Henshin A Go Go, Baby! Viewtiful Joe Thread

Someone got to send a PM to the TC, we need info on the first post. =(

I stopped using TVC combos after my first match.

Normal > Slide > Launcher all day.

Just noticed something from the So Cal match videos.

Jow actually has two different types of Red Hot Kick now! One type is the standard Red Hot Kick with the pink energy, and then there is a kick in which Joe surrounds himself with fire!

Anyone else noticed this?

Another thing I noticed: the regular Red Hot Kick seems to be safe on block, while the fire one seems to be unsafe on block. Not 100% sure about this, though.

EDIT: Here is proof:

In this video you see Joe performing a downwards standard Red Hot Kick with pink energy (0:29), and then an arched, firey Red Hot Kick. (0:43)

In this video you can see Joe performing an arched, standard Red Hot Kick. (0:49)

B version is safe, C version does about 4 hits(?) and I think is less safe.
This means he can’t C-kick around the top of the screen anymore, but it’s still pretty cool.

Note that A-kick still goes straight downwards

You’re kinda late on that, figuer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, so that was already figured out? Sorry, I was just very psyched about the Red Hot Kick’s safety, and when I asked about it in this thread a while ago, no one seemed to be able to give me a definite answer.

Wait, so there is no horizontal Red Hot Kick anymore?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Yeah, I had very limited time with the game with very crappy controls (noted elsewhere), so I didn’t get to give anything else a try, unfortunately. However, I’m pretty sure Six Machine does more damage then Mach Speed.

I was given the opportunity to play MvC3 several times during Day 1 and Day 2 of SCR. My characters of focus were mainly V.Joe, Thor, Captain America, and Morrigan.

A few V.Joe tidbits of info:
-6B is still in MvC3 from TvC and an overhead. Can cancel into 5C/2C, launch. I don’t think I was able to do 5A/2A before 6B, though.
-Six cannon combo off of Air Joe special, A-and-B Red Hot Kicks, 2C, and certain voomerangs.
-Didn’t test C-Red Hot Kick in air combos, but it felt pretty safe to follow up on hit on grounded opponents.
-Slow super was 63214+2 attacks.
-Mach speed super (623+2 attacks) has a lot more startup this time around and only seemed to combo reliably solo after 2C. Still acts as a launcher after super is over (as we all know).
-V.Joe has very low health. One Wolverine Weapon X super took my full life V.Joe down to half yellow life with some red life.
-Groovy Upper (623A/B/C) makes a good attack during combos. Didn’t really test it’s full combo potential, but always made this attack my V.Joe assist. Second follow-up hit creates helpless free fall state and can probably follow-up with more normals or super.
-Air dash j.C from TvC is now j.E and still a very useful approach for attack pressure and combos.
-Bombs were much more useful and the assist version explodes faster.

I’m currently uploading videos I recorded on Day 1 from SCR (recorded from 5:20pm-8:30pm).

I require videos. Also while I appreciate all the great stuff we have I am not looking forward to the low health.

I don’t really care for low health. Every character that isn’t Ryu needs an obvious weakness imo. Not REALLY, but w/e. He’s small, does good damage and his combos are gonna be looooong.

I’m thinking it might be possible to get several relaunches off with V.Joe. It’s going to be something I’ll mess around and test with if I get a chance at NCR. I was thinking basic combo > groovy upper > a couple of air hits into air joe > assist > launch > combo into air joe > voomerang > launch again and see if I could repeat any relaunches. This is all in theory of course but it’ll be something fun to test out.

Updated the original post, tell me if I missed anything.

I think to kick the Groovy Bomb away is just hold down the command button, not do another QCB+attack command. Thats the way it is in TvC at least.

so you CAN air joe -> mach speed -> air combo, correct?

In TvC holding the button makes him bounce it up and down with his foot doesn’t it?

I personally don’t know, I didn’t get the chance to try.

Yes, but I think in MvC3 its going to kick them outward. The front page has kicking the bomb away as a second QCB+attack button, and I think thats wrong.

It comes from the QA thread.

One of the questions was ‘can he have more than one bomb out at once?’ and the answer was ‘no, doing the motion again makes him kick the bombs’.

I mean it’s possible the person was just crazy (and I’m too lazy to look it up), but that’s where the idea comes from.

Ooooooh. That makes sense. Kinda confused me though.

Maybe Bomb>KFC>'nother bomb? We still havent explored KFC with specials sooo…

That doesn’t seem worth it. Was in TvC though…but not to another one.
