Help stopping soda addiction?

lol pop addiction…

Like people said just straight up stop. After about 2 weeks you won’t even like the taste of it. Only thing i drink at restaurants is Unsweet tea with a lemon or just water with a lemon. If i drink pop i have like 2 gulps and decide it was a terrible idea. Shit i can’t even finish a full can unless i’m “dieing” of thirst and that’s all that’s available.

i hate pop now…i have it on occasion, but thats it

just buy one of them big jugs of juice/iced tea mix, and make ur own shits

and grow some balls and learn to enjoy beer

I’m right there with you, man. I started drinking a lot of soda as a kid, which led to weight problems. It’s really apparent by looking at old photos. I was a skinny little kid until my parents starting buying soda, and since then, I’ve always had weight problems. I was drinking up to 6 or 7 a day at one point.

Caffeine addiction isn’t really a joke. Sure, it’s not classified as a drug technically, but it is damn near close for many people. I, for one, will get major migraines if I don’t have some sort of caffeine. I drank nothing but water and occasionally juice for a year and half, and was doing great. The main problem I’m having with the addiction is working at a restaurant. I hate our water, so the only alternatives are pink lemonade (I might as well just eat bags of sugar), tea (unsweetened ice tea is disgusting, and well…sweetened is just as bad as soda), or soda.

I’m still struggling with everything myself, but it’s gotten a lot better. My suggestion for kicking the habit is to not have it around as your first step. If it’s not there, it’s not a temptation. Secondly, drink a lot of water. When you go out to eat, always get water. Not only will you kick your habit, but you’ll save a lot of money. I started adding up how much getting a drink with every meal was costing me, and it was pretty insane. I saved a lot when I drank water.

I was getting soda when I would go out to someplace nice for a special occasion, considering it a treat for myself. Don’t. Do. That. Think of soda like a drug. Even one time is enough to pull you back in. Don’t drink diet. Don’t drink caffeine free. Just don’t drink soda. Period. I went a year and a half without one, had one on a special occasion, and it was downward spiral from there. Your best bet is to go cold turkey. The headaches will go away. Drink real juice, none of that added sugar crap, and drink lots of water. It’ll be rough at first, but it’s not impossible. Just stay strong with it.

Yeah, I have the same issue–however, I found myself beginning to dislike it when I started drinking more and more Lemonade. When it was the only thing in there to drink at that point, I just went to that instead of jumping up to go get a soda from the store. It also tasted much better, too.

…However, I’ve regressed back into the soda addict that I am. It’s hard to kick, but it isn’t impossible to do. You just have to tell yourself that isn’t good for you (Especially in the summer, since the addiction is hella stronger than usual here) and that it won’t quench your thirst. Easier said than done, though. Wish I could help more.

I used to drink at least one a day, but one day I just told myself that I was going to stop, and I did pretty much. I’ll only drink a Sprite or something at a party or something. I tasted a Coca-Cola for the first time in a long time, and it really didn’t please me like it used to. Once you quit, you won’t want it anymore afterwords.

You mean to tell me that juice I buy that has five ingredients on it that says it’s 100% juice on the fruit really isn’t?

Nigga I’m about to raise all hell if you tell me it aint!

Just stop drinking that shit! It’s bad for you. 5 months ago I just decided to get healthier and quit cold turkey. It makes a huge fucking difference!

Exercise more often, then drink water to keep yourself hydrated.

How often do you drink soda when you work out? Most likely you only drink it when you’re lounging around or are eating.

Stop eating sweets as well.

start using heroin, then see how addictive soda pop is

Surround yourself with a bunch of chinese when you feel like drinking your Coke…

this stuff is dope right here and it’s like 99 cents for a box of 10 single serving packets: Wyler’s Light Sugar-free Drink Mix by Jel Sert

Water, Water and more water, Yeah i know it feels empty when you really want a soda, but after a week or two you get used to is and you don’t want soda anymore, it also seems to help if you work out or do something where your bady actually wants water and not soda, I used to down like 6-8 cans of soda a day, the i stopped for a year. I drink it now but i don’t even like it, its just that i’ll drink it when theres nothing else to drink.
Don’t buy soda or if someone else in the house likes soda just make sure that water is always closer.

Try to find a good substitute for soda. I stopped drinking soda because it was doing some serious damage to my teeth. Now i just drink mostly orange juice and water. I do have some soda on occasion, but i immediately brush afterwards.

The best thing to do is to just find a good substitute (something healthy) and lay off the soda for a week. Thats what i did, and i barely miss drinking it now. Not only that, i lost surprising amount of weight now that soda is out of my system.

I support the beer idea.

hahahahaha

yeah really…you should see how people drink tim hortons coffee in canada, like they need 3 or 4 a day. And no one thinks its an issue. Soda addiction is always suprising to me…even though i’ve seen a bunch of people that drink way to much pop. Like it still blows my mind when someone starts their day with a coke.

If you’re not gonna quit, start drinking diet instead, as it is remarkably less horrible for you.

Buy 3 Litre bottles of Orange juice. OJ with ice is a good substitute for soda.

I once drank 6ltrs of coke straight. that was a rush, I was awake for 3 days on nothing but coca-cola and eletricity.

I thought the chemicals placed in diet sodas to replace sugar were worse for you than regular sodas(although they both have sodium benzoate and it “conveniently” reacts with citric acid to create benzene)… explain(seriously I’d like to know why)?

People get worked up over diet sodas for some reason, but I don’t think the concerns ultimately amount to much of anything- be it the aspartame stuff or the newer(?) concerns about benzene, they’re more urban legend than legit health concerns as far as I can tell.

Benzene in Soft Drinks

More simply, if there were serious health risks, people would have sued for millions of dollars, and the products would have been discontinued because of that, if for no other reason. If something as popular as diet colas were really harming people in any way that could be proven/measured, it would end up costing those companies billions of dollars. So I would be skeptical on that basis alone.

Though, if you wanna get worked up about it anyway:

edit: Anyway, your average soda is loaded with sugars. So all things considered, I think a fairly strong case could be made that they wouldn’t be better for you than diet sodas, overall.

You ever suck some dick for Mr. Pib!?
