Hello, from Arcade-In-A-Box (10% Off Coupon SRK10)

Actually, after playing SFIV, I don’t think there’s a need to have a dedicated button for Focus and Throws. They both seem simple enough to pull off, even on my unmodded Hori EX2 stick.

Wow! that is a nice one isurus.

Like Ed mentioned, the chrome trim would have been better since you have a black background with your artwork. Did you take off the 360 or PS3 switch label on your box? Either way, still looks nice. Thanks for sharing!

Now I need to ask, was it all worth it in the end?

Sick looking stick man.

Oh and I still want eight buttons.

that’s nice isurus. i also used bruce, but in his yellow jumpsuit.

There was no label there. The circle is for 360, the line is for PS3.

It’s definitely worth it. But I think I may want to try a lighter spring or swap the stick out for a IL Euro. The Happ stick is a bit too tight and springs back to neutral a little more than I want when I let go.

I really need to learn how to use a stick again, and learn comboing with it. My friends demolish me still :stuck_out_tongue:

^^Is the joystick soldered as well? Or does it use the 5pin connector?

I feel fortunate on buying before this happened, its all understandable for the price raises.

Does not make sense that upgrade to Sanwa/Semitsu parts are still the same despite the dollar to yen conversion issue. Probably the site has not been fully updated yet.

I believe it’s soldered, but don’t really know. I haven’t opened it up.

I just ordered my PS3/360 Slim Arcade Custom stick today, despite the slight increase in price. Sanwa stick & buttons, curved-close layout, headphone jack I’m really, really excited, even though I know it’s not going to be until mid-late April until I receive it.

We just did an overall price upgrade because IL raised their prices a few days ago as well. I don’t buy from happ hardly at all anymore.

Isurus, You have an IL stick in there buddy. Personally, I think the IL sticks are a little more tight than the happ ones.

Based on the 500 phone calls over the last few days let me clarify a few things here.

  1. No, we will not do an 8 button layout. Arcade standard. I am pretty sure tournament standard will be 6 button as well.

  2. No, we won’t make a wireless stick.

  3. No, we WON’T do 8 BUTTONS.

  4. Correct, you seriously do not need 8 buttons to play SFIV

  5. Thank your for calling Arcade-in-a-Box, we don’t do 8 button layouts.

Obviously the demand is there, but you need to realize how much work would be spent adding this. It’s not as simple as adding 2 more buttons. New art files have to be created for each system and button layout. New CAD files and CUT files have to be created for the CNC. Man hours updating the website.

Sorry guys, it’s not going to happen. Probably ever, but at least not anytime soon.

The 8 button has kind of driven Ed nuts a little (cannot blame the 500 calls) Points #1, #3, and #5 are exactly alike. I also think people are wondering the reason QD are not done even if requested or willing to pay extra for. I suppose an FAQ is needed soon to answer these questions, or else 100s of phone calls everyday will slow down the order queue for everyone.

Not sure if the buttons are from HAPP. The price of upgrades make sense now to me now if iL raised their price. For a person to get sanwa, they have to pay the new cost of iL and then upgrade.

As a heads up, website also needs to finish updating prices on the dual system upgrade.

Right now it is at 70$

$155 for PS3 non-custom stick. $240 for non-custom dual system stick. A difference of $85.
$175 for 360 custom stick. $250 for custom dual system stick. A difference of $75

Ordering the upgrade as a separate order will save the customer money.

Good point, thanks aplax.

The overall demand was also a factor in the price increase. The queue is growing to roughly 300 sticks now with an average of 18 orders a day for the last 3 days.

There is a FAQ on the new site. I think I need to move the phone number to the FAQ page.

I am also considering removing the upgrade options from the site. Having people cancel their order and reorder if they want to change something. Seriously, all of the changes to orders is making me a little sick.

As for people changing up the order, I would either charge them an extra $10 if it is not very minor or put them at the bottom of the list. Now I think it is the #1 reason slowing down the order queue, not fair to the other people who made up their minds in the first place.

I noticed there is an FAQ on the new site, but it is coming soon. Not that I am interested, I noticed the PSX/PS2 controller option is no longer available.

It is perfectly OK to increase price because of the high demand, it is a good business move. Most people thought they would pay 150 for a MadCatz, but they are paying 320+ for it now.

I’m sorry if the request for this change “sickens” you. But seriously, should I not ask? I didn’t know you would not do it, and I didn’t know about whatever impediments precluding you from doing it. Further, I didn’t know about the 500 phone calls. I didn’t know how many calls you receive any given day and about what. Come to think of it, I didn’t even call.

How stupid would it have looked if I wanted something but didn’t ask for fear that a) it’s not something you are open to doing and b) you are receiving a deluge of calls about it? Both are things I can’t be expected to know for sure. Sure 8 buttons is not something on the list of options you give, but you’re not exactly mcdonald’s either, and I remember you posting that you like when people don’t order a McJoystick.

I’m entirely fine with the answer that 8 buttons isn’t an option for various reasons. I accept that I don’t know what goes into making a joystick and can’t make any business decisions about producing them. But I’m feeling as if I’m being told I should have known better than to ask in the first place. I don’t think that’s reasonable.

That is the reason I have suggested a FAQ many times over the past few weeks. Most people want to know something, but cannot, so it was reasonable for 500 calls in regards to wireless, QDs, weight of the stick, date of artwork submission, or 8 button options.

At least it is coming, an FAQ.

What is a McJoystick?

haha boy am i glad i ordered when i did.

Well, here’s to hoping that Ed will be able to catch up with all the orders, and that the stick production rate will only get better, and not worse.

I’m surprised your not doing the 8 button layout after playing SFIV I can tell why people are making the request considering how fast the revenge meter fills up i’m using at least one ultra combo a round sometimes 2 against a good opponent and in all honesty It’s a lot easier/quicker to hit the one button as opposed to 3.

Well of course it’s easier to do it. It’s also either to throw with one button. That’s just not how the game was designed in it’s arcade form. Sorry, I am just a purist that way. Plus, if you plan on competing in a tournament I bet they won’t allow you to use macro buttons anyway.

Sorry for coming off like a dick earlier, it was a long a trying day. Trying to calm down.

I really don’t mind the changes that much. It was just easier to handle when it was 30 orders I had to keep track of and not 300.

What I guess I don’t understand is the order and then 10 minutes later and email asking to change the joystick or the button layout. I guess I am just used to really researching something before I order, but I can understand that people are trying to get their order in fast to get in the queue as quick as they can, and I think that is why most of the order changes are happing.

Tombrokaw, I do apologize for how I came off earlier. Just chalk it up as a bad day.
