Chowwun AKA Kross Mods AKA Wun Yan.
I think it costs $95 to dual mod a Xbox stick, he’ll be appearing at a Microplay tourney May 15th in New Market and he will be offering discounted dual mod prices($10 off?).
I agree with the idea. I try often to step off once I’ve lost two matches (4 to 6 rounds), although yesterday i put in a few more . But I agree, i know the feel of close competition may be overwhelming enough to want to keep playing that person but we need to keep a fair and even flow going, i think Best out of 3 is Sufficient cause not only does it keep a good rotation among the peopl in wait but its good practice for developing the “Tournament” mindset where u only get two chance, two matches, and u’ll need to make them count. And don’t worry about waiting, 3 matches goes by pretty quick lol. So say there are 5 people in wait for that particular game, then u’d only have to wait a maximum of 15 matches, but on average say 12 . Whereas you’d may have to wait more (example; 20 to 25) if someone plays more than 3 matches .
Good Idea Steve , In the back room , it would be nice to get 6 stations. I think there are enough tables for that. 3 SSFIV, 3 MVC3, and in the front, 3 MK9’s . Guess these are the 3 most popular games for Wednesdays at HW. According to my calculations, lol, there will more than often, almost always be (lolol @ redundancy), enough people playing MVC to have 3 stations. And i’m guessing there will be enough to have two SSFIV, unless more ppl show up to play. And since MK9 is still knew, there will definitely be 3 stations. So if the numbers for one game drops, u can have another favored game other than those 3 going, like 3S or AH3.
As for helping out. I don’t have a PS3 or an Xbox and I don’t have any spare monitors. BUT. I do have a 19" Magnasonic tv that I used to play my SSFIV on. Its kinda going haywire , it flips channels by itself. I got it to stay in video by jamming the video button lolol. I can donate it to casuals, if you guys want i and if u can fix it even better. Who knows, maybe when I bring it over, the problem will stop lmao. Its a tube/tubed Tv btw. So if u guys want I can bring it with me next time, just let me know. And maybe if one of our regulars is capable of fixing it, they can help out that way too , lol .
If we’re going by CRT, I have one in the basement, it’s a early cheap 2000 model lol!
But yeah as me and Ben were discussing toady as well, the reason why SSFIV may be much popular once it hits later in the night is probably because everyone is tired of MvC3 from playing since 2 - 4pm that they want to swap to something different. I think if there isn’t a total of 8 people waiting to play MK9, there should only be 2(4 per station for rotation is pretty fair) but that’s from my point of view. If you want Mortal Kombat 9 getting mad hype going around, round up 4 player tag, that was totally off the walls fun when we had it going on the first time we loading it up 2 casuals ago.
I am definitely thinking that when the league starts up, it will automatically organize itself much better than casuals because I’m sure there are plenty of people wanting to raise their ranks.
Anyone know of any good photoshop tutorials to help create my own stick art on photoshop? Also is there any gaming stores in the toronto area that would have coloured joystick buttons and balltops, or would i have to order my stuff on lizardlick?
you talking about the set-up we had for the Tsunami Tourney? that could work…although it’s a little messy. Main reason for positioning is the outlets in the back room…meaning there are only 4 and it’s in the back corner. This coming wed we’ll probably have 3 stations out front and the other 5 in the back…probably 2 along one wall and 3 along the other…but i’m welcome to ideas
Sounds good Jon. Maybe we could even get 6 stations in the back if possible. Thinking, u guys might need some power bars, and maybe an extra monitor and extra console. Hmmm … thinking …
hahah just fyi, the new combo videos coming out for MK proves that it’s really no better than mvc3. in fact you don’t even get x-factor to mount a comeback.
lol I’m just wondering if it’s worth using meters for Enhanced Special moves and breakers at most of our level we’re playing at…? Yes I understand that breakers can prevent 45% and up damage combos but most of the Enhanced Specials don’t seem that big of a difference(unless they have invincibility properties?).
And what the hell does stance change do? Reset combos?
I really should read into the MK system.
Well, for the changing stances there is open stance and closed stance. Depending on what your and your opponents stances are depends on if your combos will work. youll have to play around with it in training mode because every character is different. So bassically some combos might not work if you and your opponent are in different stances.
at low level play i’d suggest not using breakers at all right now, since most players learning the system will only have short combos that deal maybe 10%-20%. At a higher level they are really important since there are longer combos, that will deal more damage…also you’ll be able to see if a certain combo will kill you so you’ll have to bust it out. Also it really mucks with your opponents flow, and knocks them away so you can pursue him and begin your own rush down or mix-ups.
EX moves are all different…some have extra invincibility, most deal extra damage…some have other properties…for example milenna’s EX roll dosen’t seem to count as a bounce move…so if you ex roll and then combo you can get another regular roll in there or a ground bounce
