Shall I do al my rain in photoshop or ink the rain in every panel of my comic, or a mix of both? What’s the best way to tackle this element?
Anyone know of any tutorials online? I have to draw my characters soaked, dripping and shiny. Any help would be great.
Thanks gang.
Rain? I think you draw the picture the way you normally would (without showing the rain drops) and shade everything with photoshop the way to normally would. Just add a layer to whatever you’ve done then Filter>render>clouds
then
Filter>noise>add noise (make it monotone)
then
Filter>blur>motion blur
and make the angle of the blur the direction the rain’s supposed to be falling. Then set the mode of the layer to one of the different modes until it looks close to what you want. I think that works. For a real tutorial on photoshop though you could probably find better advice just searching on google.
Thanks for that Genryusai I’ll give that a whril. Also Though I’m still wondering about the wet fx on the characters. I want to have drop dripping off them and stuff. Maybe I’ll just draw the pic do your method. Then trace over the line work ink the drops and make them transperent…
Keep the techinques coming though guys.
www.polykarbon.com has a nice, simple rain tutorial for photoshop, I believe.
yeah i did the rain thing before in PS its pretty good. Try adjusting the contrast/levels o fthe rain layer for a more solid look.
This is a quick test I tryed mixing some of the methods you guys have helped me out with.

I know there’s a alot wrong with the actual pic it was more of a doodle. It’s a kind of warm summer moonlight rainstorm type of feel.
