Joe’s :f::m: is so good in this game. Especially after Amaterasu’s Cold Star assist or after you hit with Viewtiful God Hand. Or… after both, actually. Hahaha.

It’s like West said. People are always instinctively blocking low, so after hitting them with an overhead like :f::m: or j.:s: a few times you can work in that high/low mix-up game.

Having Joe on point is so fun. I love him in Marvel 3. I need to work on his combos after hitting Viewtiful God Hand tho’.

So who’ve you guys been running Joe with? Right now I’m rolling with Deadpool katana assist for OTG Slow, but I’m trying to figure out a good 3rd.

I’ve been running Joe on point with Amaterasu and Chris pulling up the rear. Amaterasu’s Cold Star assist and Chris’ Open Fire assist work good for lockdown and help him get in and mix-up the opponent.

Amaterasu’s insanely versatile and a good character just on her own as well.

I’ve had Desperado combo directly after Air Joe, but it’s realy tricky timing…I guess RHK before would make things easier…gonna need to try that out :slight_smile:

i think he meant after the dropkick portion of air joe H. just mash H until he sticks both feet out in front of him then cancel into desp. just take a little practice

Man…the last mission with Joe is making me so mad. I can’t get out the groovy upper but instead i get the voomerang after the slide for some reason. And the overhead I just cant get to land into c.M. im about to quit this mission.

Just some stuff i’ve been using. he has lots of options but this is what i’ve personally been using. Most of this stuff is very basic but decent damage and useage. I’ll also explain why I use certain moves/sequences over other options.

Zoning
-From full screen, :h: Shocking pink, :l: voomerang (charge full). the voomerang will hit the bomb and both will hit around full screen.
-Jump back :m: voomerang has a good hitbox

slow combo

-:s:, super jump towards, j.:m:, j.:m:, j.:h:, :l: red hot kick, :m: red hot kick, :h: red hot kick, j.:m:, j.:h:, :h: red hot kick, j.:m:, j.:h:, :h: red hot kick, Viewtiful god hand, repeat-a-gogo baby ~490 damage

I go for the Viewtiful god hand reset because even if I finish with a Air red hot kick into desperado, it will only add about 50 damage.

bread and butter

Instant air dash, j.:s:, c.:m:, c.:h:, :s:, jump, j.:m:. j.:h:, double jump, j.:m:, j.:h:, triple jump, j.:m:, j.:h:, FINISHER

Finisher’s

  • :s: = ground slam ~265
  • :m: red hot kick, :m: red hot kick = ~329
  • :m: red hot kick, :m: red hot kick, desperado = ~487

    Reasons**
    -Instant air dash j.:s: is very good. It hits fast. Can cross up. 3 hits. hits overhead. good hit box.
    -I only use j.:m:,j.:h: because on smaller characters, j.:m:, j.:m:, j.:h: will miss. On average size characters you can use 1 or 2 j.:m:, j.:m:, j.:h:.
    -Why no air joe? I dont actually understand air joe combos yet. It depends on where the opponent is, relative to where you are in the air. And this depends on what hits you use, how many jumps you’ve used, and which air joe you can actually use.
    -c.:m:, c.:h:, :s:. since i’m using instant air dash j.:s: to get in, sometimes it will do 1 or 2 hits and not the full 3 hits. If it only does 1 or 2 hits, c.:m:, :m:, :h:, won’t hit because of the distant you are after instant air dash j.:s:.

I’m pretty sure Joe BnB’s will include some for of the uppercut. You can continue combos with both the M. and H. versions. Also, I’ve read you can combo into L. after a H. Red Hot Kick but have been unable to replicate it. Is it distance/counter-hit dependent?

IMPORTANT
You guys know about double quick airdash right. when you do a air dash :atk::atk: if you plink it i use light and medium to dash. It should be :l:+:m: then :m:~:l: you should get a double air dash really good for getting in. If i can find my cousin around any where ill use his vid camera and make a vid on it. This is very usefull!

Im pretty sure Mach speed has some start up invulnerability.

It has A LOT actually! The guide says 32 frames of it.

Wow I have the guide but I just skimmed through it. I gotta read up on joe.

I gotta say, dudes, the Brady guide is goddamn amazing. If you have it, absolutely read everything it has to say about using V.Joe, you will learn a ton. The combos alone for all the characters are kind of astounding =O

Does Joe still have his ridiculous throw range?

Ridiculous as in ridiculously bad? It seems like you can’t grab some characters in the corner at all, because of Joe’s huge head…

On a side note, it seems like a lot of early team strategies are built around beating Sentinel, seeing as he’s a huge threat played by pros and noobs alike. I haven’t fought any pro Sents locally, but it seems like Joe has what it takes to beat him. I usually like to call Doom rocks, super jump, M RHK. If they block, air dash in and start your offense with S. Mix up approach behind rocks with wave dashes and kara air dashes. One combo into Slow and he’s done.

Hulk vs Sent doesn’t seem too bad either, super armor on normals and Doom rocks gets it started. But of course none of that will save you from level 3 XF Sent if you don’t block right <__<

Since you’re with the guide on your hands, can you list the most damaging meterless combo that Joe have?

sooo mi wanna use ppl i like im jus curious would this be a good team joe,IM,hulk in dat order joe at point does dat sound like a good team? my copy still hasnt got too me so i cant test it out for nyself

I could see that working out. I am working on Joe/Hulk stuff right now.

Working on Joe/Chris and someone else. May substitute Chris for Arthur in some matches.
