Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

I think people are figuring out Priest though, they look more prevalent on streams now at least.

Guess I’m joining club OP :sunglasses:

Priest has really good spot removal though, usually you can play in a way that you don’t fall behind and need a big surprise sweeper besides your 2 damage + heal your guys

Eh, I don’t really know how to feel about Priest removal. I really like Shadow Word: Pain, but I feel like I’m usually having to play gimmicky trick combos to work around mid-range decks. Like, I find myself having to use Crazed Alchemist more and more to maneuver attack values into Cabal Shadow Priest/Shadow Word/Shadow Madness territory, or use Circle of Healing + Auchenai Soul Priest as an emergency board wipe.

I do have an interesting idea for Priest, though. How many Priest rushdown or midrange decks are in the metagame?

Not enough with how nuts mindblast is

I feel like the opposing Priest just slapped me in the face whenever I get hit by Mind Blast. He’s like “Fuck you nigga, I don’t even need to spend the 2 mana on controlling board. Hold this damage, bitch.”

I always mentally think “gg I win” when it’s pvp and they mindblast.

-1 card + -1 turn = lolwhy

Kind of like when I was in arena and my opponent did this on turn 1:

Coin, Holy Smite, Holy Smite to the face.

Treasure goblin!

What if he had drafted 20 holy smites and the joke is on you

He’d still be doing at most 2 damage a turn after turn 2, since he would be in topdeck mode.

next time I’m playing priest in arena I’ll draft all the Holy smites and mind blasts that I can and see how far I can go

I was about to make a little comparison to a true S tier class; druid, but now it turned out to be a overview/guide/thesis/essay to the druid class.

I’ll post it when im done. Mostly done.

Druid is so fucking good. It can do anything and everything, since most of their great cards have multiple choices. Their board clears are a touch on the weak side, but I’m okay with that.

Honestly their board clears are almost on par with mages. Swipe with spell power is insane. Great without too. Starfall is always around too.

What they do lack is a true hard removal poly/hex that’s not Naturalize, but then they run Tink Master or Big game hunter and then that weakness gets covered.

They really don’t have much weaknesses at all and they’re otherwise ultra flexible with a shit load of strong options in each hand. On top of having a SHIT load of viable decks that covers pretty much every playstyle at a high level. Control druid, rush druid, OTK druid, whatever you want if you got the cards.

More of a con than a weakness, they have a lot of expensive core cards to craft/acquire and a fair amount of their decks require some notable legendary. They scale ESPECIALLY well with having great legendaries like Cairne, thalnos, nat pagle, ragnaros, Alex, Ysera, Black Knight, etc… and utterly insane when they have a deck with all of them. Like a solid A+ tier to undisputed god tier.

Decks based on Savage Roar or Power of the Wild are not really explored yet, they’re very potent though. I’ve also seen some decks abusing the single target buffs with creatures like Amani Berserker that have been crazy.

Oh there’s plenty of savage roar decks out there at high ranks or atleast now they are. Hell they’re being complained about en masse.

Force of nature + savage roar is painful enough. With minions like imp master, knife juggler, etc, all buffed by Soul of the forest. Aughhhhhhhh.

My druid deck used to run with 2x mark of the wild/1x mark of nature with 2x amani/worgens. They were pretty alright but replacing those cards with 2x Yeti, 2x earthring far seer, and 2 argent commanders, my deck has been far more solid and consistent overall. Adding in those yetis were especially good. Though I kinda miss the hilarity of having a worgen down and then they start looking through their hand for a minion that doesn’t get eaten by the worgen and trigger the windfury.

That aside I have a feeling that sometime down the line they might consider adding Viper sting for hunters, mana drain for warlocks, and Mana Burn for priests sometime down the line. Priests being able to destroy mana crystals would be interesting.

Force of Nature + Cult Master is on that next level of annoying. Reload the hand, coupled with 6 damage wherever you want.

Just ran into my first malygos spell druid.

Holy fuck. The game went like this.

Turn 2 - He wild growth

Turn 3 - Twilight drake 4/5

Turn 4 - Twilight drake 4/5 * got rid of both with silences but I had a feeling that this was some fishy play*

Turn 5+ he threw down Thalnos and swiped my guys off. I had a feeling that a taunt won’t help me in this game, yet I needed a minion out so I threw down a Druid of the claw with charge and took thalnos out.

Malygos came out and innervated a swipe. 9 god damn damage to my face and 6 damage to everything else. Nothing lived of course.

Then the next turn Cenarius got thrown down with 2 2/2 taunts.

I was down to like 6 health at one point and he cleared my board again with his minions, threw down a azure drake, and drew a moonfire that did 7 damage to my face.

God damn that deck hurts.

Malygos spell druid seems weird. At 9 mana, I always felt like Malygos was just too big to use in a legit spell damage deck. 0 cost Moonfires for 6 damage sure are fun, though.

Speaking of using moonfires, this deck looks interesting and apparently took the OP to legendary as of 1/27 so it’s relevant.

2 Innervate
2 Moonfire
2 Claw
2 Wrath
2 Loot Hoarder
2 Power of the Wild
1 Bloodmage Thalnos
2 Harvest Golem
2 Violet Teacher
2 Swipe
2 Keeper of the Grove
1 Bite
1 Starfall
2 Gadgetzan Auctioneer
2 Azure Drake
2 Ancient of Lore
1 Ragnaros, the Firelord

Interesting. Also it seems like you don’t need those legendaries either. Just make sure you have Ancients of lore, Auctioneer and violet teacher, azure drake, etc…

I’ll test it out later. The matchup list is kinda hilarious.

Innervate is pretty bonkers.
