I’m very average, this game is very staple at my arcade, so I like to become top tier at it, or at least try
Tier list?
I’m using ryu, ken, blanka and a little chun, I think I’m okay with bison.
One thing I can’t my heard around is throws, If someone blocks my attack then if they’re close they almost imediately get the grab it’s weird like a trap.
And
ryu and ken pros are hard to beat, that is all the people my arcade ever play.
if you’re losing to ryu/ken then there’s nothin you can learn but how to play street fighter. learn spacing. once you learn spacing then you’ll have the game down. no amount of online advice can help you with spacing. that’s all experience yo.
Just to be realistic…what makes you think you are average? I haven’t heard of “average” players not knowing what a tick throw is (the trap you described). The tick throw is an extremely well known strategy in any fighting game (although more useful in SF I’d say).
Edit: Nevermind, misread…yes, if you are too close, they can throw. If you recover really fast, you should be able to throw first…hence, tick throw.
Watch videos of the best players play, analyze them and try to understand why they do what they do (and not just think that they decided to just randomly toss out the move). Assuming your arcade has atleast average players, you should be wary of the strats you have noticed in those videos, and know how to counter them.
Thanks very much for the good info emil, 4neqs and callmeanewb
I been playing FG for a long time I’m no slouch but I’m no pro either
I use blanka mostly he has great range and his down and fierce punch is damn good, I’m very attacking and I don’t turtle that well in SF2CE, I’ve played fighting games for like 15 years now maybe longer, just not that much of SF2CE in the last 5 years.
I get what your saying about spacing but I don’t think that what it is, it just that trap it throws my whole game off, I tried using crouching lp, lk etc to keep them from getting close but it doesn’t help that much
you guys have anything mean I can exploit, something really dirty?
guile doesn’t seem that good, I good with him in SF EX, so I’ll try him, thnx again
I first posted this query in the HSF SFII AE thread, but I got no replies, so I assume that thread is dead and I’m now copy and pasting it here. How do you go about comboing two dash uppers with CE Rog as seen in this vid at 0:52? And is this also possible for HF Rog as well? Thanks in advance.
Those top 5 dominate the game, but everyone is usuable. I wouldn’t be swayed by tier lists in this game, just use whoever you like. But if you really want to be become a legend at this game you’ll have to pick one of the top 5.
Throws are what its about in this game, learn to tick throw like a bitch and escape them. Remember when jumping inm if you hit the opponent too high up then they get a free throw. Try doing a reversal move to stop tick throwsm or timing your own throw to stop their tick attempt.
Against Ryu and Ken you have to get round thier fireball and dp patterns. If we take Ce bison as an example. Try and stay at Roundhouse Kick range. You can keep doing these to stuff fireball attempts. Try not to jump in unless you know its safe otherwise your garunteed to eat a dragon punch. Crouching Hard punch with hit them out of thier Hurricane kicks and can also be used as a reliable anti-air. Punish any mistakes with Sicssor kicks, if too far away use Psycho crusher.
ALways look to land scissor kicks as you combo it into crouching strong punch then standing forward kick for a garunteed dizzy. Then simply redizzy the opponent untill they die. When you knock them down, go for crusher crossups. when they stop getting hit by it, you’ll probably drag them to the corner where you can do something like 2 crouching jabs then throw.
Bison’s throw is great and easy to tick. A good meaty wake up tick is standing strong then throw. Another good meaty option is crouching forward kick, crouching strong punch then scissor kick for a dizzy if it hits, if not, continue with scissor kick string pressure. Which doesn’t really work all that well at shotos but something to bear in mind.
Most CE bison users do roundhouse scissor kick, crouching strong, standing forward, repeat. This is ok, but shotos will dp out of it nearly everytime. Try doing, forward scissor kick, crouching short, standing short, repeat. This is alot tougher and even shotos can have trouble with it unless they are legends with the dragon punch.
Two Dash Uppers = You have to be reaaaaally fast with charging. Do the quick charge trick: Do the first Dash Upper as charge B,F,B + LK. You should have just enough time to link a second one afterwards.
And no, this doesn’t work for HF Rog cause the hit stun on Dash Upper (hell, hit stun on virtually everything) got reduced.
