So I’m pretty close to buying a wireless adapter for the XBox 360 (need Streets of Rage 2), but it’s pretty expensive, and I need to know if it’s easy to use before buying it. It’d be nasty if I spent over 100 bucks and it doesn’t work. My heart couldn’t handle that.
Does anyone have any experience with this product? I’m already slowly getting tired of the four games I have for the 360.
Also, if you get an achievement on a game, but then shortly after turn the 360 off, do you still retain the achievement?
As far as I know, you just plug it in and it works. Theres a chance you might need to do a bit of configuration though I dunno.
If you have a computer in the same room connected to the wireless though, and you have a wired network port on your computer, you can just connect the xbox straight to the computer and enable internet connection sharing (which is easy to do) and it works. I did this while I was at my parents house cause I didn’t want to spend $100+ on that damn network adapter.
And yeah, as soon as you get the achievement its saved.
That’s just the thing though, I tried plugging the ethernet cable into the computer, and while I would do the ip check, it would say the cord was disconnected, which didn’t make any fucking sense because it was plugged into both the XBox and the computer. I tried plugging it into my computer and some funky message about “not being able to negotiate a lease” with my computer was coming up. So I think the gay adapter is a necessary evil for me. I hope it’s just as easy as plugging it in though. That would be excellent.
I have had a fair amount of people have trouble with configuring it come into my store. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, just a lot of people having a hard time figuring out how to set it up. You can get a used one for like 50 or 60 bucks I think and the only difference is packaging. I’d recommend borrowing zach’s if he’s offering. Or at least figure out how to get your stuff working with a ethernet cable before you lay down a bill on something that might not even work.
EDIT: Oh also, this might be crucial. For like the last week xbox live has been fucked for everyone. This might have something to do with your troubles, but I honestly have no clue.
Wow, thank you Zach, I’ll have to take you up on that offer! =]
I see I see. At the party I was at last night, someone there had a 360 with a wireless adapter in it, and I asked them how much trouble they had with it, and he said “yeah all I did really was just plug it in.”
Sean’s having issues with his wireless adapter, it keeps saying that it can’t find the wireless router…any input on what to do about this? (he just bought a new router and it was working just fine then alluvasudden poof nothing)
I bought a card for xbox live along with 1600 marketplace points like a few weeks ago, there isn’t like a time limit to those cards are there? Like if I don’t use them for so long, that they become inactive?
Not that I know of no. I’ve had mine laying around for about a year before I finally activated it. Just be careful not to scratch too hard. You can potentially scratch off the code…doh!
