He's in the trees! And he's flarking mad! - The Rocket Raccoon Thread

I was wondering the same thing, about wanker being allowed. Although I guess it’s allowed, seeing as though everything Morrigan says and does is allowed. I can feel the salt already though. Yeah, that just happened. A raccoon just killed you with a rocket, got in your face with a glowing knife thing, and called you a wanker. This is like Deadpool x1000. Hype. Edit - And at above, remember, Nemesis has the IDGAF hyper. I know he still takes damage, but the pros outweigh the cons if done at close enough range.

I think you input the direction you want it to bounce. Unsure as well.

Is ‘wanker’ even considered as profanity in England? I get the feeling what we (Americans) think they’re cursing each other in national TV (I watch too much Hell’s Kitchen I think) but to the Brits, it’s perfectly fine.

if double shot goes through a beam it will be great…but its kinda slow. but the log looks really good will probably be the assist of choice

I can imagine Rocket Racoon is going to be pretty much like Cable. In that most of the times he’d start the round, and seems expendable. Unless you were living pre-2004, nobody wanted to be caught in a 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 situation with Cable. He was meant do die but cause as much havoc as possble before he did. I think RR health will become somewhat of a liability. I also wonder about his comboability. There is nothing in his moveset that spells relaunch potential. Anyway, I think he’ll make a fine point character, but I doubt he’d do good at any other place. I also don’t think his assist will be that strong.

Against the likes of Ghost rider with a good beam assist, I’d imagine our furry friend may struggle. It’s clear that the little guy is going to have bad health, but I wonder about his damage output. Hope this doesn’t become a liability

YESSSSSSS. DAT COSMIC LOVE.

Hoping for a Star Fox alt by the way.

I don’t think it’s a profanity. I’m American too, but I think it’s more or less questionable because of the reference than the actual profanity. If anything, it’s more of an insult, I think. Kinda like if you call someone a jerk, it’s not a profanity; it’s still not nice, though. Am I making any sense? Or I’m too tired and should just call it a night.

The Spring Trap is an odd one. From what I have been able to tell you can control the way the spring directs and subsequently where your opponent goes when you hit with it. Straight up, away from you, or behind you.

I’m assuming that it’s much like Chris’ level 3 where holding :l:, :m:, or :h: will affect which direction it goes. Either that or like Taskmaster’s arrows having the three button combinations :l:+:m:, :m:+:h:, and :l:+:h:. That’s besides the point though. Regardless of how you can control the spring for sure from what I’ve observed.

It also appears to OTG so I guess it can be used as kind of a strategic positioning hyper after you finish a combo. Seems like straight up is mainly for use as a combo extender. Who knows. Still just speculation.

We need Maximillian’s help with this one. More importantly I need to get my hands on this character.

I’m getting that feeling too. Can a Brit/Australian clarify?

As for the spring, I think it’s like Task’s Arrows in that different button combinations throw it different distances, but how it hits and what distances those are is what’s unclear to me.

And is Apocalypse Now (forgot the name and I’m on an iPhone and don’t want to check the front page. The team sure likes its 60-70’s cult classics references) a full screen unblockable on the ground?

Bear trap might be of use in this manner, although at that point it does seem better to combo into log trap then hyper.

To actually contribute something though, I think he looks pretty good. Damage output looks about average (cbb to find the vid at this hour, but a basic ABCS CS Bear trap, Log Trap, Rock n Roll combo did about 50% on Frank West, who should be a high health character, from what I’d imagine. I’ve never played the games though, so i don’t know. I think where he shines is his ability to use his burrow as a makeshift teleport, and combined with assists, create a powerful left/right 50/50. I think this, and traps are what will make him good. OP? No. Great? Yes. Fun as it gets? Aww yeah.

A few of RR’s normals:

s.:h:: Laser shooting downward at an angle; sets off oil bomb. Likely deals chip damage.
cr.:h:: Anti-air laser shot. Deals chip damage as seen in the Frank West gameplay vid when Frank jumps in.

Both of these normals were covered in Seth’s demo; he definitely referred to these as being his ground H normals. This would explain why RR’s ground chains only go LMS instead of the full LMHS.

LMS just like Dorm. Anyway I’m cool with that. Seems like his more advance bnbs will probably rely more on assist, spacing, and setups like most of Dorm’s more advanced combos. I don’t see RR as a great combo character in game, but I can imagine he’ll have some sick combo videos.

Penalty, Not anymore fam.

Dormammu can now go a full LMHS.

One special thing about Rocket Stakes is this.

Unlike most 8-way dash characters , Rocket Stakes doesn’t really seem to lose it’s speed when going diagonal at all. Which is a big deal when every 8-way dash is slower in Ultimate.

Doom’s 8 way dash looks faster in Ultimate actually. I was looking at videos and his down back air dash doesn’t look any slower at all plus he can finally attack during down back air dash which completely makes up for not being able to block during it.

The real question is the recovery of rocket skates. Since it’s an actual move, I wonder will they allow him to attack out of it. I’m sure he could at a certain height, but at that point wouldn’t it become very seeable?

I’m pretty sure that Rocky has to wait for his dash to recovery before he can attack, but he can block after he recovers.

Canhe cancel out of skates into another move at any time?

He can’t cancel into anything but Rocket Skates, but he makes up for it by the fact it’s so ridiculously fast.
