Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

What are your favourite cards? Could be something that you run in every deck, or it could be something that’s an instant game changer. My favourite cards are:

**Knife Juggler: ** I think this is a fun card, especially if you can manage two of them. I only wish you can stealth them. A must-have in a hunter deck, and any deck/class that can spawn tokens.

Lorewalker Cho: I use this mainly in my discard decks, but he should be good in any deck if you want to have some fun, especially when both players are slinging spells back and forth. I learned recently that Cho ruins miracle rogue, so you should be running this card if you run into them often.

Gotta go with the Defender of Argus. Dude makes you regret not killing minions just short of trading with yours, or actually gets them out of that trade range. Love his usefulness.

Also Stormpike Commando. For some reason, I keep bringing him back to my decks. Which does backfire sometimes, lol.

Ragnaros is my favorite card, I think. Just something about playing an 8/8 for 8 that smashes stuff randomly is a lot of fun.

I’ve tried running Cho to counter miracle, and he tends to just eat a Eviscerate.

I really like Earthen ring farseer. Extends the time you have against burn decks and keeps your heavier minions healthy after a trade.
Scenarios like T2 Yeti > T3 Farseer or T5 Smith > T6 Farseer + Agent keeps a stranglehold on the board

My all time favorite card currently is the Crazed Alchemist since he can do so much for his cost. Anything with 4 or less attack but more than 4 health can be swapped to let you death it as a priest or whack it with a truesilver as a paladin after the optional humility/aldor combo.

Or if someone leaves a recruit alive after turn 3 and then drops a big minion which can have it’s attack set to 1 with humility and then swap it’s stats for the kill.

And his attack voice clip just sums up the way I play almost all of my decks “Don’t rush me!”

I’m also starting to like the Ancient Mage that I run in my spell damage shaman deck. You let two totems survive past turn 4? 4+ damage forked lightning on your two x/4 dudes

Checked out the latest episode of day9’s decktacular since I haven’t had time to watch anyone of those during the summer and apparently he got the same idea as I did with the Ancient Mage

We built amlost the same deck too with a few cards deviating.

I’d play Alchemist more if he didn’t force you to use his Battlecry, can be a liabilty in midrange decks. He’s pretty good in Zoo and Murloc decks though.

I can see him being used more if shaman becomes the flavor of the month again since he can one shot their totems. Or to combo with the nerubian egg.

Some dude Zues played it at some point and Strifecro picked it up and played it at the most recent tournament, IEM?

It’s going to be godlike for tempo play at the least. It’s 5/5 for 5 which is already good, and it pretty much puts a huge stop sign for the turn saying “you cannot remove these minions without trading minions/weapons/hero power”.

With what posters said before, if you already have solid board control, like say a turn 4 yeti or more and then you go into turn 5 with loatheb, momentum can easily avalanche in your favor and you might just run away with the game.

Even past turn 5, making spells 5 more is absolutely staggering. Aside from preventing combos like bloodmage thalnos + swipe or w.e, it makes pretty much playing any spell a massive hassle.

If a druid wanted to cast Wrath and throw down a yeti to catch up on board control, now he can’t. So he’ll have to throw down the yeti and maybe another minion while his opponent gets to react in whatever way he planned or eat the 7 cost wrath and either waste the whole turn/throw down a harvest golem at turn 10 which probably might not be enough to threaten your opponents board.

Loatheb will be very dangerous if timed well, similar to sap. Imo it’s going to be a top 5~ legendary at the least. A solid 5/5 at minimum vs classes like warrior/paladin that probably have an alternative answer peace keeper, weapons etc…

I wouldn’t be surprised if they nerf him to 4/5 later down the road.

Also my favorite card is easily Ancient of Lore. If it were bumped to a legendary neutral it’d be in the top 3 without a doubt imo. The fact that you can have 2 of these in a druid deck is just amazing.

No replacement for ancients of lore, even nourish is very lacking in comparison.

Cards I enjoy using overall; Auctioneer, Violet teacher combos, frothing berserker/acolyte of pain in warrior decks, coin + SI-7 Agent, Misdirection *you all know why *, bloodmage thalnos combos, etc…

Cards i love in arena; Big game hunter ESPECIALLY FOR DRUID, Blood knight the game stealer, faceless manip, Cult master when you have a bunch of tokens/taunts/totems/little minions to trade, Worgen infiltrator, Emperor cobra, Mind control tech, Argent commander/Azure drakes, Sunwalker, dark iron dwarf etc…

The former 3 being the neutral epics that i usually want. Big game hunter/Faceless manip is like the universal anti bullshit control in a mode where bullshit can happen.

Cards I like vary in effectiveness, usually just means I enjoy them.

Knife Juggler, Defender of Argus, and Unleash the Hounds have been consistently performing well. So much so that (In the case of Juggler/DoA) I am hard pressed to make decks currently without them. My Zoolock is slowly becoming formidable.

Things I like a lot: Leper Gnome and Demolisher. Leper Gnome is just so damn good, if it manages to even get a hit in or kill another minion is has made back more than it’s cost already. If it is able to get two hits in it has exceeding past all expectations, I’ve had a Leper Gnome put out eight damage plus the Deathrattle before eating the dust. With the new boosts to Deathrattle, I see him becoming more of a staple around decks centered on that concept.

Demolisher is just loads of fun, non-suicidal Mad Bomber and less threatening Ragnaros. Basically it always performs for me in some aspect, whether it is eating up valuable spells from my opponent, wasting his board to clear it, or simply being ignored so it can chuck bombs at stuff. Coupled with Juggler and DoA I’ve had loads of success with this card and find it to be a tad underrated.

I could go on really. But I think these cards represent currently what I am very fond of. Love you Knife Juggler and Leper Gnome! If I could get a Gnome hero at some point I’d make a Gnome only deck. It’d suck ass but I’d enjoy the hell out of it.

lost to a guy in arena with a nuts deck, requeue and i play him again and get smacked down even harder.

I think i played him earlier in my run too but he stumbled out of the gate. :frowning:

But is that really a nerf though?

It won’t kill a yeti in one go and live, that’s definitely a nerf.

It’s a nerf for everyone except priests.

My favorite card of them all might be the good old Faceless Manipulator.
Simply because it’s so versatile, great usage on defense and offense, big momentum swings.
Many nasty combinations & possibilities.

The trick is you drop a big ass creature beforehand. If you’re ahead with minions on the board a cho will push you over the top

I see. I need to go all in and play Cho + King Mukla!
