And that’s exactly why I really prefer 2 assists for rocket, one to get in and one to stay in. Without both I find it really hard to ever open my opponent up unless they blatantly make a mistake.
Yup! Two assists DEFINITELY make life as a Raccoon easier! Hawkeye tends to get me in and Captain’s shield slash seems to do alright keeping him in, still working with it though. Maybe one day I’ll actually hit his assist on beat consistently.
I’m a fairly new Rocket Racoon player (Thor, RR, Nova is my team) and I’ve been using him pretty effectively as my second character. The problem I have with him is on entry. Once Thor dies I seem to have trouble getting Racoon an opportunity to get away from pressure and set up his offense.
So my question is, does he have any tools to get out of trouble? Is there a solid attack on entry that Raccoon can pull off to get the offense off of him and let him teleport or rocket skate out?
I have tried Rocket skating up and away on entry but that’s not always effective.
As you Racoon players know, once a good players hits him, he’s dead.

Well he has air mobility, so he has better options than most… but pretty much every character except Sentinel and Morrigan are essentially screwed on incoming. Those mixups are brutal. Best you can do is pick a direction, rocket skate and hope they don’t guess right, or just block, or if it’s Viper/Firebrand, not.

you say that because you’re not doing Net trap >> raw tag Frank on hit >> killing characters ;).
While shrapnel trap is really good, I think Net trap may be better for really scaring people into pushing buttons. Once they get captured by it once, they will think twice before crossing it again. Really frustrating for characters without zoning tools.
I like Boulder Trap cause if they trigger it you get a free combo too bad it eats your groundbounce XD net trap really is a mind play tool cause they’ll think twice and block and it’s like -boop- Overhead. Shrapnel is good cause I think they can be airborne and still get hit, juggles them, and is like a hit of super armor. All of the traps are good and have their uses.

I’d also take boulder or log over shrapnel, maybe not if I didn’t have assists.
cH. is such as good anti-air I forget it exists lol Can’t deny but I love the log trap mostly for the lulz factor and the random moment it hits.
Net trap:
Hits once, is slow as FUCK, and does nothing for getting them off you/pressuring them. If they see it they can just move right over it and snatch you up while you recover for a year, or even during the insane startup. Assists covering you excluded.
Shrapnel trap:
Hits a lot and traps them in blockstun, isn’t slow as fuck, acts similar to Sub-Zero’s freeze backwards trap in where you move as you place it, and is great for trapping (HA) and pressuring. The startup and recovery aren’t boulder-trap-like, but they’re definitely better than net trap’s.
Shrapnel just provides more in one package. Sure net trap gives you an easy ass confirm, but so does Shrapnel, while Shrapnel can actually pin them, EAT A HIT (insane), and hits in a large area for birthdays. Net trap won’t stop assists.
Not to mention Shrapnel’s usable in combos outside of setting up combos for you (Spencer assist excluded), even has a small loop with it. I fucking love f.H shrapnel trap pressure. Call an assist, head in and mix them up.
Yeah, I’m DHCing from RR to Frank and getting level 5 with less risk, and killing characters.
I’ll keep that in mind when i do a blockstring lol
Also we need an infinite for the Raccoon jk jk lol Seems like everyone and their mom is now looking for infinites with the characters.
With drones, shrapnel pressure is pretty godlike, turns any wild ripper into a guaranteed unblockable.

I just came here to ask the same lol. The infinite would be kinda tedious though because of RR’s mediocre damage output. You’d have to go on for a little while.
