Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

i just played the deck vs. a control warrior, he couldn’t even hit me by turn 14, then he conceded after i killed his ysera. it’s grindy and slow, and thats your win condition.

I’m sorry. I meant I play with 2 archers. He plays with one. I think he played with 2 at one point.

The one of’s are all either clunky to have when drawn several of, rely on other pairs of cards to get value* or work as a third or fifth… trigger to a combo, additionally they aren’t required but can yield great value.
Having a pair of archers or humility in your hand doesn’t accomplish much and you end up running out of cards.
Kodo combos with 3 other cards, 1:3 ratio means that it’s a good chance you get value out of him the times you end up drawing it, not as high doing it back to back. Archer is an additional equality trigger or similar, cycles for 1 mana if drawn with acolyte. Acolyte cycles but can potentially draw a lot of cards with Pyromancer but could be clunky and slow if you have two of them in your hand.

I’ve noticed that Kolento plays a lot one of cards but they usually make sense if you think about it.

@"Pimp Willy"‌ Kolento said on stream that the most suitable replacement would be Ysera.

Edit: Blade Flurry is a good example of a one of, can yield great value, clunky when you have several and relies on another pair of cards.

Edit: Sorry for formatting, obnoxious to do it on a cellphone.

Got Mage this time for Arena but horrible cards to pick from, went 1/3 again. Hopefully tomorrow I can get a better showing.

I JUST REALIZED WHAT MY OTHER CARD IS!!! BLOODMAGE!!!

So I’m gonna go through the individual cards and try and give you my reasons for using them and the deck in general.

1 ofs (in his deck):

Humility: Humility is a utility card that will be used to either combo with Stampeding Kodo or to simply buy you more turns. I know that sometimes I’ll use Humility on a fatty (lets say Rag for example) to make it easier for me to kill it off with a combination of minions and Truesilver Champion swings–if no other methods are present. Say you play it on a giant; you have the peace of mind knowing that you can almost exclusively ignore the 1/8 giant; If he swings for one, you don’t really care. Eventually you’ll draw into life gain while you continue to pop out minions, giving yourself excellent board control.

Elven Archer: Like I said before–Elven ARcher is a great utility card. Owns against rushdown decks (hunter, zoo, etc). It is 1 free damage directed anywhere, a 1/1 body, and only 1 mana cost. Can be comboed with attacks as a finisher, with Equality, kill shields, or to kill pesky x/1 creatures. Also great combo with Knife Juggler. Your first chance to use Archer–USE IT!

Holy Light: Kind of self explanatory. Use it to keep your head above water.

Acolyte of Pain: Great card to eat up opponents resources. They don’t want you to get huge value out of acolyte of pain, so they will usually try to get it off the board quick–that focus will usually net you a card (2 if you’re lucky) and a free turn. Also combos with Pyro or even Archer if you need to dig.

Hammer of Wrath: Just a great utility card. Kills a lot of things, can help you dig. Better when buffed!

Defender of Argus: I usually think of this card being used with 1/1’s on the board. Or when you do something like Kodo with a 1/1 on the board —> Defender. Again, you don’t need to get MAX value out of this card, just a way to alter the board state enough to disrupt your opponents removal (everything but Flamestike or meteors (druid)). I guess best case scenario you’re dropping it on two guardians or something…

Stampeding Kodo: Great combo with Humility/Aldor Peacekeeper. Also a great body (3/5) if you need a minion (and know that your opponent doesn’t usually have 2/x minions (druids usually). I usually save him for a combo.

Guardian of Kings: Use him to keep your head above water and create a nice board presence. Make opponents eat up resources to deal with him–in turn buying you time.

**Lay on Hands: **Its hands baby! Use when applicable. Don’t have to save it until the end. Its always good to draw more cards.

Tirion—nuff said.

Cards that you don’t need to hold back on playing: Acolyte, Golem, Azure Drake, Sunwalker, Truesilver Champion. Until something else pops up, you just use your hero abillity.

I think the thing that surprised me the most was Kolento’s use of the Truesilver, he would hold it for several turns and take out priority targets with it to save his board instead of mindlessly wailing on things. It was amazing seeing him use that in conjunction with other minions/spells to clear out their board over and over.

Pally is still a deck I don’t like to run, but if I did I would make a turtle deck like this as it has a lot of safety measures built in and works well in the current meta.

I thought he didn’t have true silver but I just missed it

Oh man I’m running in to mages left and right and two rushdown paladins. Only two wins were against a warrior and a shaman. Rough little streak. got it back into 13 though. I wanna hit 10 tonight.

Edit: How do I always forget about leroy…every class runs it. Like…every class

Leeroy has trouble when there are multiple taunts on the board. Druid is his natural enemy.

But at least he still has chicken.

I didn’t realize shadow madness activated wild Pyromancer’s text.

Pally had around a 30-14 life lead. I had an azure on board, pally had an azure, a token, and the Pyromancer. I used shadow madness on the Pyromancer, thinking I would be able to clear the board minus the token. But the ability activated, and I was able to run the Pyro into the drake and clear his board. Totally unexpected.

Ended up winning by fatiguing him with his own acolyte of pain. Priest dailies are so frustratingly long, unless I get a 20/20 lightwell turn 3. That’s typically a quick concede.

Fuck, I loathe arena now even though I liked it a lot when started playing.

What changed? I have only been playing for a few months, but arena is still my favorite part.

I haven’t been to arena in a while, but let me guess: mages.

I ran into three Rogues and one Mage in my Arena time yesterday. Prior Arena run was about the same.

Rogue and Mage everywhere.

GG Cryoh at EVO. You got some stream time.

He accomplished what he wanted to do, beat the first round Gen

I leveled up my Gen a little to help him. Couldn’t possibly help with the Gamerbee fight though. Still cool.

Got a terrible draft with literary 14 2-drops. Still managed to get that sucker to 10 wins only to be greeted by a Agent and a golden Snipe and medium coin purse, been getting a lot of those lately zzz.
Edit: made the other post when I was 0-2.

I beat somebody who had a 20/20 lightspawn yesterday. He did 20 damage to me on turn 6. I had 13 health when I won. Never killed it. Thank you fireballs and frostbolts and sunfury protectors.

CRYOH WAS ON STREAM?! I MISSSSED IT
