  1. Is he still unable to cancel his dashes?
  2. Is Shinkuu Tatsumaki useless?
  3. What does Hadoken beat/lose to? Is it very punishable?
  4. Is his standing overhead still unable to be comboed into or out of?
  1. I don’t think ryu has an air dash. Basically his light punch hurricane kick crossup is a good way to get in.
  2. Not so sure but there is a combo with it usage in the mission mode
  3. Not so sure wats projectile beats what but hadoken hits hard. Does good enough chip and has lots of hits stun. Not so sure about the recovery rate, but seem reasonable.
  4. I believe the only way to combo off overhead is thru assist (again only play for 3 hours)

Overall thought: It seem high tier mvc2 character like magneto and storm can die very quickly to 1 ryu combo lol. Just get that 1 combo in from a cheap air cross-up and the rest is history. Ryu has descent health and can last long in the right hands. Ryu rush down is faster than most people think. With assist coming out slower and easier to kill, its more easier to get in with a character like ryu. Ryu super hakoden is better than photon canon is my opninon because you can cancel it into another super. Hurricane kick/Tatsu seem safe on block.

Ground dash is fast. Not full screen but magneto mvc2 fast.

1.he has no air dashes.
2.its stronger than the the shinku hadoken but only by 5k witch is basically worthless
3.havent tested it completly but it seams to be one of the beter projectiles. one haduken goes through 2 of arthurs dfA’s
4.its basically usless without chun’s assist, its the only one long enough for you to be able to attack after. and chuns assist adds SO MUCH scaling it isnt that great

oo in that case he has a great wave dash. use it twice and u go almost full screen but its still not good enough to reach most of the cast after a donkey kick

Now that’s something! What is the result of a Ryu spamming Hadokens vs. an Iron Man spamming Unibeams? Same question vs. Trigger Happy, Psionic Blaster, and any other projectiles you might be gracious enough to test.

i found out how to cancel it as early as possible you press dash then down then attack. it comes out as fast as possible

From what I’ve read, all the previous playable builds have had him unable to cancel his dash (as in instantly cancel it at the start of the dash as opposed to later/at the end), but I haven’t heard anything definitive regarding the retail version, but I’m not really expecting that to get changed at this point.

I really hope he can dash cancel now. If his wavedash can take him fullscreen in two dashes and he can cancel that dash, that’d be a great tool for getting inside with the help of a full-screen beam assist. which would fit with MAH THOR.

Anyone one else notice you can donkey kick someone OUT of a corner. Combine that with an OTG assist (Which also goes with MAH THOR), and there is potential for a long combo there. If only his overhead were cancelable… UGH that’s such bullshit Capcom, and you know it! Hahaha

I’m not sure if this has already been said, but I remember someone talking about THC possibilities with Ryu… his Team Hyper with SRK assist is Hyper tatsu it seems.

That’s horrible news, but it’s not like THCs matter anyway.

Wouldn’t SHINKU TATSUMAKI SEMPUKYAKU!!!… be able to hold the opponent in place? If so, that makes chemistry on THC. Good for shenanigans, but that’s about it.

Anyone else think Ryu seems to actually do pretty impressive damage in vids of the most recent build? I was just sort of passively staring at a vid earlier, and he did a very basic combo into shinkuu on Trish (not the highest health, I know, but still), and it took off about 70% of her health (no XFC). I was impressed.

To those that have played the game…and I apologize for asking this, but have you found anything that would make Ryu stand out from Gouki?

True, I just remember hearing a little while back some people discussing the possibilities of using Ryu with SRK assist and ( back then presumed ) THC shinnku for punishes.

In theory, but a lot of other THC hypers push people forward and therefore out of hyper tatsu’s range.

The official strategy guide was previewed today and Ryu’s pages were shown. His L. Air Tatsu is a fake cross up where Ryu can jump behind his opponent, but the L. Air Tatsu hits in front.
