Hi, recently tried to mod an old ps3 madcatz Te1 with a universal Brooks fight board. Unfortunately it didn’t go as planned. Besides the L1 button, none of the other button works. However, if I hold L1 down, all the other buttons work besides O and X. I heard this could be a grounding issue but I am not sure abt how to approach it. (tried reconnecting all the grounds but no results) Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!
Post some decent quality pics of the wiring
Here’s just a general image of the Brooks board, if u want anything in particular just tell. Thanks for the help.
Just added an image thanks.

The wiring around your DP/LS/RS stuff looks really messy, and looks potentially shorted out. You should clean up that section.

If you have one button (in your case L1) that works, but other buttons that work only when that one (L1 in your case) is pressed, in my experience it usually means you have your GND daisy-chain done wrong.
Normally your wiring should be like the row above: black is ground, blue is the individual button signals.
In a case like yours, the wiring is more like the row below: the daisy-chained ground to subsequent buttons are connected to the signal wire of the working button.
Thanks so much for helping, it’s late here so I will fix it tmmr will update. Thanks!
I didn’t ever modify the button wiring is it normal for there to be daisy chain issues?
dude…
just reiterating what @FreedomGundam said
that is a rats nest you got there
trust me, take the wires out and put them all in neatly, make sure only a few mm is exposed so it don’t stick out the other end when you have screwed them down
