Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

This expansion looks insane

The fuck is Inspire?

EDIT: Oh, it’s for every time you use your Hero Power.

Set is ALL about the Hero Power.

Yeah, should shake stuff up…

Synopsis on the cards shown so far.

[details=Spoiler]

Skycap’n Kragg - For one, CHARRRRRRRRGE! That’s awesome lol. Anyway…I thought it was bad at first but as I thought about it, could have some potential. I think it’s really strong at 5 Mana and acceptable at 6 Mana. Just dependent on making better Pirates.

Lock and Load - Hunter isn’t Rogue, I can’t imagine it’ll get much play. Hunter of course runs a decent amount of spells but they ain’t cheap for the most part. Another niche Epic.

Maiden of the Lake - Reads busted at first but honestly it can be meh. 4 Mana 2/6 is not that great on stats just so you can have 1 mana Hero Ability. There’s potential but I don’t think it’s a game breaker or anything. You have to play a subpar minion and hope it sticks in order to get a slight bit of value over the long run.

Coldarra Drake - Late game, this comes out and sticks and you never have to worry as a Mage. Before that, relatively generic 6/6. May see play but it’d have to be built around, maybe with Inspire.

Frost Giant - A better Giant to pull in Arenas than most. Could definitely see Handlock running this as yet ANOTHER Giant, you tap enough for it, that’s for damn sure.

Lowly Squire - As lowly as its name suggests…but as I think of it, it may not be TOO bad, at least for Arena. Not a bad draft for Paladin. Turn 1 this into Turn 2 Guy isn’t too terrible.

Nexus-Champion Saraad - Definite potential here. Stats aren’t too bad for a 5 Drop. The fact that it’s ANY random spell might be a blessing and a curse though. Wish it was class specific but it might push it over the edge rather than just being a fun Legendary.

Totem Golem - Holy shit, Shaman should love this. 2 Mana 3/4 is absurd and is worth the Overload alone, but if that wasn’t enough it’s a goddamn Totem! The totem support is real, moreso because of a later card. But a definite staple in my book.

Kodorider - So…a bad statted drop on Turn 6. And on Turn 8 with Inspire…still isn’t very good. Yeah, nah.

Effigy - Uh…interesting. Fun card, definitely could see some use. A more immediate reward than Duplicate, just without the inherent advantage and setup. Fun arena card for sure too.

Fallen Hero - So we got our stock standard 2 drop 3/2…that makes Fireblast do 2 damage while it’s out. Enjoy trying to play a 3/2 into that crap. Definitely a monster of an Arena card but could see some constructed play, maybe. Maybe in that Tempo Mage.

Draenei Totemcarver - So a 4 mana 4/4 which isn’t bad…that turns into a Frostwolf Warlord for Totems. Really strong card. Totem/Token Shaman is definitely a thing. If not for this card it’s because of…

Tuskarr Totemic - THIS card. Card’s absurd. You either get one of your old stock standard Totems which were relatively solid anyway…or now you can get Totem Golem too. Turn 3 3/2 with a 3/4 into a Turn 4 5/5 seems ABSURD. Yeah, Totem Shaman is happening.

Thunder Bluff Valiant - Okay, the value of this card will depend on whether the Inspire would trigger and give the buff to the totem you HA’d out or not. If yes, then it’s a solid addition to Totem Shaman that can really put on the pressure. If no, then it’s a lot tricker to use and may not be worth it. If nothing else the answer to that question will determine it’s Arena Value.

Ball of Spiders - …maybe if they had Charge but I don’t see Hunters wanting to play that kind of long game so they could feast on the triple Spinner value. Think it would’ve been safe at 5 mana. 6 is too much. [/details]

So, initial impression: everything looks cool, but slow. Need to see something to slow down tempo mage/face hunter for me to envision a lot of these cards working.

Also, arena rewards will be a random pack. Really wish they just gave tokens to get the pack you want.

  1. Random pack from any set? I like the token idea.

  2. I hope the rarity distribution is closer to classic set than GVG

  3. I like that they are adding more dragons and pirates, to give more possibilities for those tribal decks. Pushing totems tribe also which is cool.

This brawl.

Turn 2 lethal, skill roar too good. :dizzy:

While it’s not that strong, a Control Hunter deck with Jeeves is pretty fun this Brawl.

Priest is super strong too, but got boring after a while. Murloc decks seem great too.

The best one I got hit by was Muster, Muster, coin, Quartermaster.

Gotta be mage with Flamewalker, Gagetzan Auctioneer and a shitload of card draw, burn and removal.

New Legendary

Looks really good for Shaman and Warrior if you can fit it in.

And it’s a permanent change too.

The only Heroes I see not using it are Priest, Hunter and maybe Warlock. Actually I could see Warrior not using him as well but we’ll see.

RIP freeze mage. Have fun burning through 100+ armor :frowning:

That’s a tough slot to compete with for warrior. Already have sylv and shield maiden at 6 mana. Better than maiden if you’re healthy, worse if you need that armor immediately (to survive or for shield slam).

Hero Power based builds are going to be interesting

Pallys are going to be running weenie decks for sure, will we see raid leader make a return? lol

Along with the 3/3 for 3 that has inspire:summon a dude, thats a lot of dudes

3 hp tho :frowning:

Anyone managed to play this week’s brawl for one more match after you won one?
Worst brawl in history, managed a quick win and cu.
Turn 1 Alex, turn 2 or if unlucky turn 3 kill. ggwp, much skill.

Don’t forget the Emperor.

Just treat it like a 6 mana spell, then. The body might get traded into, but your hero power value goes insane. Good for control decks.

Started playing sometime last week. Enjoying the game so far. I feel dirty for being a filthy casual, however. Currently playing a near complete budget Zoolock deck, but I’m poor as fuck right now. D:

We’re all poor. Just enjoy the grind.
