Henshin A Go Go, Baby! Viewtiful Joe Thread

Hmm, I dunno man, I never really have a problem with airdashing after a M RHK. Red Hot Kicks give a lot of hit stun, you can delay the airdash quite a bit and still have time to land it. It’s the same timing from the first part of his BnB.

And no, you don’t have to kara airdash. His kara airdash allows Joe to airdash (or ground dash) twice in a row. It can help you mix up your approach or crossup your opponent. Press :atk:+:atk:, :atk:~:atk: or as I like to do it :l:+:m:, :l:+:m:+:s:

Second shot shouldnt come out since you did 3 specials before that.

It only eats 4 drones of HSF before the shot disappears.
But you can squeeze through a set of drones with the start up of Desperado.
Though I think this might be pointless info since Sentinel might recover fast enough to avoid the shot if its to far away…
Other then that the Desperado super is pretty awesome.

To avoid HSF just do Mach Speed from medium-close range. Works everytime.

can you mach speed between drone waves without x factor? whenever I try it, block stun seems to be too much. and i get hit.

I don’t know. I gotta test it.

everyone here seems to be using joe on point. i do too but sometimes I find myself with joe being the last person on my team which kinda sucks since i always feel like im wasting Xfactor whenever I use it with him.

does anybody do/know of any xfactor specific joe combos? like do slow combos work if they arent slowed and youre in x factor?

X-Factor lvl 2-3 should work instead of the slow.
Example. I like to loop RHKs when in either X-Factor. Its just:
Launcher, (Jump, j.H, Double Jump, j.H, RHK L, RHK M, RHK H, land.)

Its tricky getting that jumping H in. You may have to jump to the target but in corners its easy.

Something I have noticed is that Joe is really good about avoiding certain attacks with his air dash. (I’m sure you Joe players have already seen this.) Due to his small stature it gives me a personal advantage over my opponent because they either can’t stick certain combos or land projectiles (unless Joe is jumping or my opponent does a crouching). But I won’t lie, I’m having some issues working with Joe right now; one of them is pulling off desperado and putting down a good foundation of bread and butters. I have faith in Joe, and I know I can do really well with him, but I think I need some help. Got any pointers for me?

Well i would advise watching flash metriods joe, there are some nice videos in the video thread, he has a very nice bnb he does with joe that you could check out.

Is anyone else having trouble doing the DHC trick (into Joe’s slow) on certain characters? In my case, Deadpool’s Cuttin’ Time DHC Viewtiful God Hand-- if you perform it on Ammy, you can’t follow up at all even though it whiffs. Then with other characters, the DHC trick doesn’t work because Viewtiful God Hand connects. Also, sometimes the timing of when I cancel the Super can determine if it whiffs or connects.

and again, it’s different for each character. Wondering if anyone else had similar findings and/or know a way around it.

Quick questions for the smarter Joe players (I’m the less smarter one, not other people lol), I know that getting in with joe isn’t too much of “the” problem for me, but it’s the fact that I like opening up combos with IAD j.S, simply because I like the hit advantage on it and it feels comfortable. That and it’s hit box is ridiculous. But the problem with this godlike button, is the fact that the damage scaling is horrible…

What’s a better way to get the Joe combos started? Or what combos can be done to do 500k+ with using IAD j.S???

I tried to do this with X 23 and the slow kept connecting when i didnt want it too. but a lot of the time with the cinematic supers, you can let it go super late to the point where the background goes back to normal and than DHC, and the next character will still come out.

whiffing the followups is something I havent heard about tho. maybe just try switching up you timings for said followups.

Actually i had did desperado and taskmasters super just ate it alive. I dunno why but i still didnt get hit at all.

I’ve only played around with Deadpool’s and Magneto’s to DHC into slow, but it seems character dependent after some further testing. Might be more consistent with other character’s Super (to begin the DHC trick) so I’ll try out Storm and others later.

Yeah with Ammy, she drops down before I can even input a button so it’s useless trying to do the DHC trick on her. I think it’s dependent on how fast and where the character’s hit box is when they’re in that falling state. Example, doing it on Zero, when he’s in that falling state, one of his legs sticks way out so it connects. =p

have you tried using an otg assist?

I definitely think joe is a hell of a lot more dangerous with an otg assist, particularly if it hits low as well. Unblockable set-ups are a hell of a lot harder to deal with when your opponent is running at 75% speed. Unfortunately there are(surprisingly) only 3 assists that fit both categories, with one of them belonging to a character I have absolutely no interest in playing(wesker). Ill prolly just run with she-hulk/joe/sentinel, and make tweaks to the team as time goes by.

His F+:m: overhead is probably your best bet, or cr.:h: once you see them standing to block. s.:l: is really good too because it comes out in 4F; I like to fish for counter hits with slightly staggered s.:l: pressure to bait/punish pushblock attempts and I can net good damage that way. IAD j.:h: is just as good as j.:s: I find, and it scales a lot less. Also since it hits once, it’s not completely free to pushblocks the way j.:s: is.

Thanks for the small tips man! I’ll try these out in training mode and find shenanigans to open up opponents!

Not sure what you mean, if you’re referring to me.

Anyways, DHC trick into Joe’s slow being inconsistent is a disappointment. =[ Just gotta learn which characters it doesn’t land on at all, like Ammy =p

if you can get the god hand to whiff, you should be able to call an otg assist (i play x 23) to pick them up so you dont have to try so hard to hit them with joe.

also, back on the ammy thing, I was thinking and i noticed that when I do my X 23 command grab that shoots people into the air, ammy never goes as high as the rest of the characters for some reason. maybe shes just programmed to not go so high in the air after those kinds of resets or something.
