Most major tournaments running SSF4 now do pools, where top 2 of each pool will come out to play in the final bracket

for sure!!! i didn’t get to play at all on tourney day…except for 2 matches against FADI (GUY) where i went 50/50…probably my best ever record against him!

Pools are still double elimination though. It just means that they use a group of people and eliminate the group down to 2 players, with one player not losing at all, putting that person in winners, and the 2nd player coming out losing once. At Season’s Beatings, there were 16 pools. Since 2 people come out of each pool, there would be 16 winners and 16 losers coming out, and then making the final top 32 bracket.
yea, you’re talking about majors, which hundreds/thousands of players…so pools are a necessity. You don’t need to do pools for say…a 32 man bracket.
