By the way, admitting that you lose to one trick ponies is not a sign that you have skill. It’s a sign that you need to work on mind games, the final step in becoming a better player. That is the whole story. I think we first played a while ago back on scoreboard. I beat you and you ragequit and then sent hatemail.
Since then, I’ve stopped playing scoreboard because of all the rage quitters like yourself. Then we ran into each other a couple more times during player matches. Each time you get beat, you start sending hatemail about how I’m cheap. Of course, sometimes i’ll respond and entertain your rage when I probably shouldn’t have. But it’s just too damn funny to ignore…
I think other players here have also listed you as a ragequitter and hatemailer. I think I remember seeing your name in the bad games thread.
Since you’ve taken the time to register here, I hope you’ll start seeing the light. Read over the links, watch the videos others have posted, and learn. But most important, STOP WHINING.

first of all, mtaylo24, you gotta relax. most people in here are pretty chill. every once in a while you’ll get someone who’ll take a personal shot but for the most part things here are cool.
calling anyone here anything will get you about as far as if you did same offline.
anyway, i’m no blanka expert, but there is a thread you can sift through first. haven’t read it, but i’m sure you’ll find pointers there for your problems.
as for the video, it’s what you need to look for. “spacing” in remix is crucial for all matchups. shenanigans will only get you so far. notice where komodo tries to stay within the match. he isn’t within jab dragon punch range, but close enough to hit ken when necessary. notice he uses the sweep for the knockdown and how only the very tip of his sweep connects. watch what he does after he knocks ken down. those are things to look for.
go into practice mode and put on your hitboxes. go through all of your “normals,” moves that are executed by a direction on the joystick and one button press. see which moves reach the furthest and which moves reach the highest while standing, jumping, and crouching. memorize them. to beat ken, you’re going to have to rely on your normals more than anything else. your crouching hard punch and kick reach the furthest on the ground. your jumping roundhouse is great against fireballers because of how far it reaches from the air.
two other things you need in this situation is being able to slide underneath fireballs, and being able to jump straight up over them. both take a lot of practice. you can go to practice mode and set up the computer to control both ken and ryu. a cpu controlled ryu will throw a lot of fireballs so you can practice jumping over them and sliding under them. note: ken and ryu’s fireball are at different speeds but eventually you’ll get the hang of both.
practice his low forward into ball combo. you should be able to jumpin attack, low medium kick, then ball for three hits without thinking. this does big damage and allows for dizzy possibilities. once they get hit a couple of times, they’ll start blocking and you can go back into biting shenanigans.
last pointer, blanka’s hop backwards has a few invulnerable frames i believe. in other words, he can’t be hit for a fraction of a second while hopping backwards. you can hop in, bait a dragon punch, hop out and then counter and such. good luck.
oh yeah, get a joystick. unless you’re a freak of nature like “snake eyez” you’re going to need a stick. period.

@mtaylo2: After reading this thread thus far, you’ve done well to come here for advice. Aside from your adversary, most people in this thread section are always willing to help you improve your game if you’re serious about learning the game better. As you can see, it’s easy to get caught up in a flame war, I’m guilty of that too, even tho I get a kick out of it. But that’s just me. Yeah, go back to page one of this thread and heed the advice from blitz and thelo and majin, they had some very good advice of where to begin.

@daveappen: Hey I think most of us active players online feel your pain when it comes to RQ’ers and hate mailers but at least the guy you called out here is trying to improve his game. I think if he came out and str8 up dissed you, you’re 1st reply would have been more justified and put you on a defensive to do so. Since he came here for help and you blasted him for it, it didn’t really help the situation at all. Not taking sides here, HDR online players is scarce as it is with SSF4, I like to keep the HDR online community alive as much as possible. I’ve actually seen players transformed themselves from once being dubbed as scrubs, haters, etc. to become better and respected players.
@MisterEgoTrip: There was nothing wrong with my first post. I didn’t bash him excessively, instead, I gave him sound advice. I think my first post was right on the button. Go re-read his first post and then my first post.
Trying to improve your game, without changing your attitude towards the game, means you’re still a scrub. Until Mtaylo can get over what he considers “cheap” and stops whining about everything, ragequitting, and hate mailing, he’ll still be a scrub. I’m all for him changing his attitude as I really have no beef with him. I just find him amusing. In fact, I accepted his friend request, even though he still rages all the time.
