Hello, from Arcade-In-A-Box (10% Off Coupon SRK10)

I had not even though about that. Great suggestion, thanks.

Correct.

I came up with a new design, it’s a little xbox 360ish.

These are just image captures of the design files. I’ve cut out one, I’ll take a picture later today.

I’m trying to decide if the start or guide buttons should be on the top as well, or all 3 of the other buttons on the side(s).

Why aren’t you making PS2 sticks, just out of curiosity? There are plenty of people around here who still do their fightin’ on the good’ ol PS2.

Also, you should consider selling blank boxes, designed to fit either Happ of Sanwa/Seimitsu. Some people don’t have the woodworking skill/tools to make a box, but have the skills/tools to solder the parts.

Otherwise, all that stuff looks pretty cool! Good luck to you!

buttons on jap look too spaced out

Will the old faceplace design still be available?

The Neo-Geo MVS system if very well done. Do you by chance, have a uni-bios installed on those.

I do. I have a lot to add to the store still. Most of the work I did was custom jobs for customers, but I’m starting to make that stuff more available now that I have my CNC router. I’ve done PSX, PS2, DC, Xbox, etc. I just haven’t had the time to make one of each to snap pictures of to get on the site.

I might possibly put just shells online for purchase, though I will always do custom CNC cutting for people. I usually do the boxes with IKEA style cam and pins also, to make assembly easier for those without access to a lot of tools.

Thanks

Agreed, I’m still tweaking that one until I cut it. Also note that the holes you see are the actual size of the hole, not the size of the entire button. I do need to do some adjusting though.

Of course, I don’t throw away my drawing files or my CNC code. It’s just a matter of putting some wood on the machine and cutting away. I’m kind of a digital pack rat :).

Thank You, I actually in the process of building 2 that I need to sell pretty quick, so they will probably be marked down at least 100 dollars from the site. They do not have the Uni-Bios installed. Really the only added item to them is the JammaBoards.com MVS to Jamma convertor to deal with the sound issues.

I was looking at this item and wow, $150? One could buy a nice Mas for X-box at about $90.

Nice stick and all, but i don’t see why one would spring to pay $60+ more.

Not for a Mas 360 stick. 9-button starts at $155 and 11-button is $166.

360 as in: Happ 360 or X-box 360? I myself prefer normal Happ competition stick, and e-starland sells MAS’s with those for about $90.

As for X-box 360 compatibility, aren’t there Xbox1-to-360 adapters out there? Could just buy the cheaper MAS for the old xbox and use an adaptor to get it working with the 360. Just my opinion.

360 as in Xbox 360. There are no good adapters for anything to 360 as of now.

The only adapter for anything to X360 is the XFPS which runs about $80 and from what I hear it sucks. It’s pretty much use a X360 PCB or nothing.

Just to reiterate what others said. Yes, 360 as in Xbox 360. I didn’t realize that was confusing, sorry about that.

Have you taken any pictures of the new design yet?

Anyone ordered from these guys? The sticks on the site look great, their prices are right there with MAS … just curious how the actual product turned out for those who ordered.

How’s the wiring? Quick disconnects for easy replacement? Wood quality? (I am not familiar with what exactly Melamine is)

Gotta say, the option to do an overlay strangely makes this a far better choice than the fugly MAS stock overlays.

I’ve used their full on simulator in a box device at Classic Gaming Expo, and I can vouch on the outside they’re beyond nice. If I wasn’t so happy with my HRAP and ever felt the need for a happ stick, this would be the one I’d get.

(Although a photo tour of the inside of their product would be nice.)

How much would a Playstation stick cost? Or an IKEA-style case? The site says the stick height is 4.5 inches, is there anyway you can make it lower? Like 5 inches including the actual stick?

Ed! Lemme look inside your box! :wgrin:

Sorry guys, I didn’t realize this thread had come back to life :).

To answer a few questions. I use insulated quick disconnects for everything except the JLF sticks. With no common ground (until I try the new game pads), I need to solder.

As for the wood, go to home depot or lowes and look for the shelfing wood. It’s usually white. What we use is very similar, only black instead of white. It’s 3/4"

I hate myself for not taking a picture of the new design. I actually gave that stick away to at a local King of Kong event over the weekend. I’ll get another one built (in white this time) and take some pictures this time :).

I’ll try to take some pictures of the inside for the next one I do as well.

Playstation 1 or 2? Shoot me and email and we can discuss it. (ed.farias at arcadeinabox.com)

The entire height of the box is about 4.5 inches, the wood part. I’m not sure of the height includeing the joystick.

It should be easy to make it shorter though. With the size of the stick, the height makes it so I can mount the PCB on the back inside piece as there isn’t much room on the control panel. though moving the Start,Guide, Back buttons to the side will give enough space, I need to play around it.

As for the price of a blank shell, typically around 45-60 dollars. Mostly for router time, and slot cutting for the t-molding has to be done by hand.
