i never knew upper and lower body invincibility existed. i thought that shit was only in GG. stupid me.
anyway,…im not sure whether this is possible mid-screen, but after you block an EXSBK on wakeup, lpSRKxxSA3 works. when chunli is knocked down, try moving ken in a certain way over her grounded body to provoke the player to pull out EXSBK. its all about nervs and pyche. this will make chunli not want to do it as often as before.
what also helps the situation…is that when chun is in the corner knocked down, chances are that ken can score free damage and pressure with wakeup tick throw patterns and shit. and chances are…that ken players WILL take the opputunity once they have it. Why? think about it…too much work has gone in for ken to get chunli in the corner. now ken got that bitch, he’s going to go for it.
still, it can’t really be called invincibility, it’s like saying all chars have near fullscreen invincibility:P It’s simply not right. Invincibility only occurs when a character is there but can’t be hit at that point. The only things that actually show this behavior are several SAs. It’s much easier to see the difference in GG then 3s tho:P
That’s not really a pro-active approach to the situation. If Chun starts thinking you’re going to try and block her on wake-up, you get thrown. Punishing a move after the fact and being able to stop it are two totally different games, so nailing a Chun with a meaty close strong fierce XX whatever is preferable to eating a throw for blocking. Ken is supposed to scare her on wake up, not be scared.
Not sur if any of ken’s moves have priority over it. I know SRK’s wont work because it starts has low and ken get’s hit high if he tries it at close range.Best thing to do is try and vary. Dash in and dash back out as she wakesup, dash in block, dash in and do a vertical super jump. Jump back.Jump over. She will be vulnerable at the end of her move.Make her regret it each time.
I kinda see epsilon’s point. But gold-reaver is right. What epsilon is describing has invincibily is just the priority of moves. Upper or lower or air invincibility as epsilon calls it, is just uber priority from what i see. Some moves do have mad priority over moves that hit on the same plane has them, sometimes moves that are on both . True invincibility is a total whiff like gold reaver was saying.
i’m sure i’ve knocked Chun out of her EX SBK with Ken’s b.MK overhead a few times. i was playing w options against EX SBK wakeup and it hit more consistently than jab or fierce shoryus.
i guess there’s an option if you don’t like dancing. otherwise yeah… just try to hide the fact that you’re baiting to punish. do crossup whiff HK or something as she gets up.
I was able to beat an EX SBK with a crouching short as Ken. The animation came out for a split second and ended when crouching short hit her. But…I would advise against that.
I just normally block when someone does SBK on wakeup and if you’re flashy red parry at the end and yeah.
The semantic problem here is that “invincibility”, like “priority”, is a nebulous concept that players use to make understanding the game easier, but that doesn’t really exist. “Invincibility” is just the absence of hittable boxes, not some special property hard-coded into the game on some moves.
Chun has one reversal option on wake up, between the opponent, myself, and god, we all know what it’s going to be if it comes out.
As a Chun player, the EX Birdkick is my back up move. I’m primarily looking for a safe break in the assault or to cr.jab out. I tend to EX Birdkick on reaction to back dash setups. Maybe I’ve been slow, but I think Ken has a variety of options to shut it down, the best of which is just goading her into it.
yep. we actually talked about this over in the chun forum too… ironically enough. But, seeing as how this is the Ken thread, and I play against mostly ken, Im going to tell you what to do. When Chun does wakeup SBK, dash at her. Thats it. SHow the guy standing next to you that he can give you as much damage as he wants, you’ll still keep coming! (Don’t really try it though, because if you do, you are going to lose…)
In this vid(I am Akuma, but the normal used is the same) at about 4:19, she does a EX SBK right AFTER wake up, but you can see where the ducking strong punch will stuff it. I’m pretty sure that other normals will stuff it if in that same area and time(like UOH).
