to play.

You are trying to play Rocket with no assists at all then? To me, that team would make much more sense as Cap/RR/Task. But people jumping backwards are still going to ruin your life.

Rocket Raccoon neutral has been discussed a lot haha, if you are having problems you can look through the threads here.

Fight me nigga what the helllll

But uh yeah, if you want to play RR I suggest putting him second, though Iā€™ve been using team Kusoru a bit more lately so. If necessary just to get used to him keep doing that until you feel comfortable trying to use him otherwise. Task with log assist is pretty damn dumb.

Why not do Cap/RR/Task? The last two is what I do, and I usually buy time to put out a spring trap for an easy tag/DHC to Task so he can do some shit before tagging him back out to make sure RR doesnā€™t get left for dead as the anchor.

Just imagine safe DHCs with Cap.

Made it out of my pools in Losers at Evo.

Started out with Thor / RR / Cap. Lost my first two games vs. a zero player, and sent to losers.

In losers, went with Joe / RR / Cap - 6-0 until I got out of pools. In quarter finals, won 2 games, then lost to Task / Ghost Rider / Dark Phoenix. I took 2 games, but I didnā€™t sit on the trap like I was supposed to. Sorry guys :(. However people got a taste of what RR can do. Too bad I didnā€™t have my matches recorded. I would have liked to see what I could have done differently. I will do better next time!

Thanks for repping the Raccoon for us dude! Maybe some new tech will be revealed by next year as well.

Wow nice, great to see RR being repped at major tournaments. Dark Phoenix always plays on your mind, even when you think you have the perfect way to negate her feather hell.

Thanks guys :). I took out one team with Phoenix on it. Itā€™s just this one was lamer and hurt my team a bit before DP came out.

When I said I took 2 games in quarter finals, I meant that I took out 2 people, and this was my 3rd opponent in quarter. I would have made it much farther, if I stuck to the plan :(. I should have dropped that trap right when I killed her, and burrowed or something. I had about 22 game seconds, 2 characters, and a ton of meter.

There was another person in my pools that used RR, but used him anchor. I forget what team he used, but it had ammy on point. People are still not respecting the log trap! I made a lot of Cap comebacks too though. 8-0 straight was pretty hard.

Been playing with Raccoon alittle and came up with some incoming air throw setups.

  1. SJ S Rocket Skates DF delay Grab
This usually happens when someone pushblocks your S. If you DF Skates towards your opponent you should be able to stay in his face even after pushblock giving you a guaranteed air throw.

  2. j.L delay Grab
This is similar to MarlinPieā€™s Doom Air Throw Setup. If the opponent doesnā€™t pushblock Raccoon (which I doubt) you can easily just grab them.

Thatā€™s good stuff, but indeed not things unknown (Well the second most donā€™t do, but that setup is more universal iirc). Donā€™t stop going at it though.

Iā€™ve been playing with Net Trap + Slant Shot. Been able to get a Fast Float Ss Loop and Two Reps of Romket Skates off of a combo I came up with. Trying to optimize it before I post.

I usually set down either a mad hopper, or a net trap where their body will land. If theyā€™re an air dasher / flyer, they usually would do that and Iā€™d do an ambiguous log trap. If they canā€™t fly or double jump Iā€™d H burrow and try to mix them up. Itā€™s usually a 70% success that they get hit by something.
