Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

Well, today’s quest was win 7 games, so I guess they sucked me in. Going for it. At rank 5 with 3 stars so far.

Do it. Get the legendary card back

Card backs aren’t until next season.

Got tough at rank 5. A lot of watcher druids and control warriors all of a sudden. The pendulum keeps swinging back and forth. I’ve been one star from 4 and one star from 6. Can’t imagine it gets any easier as you move up, but I’d like to at least stay at 5 before the season ends and get that head start on next season.

I’m only running into Hunters right now at rank 3-5, I’ll lay off any legendary attempts until they fix that excuse of a class.

I ran into tons of hunters from 10-5, but I haven’t hit many since.

I commented on how annoying it is to play soulfire/doomguard roulette when you only have those and like one more card in your hand, and somebody said I got morridoomed. Kind of makes me want to see if I could fit a succubus in this deck somehow.

I may be opening a larger can of worms than I can handle with this, but can someone explain to me the “meta” of successful decks? I’m going to try to get up through the ranks with the new season. I don’t expect to get very far, as I have very little in-game value and I’m not dropping money on this game, but I’d like to at least understand why I’m getting my ass kicked lol

Succubus isn’t really good. There really isn’t too much difference between 2 and 3 toughness in today’s meta, and you can’t really dump your hand on turn 2 in order to fully benefit from Succubus, unless you’re running Wisps.

Yeah, I know, that’s why I said “somehow.” On paper 4/3 for 2 looks really good, but it’ll still die to a conventional 3/2 for 2 and you have to give up a card for it. I imagine I would have to hide it behind a taunt and/or pre-buff it somehow to get its full value out, which would make it tricky.

Pick hunter, cheap on dust and can be built to beat anything and is not overly complicated. I can give you some quick pointers in game if you see me online on NA, although it’s mostly use your hero power more and disrespect me.

Successful decks are those that have good matchups against those within the common decks within a certain range of ranks.

Control warriors have very favorable matchups vs hunters from what I hear it’s one of the worst matchups for hunters apparently. Cool that I used to see them as a low tier hero and is now thriving in this meta Hunters shit on a lot of decks and they’re quite cheap to make so they’ll be quite popular. The nerf to Tinkmaster gave rise to handlocks somewhat and hunters adjusted accordingly it seems.

and so on.

Generally you’ll want to adjust your deck depending on what classes you’re often running into and even change classes completely if its more favorable at the rank you’re playing at.

If you dont have much cards to make much meaningful adjustments or have decks to cover your bad matchups then there’s budget decks out there that you can run.

play peek-a-boo druid. only cool people play peek-a-boo druid.

Had a gorehowl and brawl so I thought I could see if I can make a Warrior deck and see if I can make it work. After playing abit it seemed I was leaning towards a more aggressive mid range deck, redid the deck, took out gorehowl and brawl, attempted a enrage deck for fun. After some trial and error this is what I got.

After doing some research, acolyte has some surprising utility in control warrior decks. Triggering the 1 damage on minion -> gain attack on acolyte/whirlwinds/etc… and you get some insane card draw and more utility out of those cards. often leading into the Alex -> grom combo for those decks

All and all just another fun deck that’s somewhat working out.

I’ve got a fun little mid-range Warrior deck. I made the control version, then I got bored and wanted to fuck around with Raging Worgen.

Well I got a Golden Grommash and crafted an Alex for a couple of my decks, so I’m sorta running a control warrior deck. I like it. Getting to 20 armor in a game is ridiculous

Just drew an insane amount of cards with a auctioneer on my board vs a 9/9 defender of argus’d ragnaros.

Slam -> draw 2 cards, ragnaros at 9/7 -> inner rage, 6/3 auctioneer, draw 1 card -> whirlwind, draw 1 card, 9/6 rag, 6/2 auctioneer -> played acolyte of pain + inner raged it, draw 2 cards, 3/2 acolyte of pain -> traded the taunted rag for the auctioneer.

6 cards drawn with a acolyte still alive on board and a dead rag.

Double post for hate mail.

Spoiler

So I was playing this hunter deck that I made months ago vs a control warrior. Went for the face and got him down to 18 hp with a bunch of armor. He has a ragnaros and cruel task master on the field. I play misdirection in anticipation of a grom combo to my face as a finisher.

I play buzzard, hyena forgot why I even had this, and unleash the hounds and killed off the taskmaster. 6/4 hyena.

His turn, he kills off buzzard somehow, and then brings out the gorehowl and goes straight for my face. Triggers misdirection -> hits his ragnaros and takes 8 damage. Ragnaros fireball hits my face and I survive.

I bring out fucking king crush with barely enough for lethal and he concedes after his intro was done.

He adds me and this is what I got.

Then blocks me after.

In a separate match that probably got this zoo lock pretty fucking salty too.

Spoiler

11 health on the warlock, he has a 5/7 doomguard that hit my face.

I play explosive trap and misdirection. Just to see if misdirection gets priority. Hunters mark on the doom guard and steady shot

He attacks and triggers explosive trap and dies. He plays another doomguard and goes for my face, misdirection hits his face

he conceded

Playing against a pally, he uses auctioneer + blessing of might. 7/4 auctioneer + card draw. I flared for card draw. I draw MISFUCKINGDIRECTION. I play it and steady shotted his face. He hits his face for 7. Leaving him with 7 hp. He uses truesilver to my face and heals back to 9, he summons a token why. Unleash the hounds, 2 2/1s + kill command.

MISDIRECTION IS GOD

Misdirection is REALLY good.

Hunter is such a nasty class. So many cards that you need to play around.

Looks like I need to save up for misdirection.

Is any class better than Priest in regards to late game? I think druid is right there, but once you hit turn 10 its scarrrryyyyyy

How about the mage? She can just kill you with magic and keep your minions frozen.
