He's down-right Fierce!: Ryu Thread Reloaded

I use the L version so I can have 2 on the screen. I mix it up if they are jumping between them.

Do you folks know which assists, if any, can make Shoryuken H safe on block when called immediately beforehand?

most boring character in the entire game

u still trash tho

Zero RYUENJIN

Shield slash maybe.

ChrisG showing the world the power of Ryu. Awesome stuff. I loved his use of XF canceled overhead.

LOL Don´t feed the troll son !!

did Ryu change much from mvc2? jw haven’t gotten the game yet.

Just in case noone knows, at the (or near the) very end of OTG shinku hadouken super, it pops the opponent up so you can continue other OTG hypers. For example, s, air m, m, h, s, OTG shinku hadouken, wait, DHC Final Justice.

I’ve been having trouble approaching the enemy with Ryu. I really have no idea how to do it other than jump/S.jump and trying to start a combo with C or S. I normally run with Wolverine (berserker slash) and Doom (Plasma beam) as my team and I’ve tried using their assists to help get me in but it still doesn’t work out for me. Any suggestions?

ryu really doesn’t have much mobility. besides being careful with jumps, try wave dashing; he covers the screen very quickly with his wave dash.

I’ve tried experimenting with using tatsumaki in the air as a type of ghetto air-dash, but since he can’t block after using it, it’s no good.

One fun gimmick I found in the lab was that in the corner, you can combo into Snapback after a grounded Shinku Hadoken.

Don’t think it’s particularly practical, but that does exist.

You just have to move in slowly. Zone them with your fireballs and beam assist, and keep following them towards the corner. Eventually they can’t move any farther and you’ll start getting closer.

Learning to wave dash or plink dash will also be very useful.

Just made a combo vid with my main team (Ryu/Mag/Sent)

I’m aiming to learn the Ryu Joudan kick from midscreen.
I assume when people wavedash that they use:l:&:h: to dash, and :m: to attack after dashes, Is that correct?

I didn’t see it posted here in this thread, so beware jumping L tatsu when playing against Thor. He can fairly easily air command throw you out of the L tatsu if you do it early out of a super jump.

in an attempting to bring back the dead i’ve come with something new sorta? may be? if you hit someone with a J. L in the middle of their head non cross up you can cancel it into J. H and Ryu will end up on the other side of the character without the H connecting so I was thinking you could suprise them by switching sides really quick without Tatsu. also, you could cancel the H into tatsu to actually hit them when you do switch sides. I don’t know if Ryu can pull it off on his own because of advancing guard bit with lockdown assists it might become more useful may be just throw it out there. Ill try to get a video of it soon.

Hi guys!! It’s the first time I post in a Ryu thread but I feel very very interested in this heavy damaging and easy-to-combo character since I’ve seen a bunch a top Ryu players going quite far in many American tournaments. Regardless of the victories and losses rate, I am enjoying playing with Haggar and Hulk, two “mammoth” bruisers of the cast. I am thinking of using Hulk on point, and then, I dunno if who I should put at the second spot and who as an anchor. What would be Ryu’s best assist with this type of team? Tatsumaki type? Thanks in advance!!

Ryu looks to be in for quite a shake-up in UMvC3; his Shinku Hadoken has changed, as most people spotted, but so has his Shinku Tatsumaki. The trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVVT8XadsHk) shows him doing it at the 2:19 mark. I’m not sure if it’s just the visuals that are being changed (to something utterly ridiculous), but it seems like a bit of a spectacle. Maybe it operates like a throw now?
