To be fair, it’s easier to win with Abel than Guile lol.
I don’t have a preference for a particular console either, but having two in one tournament has generally been bad practice. it’s perfectly fine for causals, but when it’s a tournament, having to switch between consoles can have a pretty significant impact on game play.
it’s been proven that there is a 2 frame input delay between the xbox and the ps3 versions of ssf4, and that can cause alot of people who need one frame links to miss them.
I only suggested to run it on xboxes because he has more of them. If ps3s are the preferred system because of the pad issue, please try to find a few more ps3s to make the tournament smoother.
switching between pads/joystick between matches on the xbox can be annoying, but the upside is that you dont’ have people not playing accidentally pausing the game cause their controllers are synced to the ps3 and they hit the home button.
Haha, yeah. Luckly we didn’t have any issues with pads connected to wrong ps3s during last tourney. All the pad players knew that after their match they had to shut off their controllers, so it went pretty smoothly. We’ll have to let everybody know to do the same during this one.
I’ll do what i can to keep everything fair…so anybody has any issues during the tourney please let me know and we’ll do our best to make everybody happy.
i dunno about walking form steels to hwy 7…it’s probably a 15 min drive…so i dunno how long the walk would be!
Yo that is a death walk especially in the cold weather lol actually it’s only 4.1 km according to google maps so it’s doable in an hour but I’m lazy and would bus it for sure.
the problem is it doesn’t matter if it’s off. The home button will turn the ps3 pad on and pause the game. It’s happened before during a tourny and it was never fun to try and resolve the current match.
I think the only pad players are all on ps3, so if you can find a couple more ps3s, i would run a ps3 only tournament.
It should be 360 exclusive or both ps3 and 360
There are at least two 360 pad players as far as I know they don’t have converters to use them on ps3

Yup, either way, I’m set for myself and my buddy on either console, if I feel like a paddy mood, I’ll most likely use my PS2 pad on either consoles whereas if I have faith in my “stick handling” ability, I’ll use my China brand stick.
I would like to see a 360 exclusive tourney and people using the Madcatz fightpad 
Jon - you should have an Xbox 360 to PS3 controller adapter that I provided a few weeks back. It requires a wired 360 pad to function properly.

i think everyone used the Wires last time…i’ll have to make sure i have some of them lying around for people to use incase…i’ll start looking into acquiring more ps3s so we could possibly at least even it up to 3 ps3 and 3 xbox. Problem with ps3s right now is they require hdmi cords and possibly the dvi converter to run them on monitors, but i don’t think i’d be too much of a problem to find a few more. I’ll post up if i can get it going, but as of now i’ll have to run on what we got.
nobody seems to like the madcatz pad! i dunno why…i’ve used it before and it seems pretty good, i like the nice big buttons…if only they did a cross style d-pad instead of floating style.
that $40+ black thingy? does anyone have wired 360 pads though? i heard they are rare!

I also have PS VGA cables that can be used in lieu of HDMI to DVi if needed. Think you have a few in stock there as well.
I can also provide an adequate number of mini-USB to USB cables for the PS3 pads so there’s no scrounging.
I’ve finally got to play against your Fei Long today Jon…and you were using the Fightpad as well!! I think the fightpads and Fighting Commanders require a bit of time much like going from pad to stick~
Met a PS3 only player today before I left tonight’s casual, if I can confirm that me and Patrick(Akuma) are coming to the tourney, my PS3(with HDMI) and 360(with HDMI or Component cables) are available if needed.
Alright, I’ve been pressured into some stick training tonight, not bad, it’s just hard to perform block strings/combos with Ibuki(yes I only main one character while others are…“fun” characters).
In relation to the to casuals thread, loving them, getting better matchup experience there rather that XBL/PSN(yes, welcome to North America).
yeah, pad wars was a blast! i think we’ll have to get a day where we test out all the different types of pads to see how they play.
definitely stick to training joystick!! i got to use your china man stick too…not bad, i switched sticks but it didn’t change anything so nothing wrong with your stick…bison just owns my face!

I’m really really curious about that specific blue Hori pad(Fighting Commander 3 variant?) with the smaller buttons, I think the idea was for people who are looking for Dual Shock alternatives or people who are used to the smaller buttons(i.e. me and Patrick). God you guys gotta force him into trying a stick, I was trying to but he was reassured from a couple of guys saying pad is okay nowadays lol~

Nah but honestly, I play to rash, anytime I face someone playing high defense, something in my head tells me to pressure pressure pressure which isn’t a smart idea with Ibuki sometimes. Gotta calm down when I play and watch some more vids to “learn” to play slower.
