Help with Instant SAI

I searched the forums to no avail, and looked through all the threads I could find. I couldn’t find anything about this.

I’m having trouble pulling off Instant SAI. I know the motion is :qcf: :qcf: :uf: :hp: - I can do it in training mode if I’m on the right side of the screen. However, when I try on the left side of the screen I either get Kubi Ori or Tsuiji Goe, and never an instant SAI.

I think it’s just my execution combined with a very poor quality topmax Dreamcast “stick”. Can anyone give me some advice, or link me to a preexisting thread I didn’t see?

Thanks.

I actually go :qcf: :uf: :qcf: punch. you get an instant super jump instead of having to input qcf first.

Getting a better stick will help a lot. I have a pretty good stick myself but ever since it got stiff on me (about 2 weeks ago) doing more complicated motions (such as TK SA1) have been difficult. To the point of where I won’t try to utilize it too much in a tourney. Probably just gonna buy another Sanwa stick to replace the one in there.

Other than that…practice practice in training mode and the TopMax joysticks…well they’re not good.

u can just do tigerknee then u don’t have to do the fireball motion x2 in the air =D

same, typically when i do the tk in the 2nd qcf, i’m too low to the ground, and they get pushed out of the knives and recover before i finish the super… doing tk, qcf puts me up enough for the daggers to push them far enough away to survive.

he already stated that he knew that. his problem was doing it from the left side of the screen.

and if you have a crappy stick, then you will probably have trouble.

Hmm

Thanks for the good followups. I’m pretty sure it’s just my lack of execution combined with the poor quality of my arcade stick.

I saw in the Thong of Rage Twelve tutorial video a way to combo Twelve’s SAII (X.F.L.A.T.) by inputting a quick 450 degree motion starting at down and ending at forward. I tried it out, and it works for Ibuki’s SA1- although she doesn’t appear to jump up-forward, she jumps up-back instead.

I’m wondering if doing the Instant Air SA1 differently depending on circumstance could be useful. This is theory fighting, mind you, but- since doing it with a 450 motion moves you up-back, perhaps it could be used as an option to punish a dash in attack? A lot of shoto players like to rush down and play dash happy, with a 450 motion you could jump back, avoiding whatever attack they throw out, and super them. Whereas if you did an instant SA1 upforward and Ryu/Ken/Akuma dash in and DP or s.fierce, you’d probably eat their attack on the way up for the super.

Any thoughts? :wonder:

Still can’t do instant SA1 on the left side- I think the gate on that stick is less sensitive on that one side, because I can’t hit confirm with shotos very well on that side either, but I can 100% of the time if I’m on the right. Hmm.

You only need to use TK SAI for wake-up and Gake > SAI.

what the hell is TK SAI?

I been wanting to know for ages
